You park your car in the middle of the street to chat with a friend or run into the store and don't seem to notice or care that you have backed up traffic for several blocks. And nobody blows their horn.
You drive with one wheel in the shoulder dirt because the oncoming drivers take their half of the road out of the middle.
You think nothing of drivers passing you on both sides of your car or having six cars turn right in front of you though you have the" right of way."
You immediately reply "mai me" to the checkout girls at big C even though you're really not sure if they asked you for a date or if you have a member card.
You take your cash register receipt to the mysterious big C premium desk hoping that you win a bag of fried seaweed....and get excited if you win a can of coke.
You think it's perfectly normal that you can buy two cases of beer at big C between 11 am and 2 pm but you cannot buy one case.
..give way to the LEFT in a roundabout !!!

You stop returning the wai of checkout girls?
..you stop giving a wai the old sheila cleaning the toilets..

1. Big C Super Highwy, ground floor, rear right, had one shop doing embroidery, either take to them or buy from, this was early in the year, may or may not still be there.
2. Chiang Moi Road, small Soi to the right after the 'klong' shop on the left about 100 metres in, only shop there that does embroidery.
Sorry forgot the names of these businesses.
Hope this helps.

Well on the bright side, the significant loss of weight so do his heart issues no harm.
..come on..have hearth!

Alot of the local hammocks are of good quality but I've had several vendors recommend against me buying theirs just based on my weight - about 95 kilos. They have all told me up to about 70-80 kilos is pushing it.
Where to find a hefty Farang-rated hammock is the question !
..try Wualai Market (on each Saturday evening) about 50m in from the southern end on the left. All sizes and strengths..or made to order from tough woven man-made fibres.

It's a non poisonous Striped Kukri Snake (oligodon taeniatus)
If attacked, the snake is usually defensive and displays the typical defensive behavior for an Oligodon
(rolling up to the side and lifting up the tail.)
Are you sure, i googled it and the photos of that snake look pretty different to this one, althought there is a shot of the tail coiling i was talking about. The colours and stripes seem much more defined on the striped kukri.
..he'd make a great belt!

Didn't a previous lady-mayor have plans, to tidy-up Arcade Bus Station, whatever happened to her ? Certainly she, and the OP, have a valid point !
..she was only there briefly as she had filming commitments..as far as the state of the terminal..spare a thought for the thousands per day exiting and arriving..they had cleaners full time doing what they can with an outdated facility.

At least he passed while indulging in a Frenchman's favorite pastime.
Yeah, but eating Italian food? Sacré bleu. Oh well, it could have been worse, le Big Mac ...
..tell me what is worse than dying!

Nothing unusual I believe., and indeed it seems to be a scam where they can pocket the difference.
..why infer it is a 'scam' when in fact it was always in Thai baht (currently 500)..the fact they accepted US currency was only doing the person entering Myanmar a favour!

This guy is going get it, so he should wipe that greasy smirk off his face before he stands in front of the judge. He picked the wrong girl to try and intimidate and then assault. All of the medical staff at the hospital have rallied behind the doctor and the mother's colleagues, many of whom are senior military officers, have been supportive. Not mentioned is the military discipline this man should face for conduct unbecoming an officer. The man looks every part the type of person that would assault a respected health professional. I'd launch into a further tirade, but I reckon most everyone shares the same views on the destruction of a woman's life and career. He better hope he doesn't need medical care any time soon as he might face an uncomfortable time of it.
..and what's all this about wanting to visit her to appease his actions..haven't they ever heard about not approaching a complainant or witness in a pending legal action. One would think the complainant would have a restraining order out against him by now..If it was me I would be very concerned about my safety!

I have a one year license (first year) now, anyone know what to do to get a 5 year?
..for a farang you can opt to renew for a further one year or five year period..the same procedure applies.

Righty O than, this is what you need to do.
First, go to your local quack or hospital for a medical.
You open your mouth, say; RRRR, breath in and out and that's it. About 80 baht to 100 baht.
Next download from the Internet an Application Form For Residency In Thailand application. (See sample below). Do a Google search to find. Complete the form on your computer and print out.
Visit Immigration and obtain a residency certificate. You will need your completed Application Form For Residency In Thailand application, a photo, your passport and photocopies of your passport pages.
No need to take a ticket for waiting when you arrive at Immigration, just tell the guy you want a residency certificate for a driving license. Hand over your paperwork to the officer and he will process everything for you.
Once completed, you pay 500 baht that goes straight into the officer's pocket. So do not expect to receive a receipt. This is why you get treated like a VIP and do not have to queue up with the rest of the peasants, because it`s cash in hand for them. Still much cheaper than purchasing a certificate from the consulate.
After that, go to any driving license centre of your choice in Chiang Mai.
First the nice lady will take your mug shot for the driving license. No need to take a photo yourself.
Next the eye tests. A big box with 2 small rods that move in opposite directions. You press a button when you think they are aligned. Then the color blindness test, a wall chart with dotted numbers in different colors.
Next, you watch a video. Sorry nothing X rated, the theme is the Thai highway codes. Don`t worry, they have an English version. Warning: try not to fall into a frenzy of side splitting laugher when viewing the video. That for me was the most difficult task.
Then you have to answer some questions as to what you saw in the video, after that if you pass all the tests, you will receive your driving license and then you're done.
Cant remember how much for the license fees, wasn't too expensive.
You will require separate driving licenses for a motorbike and car, but only require 1 residency certificate, whether it`s for 1 or 2 driving licenses.
Sometimes the test examiner lets you off of watching the video or answering questions about the video. Depends on his mood at the time. So make sure you keep smiling and he likes you.
Hang Dong is the best test centre to visit. They are more geared up for farangs and do not seem so stringent about the tests.
Good luck and hope all goes well on the day.
Hi Beetlejuice
Not wishing to contradict your post....but just done mine and in an attempt to offer a different experience.....No eye tests, video , no other tests or questions. Just handed over all the relevant paperwork, fee and completed the mugshot...Licence issued.
Quite simple and took about thirty minutes.
But to support your post...it does seem that this process varies between applicants and ages . I have no explanation for this except to say that the various counter clerks seem to adopt their own interpretation of the requirements. ... Another Farang next to me of a similar age on the next counter had to go through all the process that you have mentioned. Took my wife along and had no problems with any re-testing of all the things you mentioned, nor what this other Farang had to endure.
..why are you paying an Immigration Official 500 baht to issue a form that is FREE..you're only making it harder and harder for us all by pushing up the bar!
PS. At Transport Office you also need to do an accelerator/break reaction test prior to the video. Fee for 5 year license from memory was 510 baht.

There are no direct flights Ubon/Chiang Mai/Ubon as far as I know.
Bangkok and Phuket are the only two destinations that can be reached by a direct flight!
But lets hope for the future!
..how about CNX/SIN, CNX/KL and CNX/Hat Yai

If you live in BKK... no .. scratch that.
If you don't speak Thai and are looking for random hookups with women you meet in bars you'll get bar girls. If you do speak Thai and are looking for random hookups with women you meet in bars they won't be "nice" girls but they might be friendly. If you are doing it on the cheap ......
Edit to add ... nice girls only go to clubs in groups of friends and if you don't blend in some meaningful way with those friends ... you are out of luck
..my mum always told me..if you want to meet a nice girl, go to church. (Government workers, armed forces, dental clinics, hospitals, department stores..many venues).
If you then took one of these to a bar they would cringe at the thought.

Thanks so much guys. I need a green screen as well so I will try to hand-made approach first. If anyone has any other/better ideas, it would be much appreciated.
..try the large and busy fabric shop adjacent to the Chinese Temple in Warorot Market..Indian/Thai family..can buy by the metre or rolls of 20 or 32 metre. (You can then sell it later to any of the bag manufacvturers for lining if you want to recoup your outlay). From memory 40 baht a metre and 1200 for 32 metre roll, 20 metre was 6 or 700 from memory, two grades.
They would undoubtedly have green fabric as well.
I have sewing lady contact if you need..can do straight sewing and overlocking.
