I agree with you to some extent, but you need to take a closer look at the photos - there are TWO people involved in this act. A Western sex tourist AND a Thai hooker. Not just a falang at fault here.A Thai friend phoned me to tell me about this story. It is apparently all over the Thai language media. Songkran is a religious festival too. What the behavior by the farang here does is further fuel the stereotype-typical view held by many Thais about the disrespectful and disgusting way foreigners behave here in Thailand.
It is such behavior that causes the police and immigration and other officialdom to make more stringent and difficult rules for farangs to get visa's and renewals etc.
I agree with you, but setting aside the issues of public lewdness and drunkenness, from a legal standpoint the man does appear to have also commited a sexual assault, insofar as he initiated sexual contact without the consent of the woman. Even if she was a prostitute (and that has not been established) that doesn't give others to sexually assault her with impunity.
Huh? Are you sitting in some law office in Bible Belt, Mississippi?
...looked to me he was licking her black shorts..no penetration..just going through the motions..hmm

Violence is no answer, but it's hard not to sympathize when you're on a moving bike and a mass of water, no matter how small, heads your way. Instantly, your attention is distracted and you might swerve just a few inches to avoid it - which in that area could put you into the path of an oncoming vehicle, trap your front wheel on a slippery culvert, or land you in the lap of a bar katoey. All of which could have nasty outcomes.

IMO violence was the perfect answer here. I had a bucket of ice water tossed over me (by a Thai idiot) on a side Soi once at about 10pm on my way back from shopping at Foodland. I got off the bike and dunked his head into his water tank. It's hard for you people to understand the emotions involved unless you're there being attacked with the water after you've asked them not to.
What other solution would you suggest? There isn't any. Sometimes violence is the only answer. Next time that Farang or his friends decide to spray someone who asks not to be, they'll think twice, won't they?
a dog would!...depends on the memory span.

Buy a good quality helmet and always wear it - even for short trips.
Broken limbs can be "fixed" but bust brains never !
The link contains some convincing evidence.

I will never understand why people choose not to wear helmet.
...because it will never happen to them!

I'm aware she can attempt to come at me in Australia, but given we have never lived together, either in Australia or Thailand, I'm not sure what she would actually get if she came at me in Australia. The laws as I understand it here factor what each has contributed to the marriage. For her that would be 0. Also we have been married less than 4 years with no children, so I won't lose that much. Assets that I owned prior to getting married are all documented.
As far as I understand, under Thai law I have the grounds to dissolve the marriage for adultery, but again, as we have never lived together, I can claim that we have been separated for the whole time and get it dissolved on those grounds too.
So if I go the adultery path, I'm sure it would be a loss of face, she may not even turn up. I would rather end this sooner than later.
..I feel for you mate...hope it all works out.
