  1. committed suicide or fell from the balcony of his condo while he was drunk. However, they are also investigating the possibility he was murdered.

555 they've covered their arse5 well with that statement clap2.gif

...it's only a reporter reporting..i don't see any official RTP spokesperson in any of these cases do you?

what police force in the world would ever speak to the Press at the scene or express an opinion..i ask you...wait and see what their investigation uncovers..yes!

  2. I`ve just had 2 brand new air con units installed in my house. 1 is a Panasonic and the other a Mitsubishi. These makes come highly recommended in Thailand although they intend to be more expensive then the others.

The inverter is only a gimmick, I saved myself over 17000 baht by going for the basic models.

...can you explain more about the 'gimmick' re Inverters please...Im about to buy an Inverter and was told by the self employed electrician/technician that there is no noticeable saving with the running costs of an Inverter versus standard system.

Can anyone give more information about the two systems as I was under the impression an Inverter could save up to 30% and was quieter!

    Thanks.

  3. When oh when will the Thai government wake up and require all buses fitted with speed limiters, to stop this daily carnage.

Or when will the Thai step up and tell those drivers to drive according the trafficlaws? It seems they don't care at all.

You are transferring Western concepts to a non-Western society. Doesn't work.

Point of being in authority here is to line your own pocket, elevate your social status and your family's and to create an invisible protection shield against any form of attack, legal, physical, financial, you name it.

This applies to all those with power, politicians, police, civil servants, military, anyone who could improve this appalling road safety record.

......they are quite happy to drive on Western engineered roads and drive Western engineered motor vehicles and still refer to the Road Traffic Laws as 'guidelines'...all about education.

  4. Clearly not everyone knows the difference between “noo/moo/ngu...rat/pig/snake” and some readers may have learned something new.biggrin.png

The “ng” at the beginning of a Thai word is the same as our “ng” but ours are usually at the end of a word like sing, sang, sung. The u or oo is pronounced like the vowel in the words “do” or “shoe”.

    ...yes sir!

  5. Can't say I ever stumbled upon this fella in Pattaya (no pun intended), but just curious to know if anyone ever met the Indian kid with the huge foot who used to hang out at the Taj Mahal around the mid-late 90's. He was fairly well known at the time. Looked like someone had stuck a bicycle pump into his big toe and just pumped & pumped & pumped... it didn't really extend into his calf like this fella, but it was a seriously huge foot. But what a lovely kid he was (at least when me and my mates met him). For the price of a beer he gave us a good tour and was full of the joys of spring. Looking back, maybe he felt he was blessed that his deformity set him apart from the coupla hundred other kids begging around there...

...hope he got to throw the leg after work..wink.png

  6. Unfortunately, it is a risk we take living in the tropics.

Just yesterday, a Moo Keow ( green snake ) the largest I have ever seen," jumped " off of my roof and only missed landing on me by about two feet.

    They are very poisonous.

I still can not understand how it even got up on the roof, or why.

Sometimes only luck keeps us alive.

I wish you all good luck!

P.S. very sorry to hear about your dog.

Hmmm......a moo keow would be ' a green pig '. Pretty dangerous but thankfully as rare as hens teeth

More likely it was a ngoo keow. Had one in the front garden this week but chased it out with the garden hose.

    Excuse me!

I have found that many, many Thai words have several different spellings in the English language.

I do find when I speak to my Thai neighbors about the snake, they know exactly what I am saying.

Phonetically, how would you pronounce ngoo?

...you should know by now that any comment you make here MUST be absolutely correct in all aspects...sorry I used caps to emphasize 'must' ... I'm sure we got the gist of what you were saying..i did..noo/moo/ngu...rat/pig/snake ..thumbsup.gif

  7. Even if he was driving at 80 km, the recommended speed, the minivan will need at least a 100 m to stop. Coming over the crest of a hill it may have been impossible for him to stop. The truck should not have entered the opposite lane.

How was the truck to get around the broken down vehicle that was blocking his way?

Look.. Clear... Overtake.... Out of the blue comes a minivan at 140 km... That's all folks

..a truck that size can't just stop on a 'sixpence'.

  8. In fairness... 'massage' duties aside...

I've heard down the Thai grapevine that 'smoking' or a BJ are not part of a Thai marriage 'contract' ie: It's not 'normal'... However no intercourse IS grounds for a Thai divorce...

Might be she just doesn't like giving head... let alone 'working' on a massage... The usual solution for Thais seems to be to get a money hungry meanoy and sponsor her...

..Buddha teachings...only food shall pass your lips.

  9. Amazing! Did you notice how many people just eased around him and then drove on, as if nothing in the world was wrong?

..they just stood over him for more than a minute..not one person bended down to get their pants dirty to see if he had a pulse or choking from his chin strap...geez!..perhaps they thought he was deceased...then another 40 seconds before he makes signs of stirring..then he had to drag his legs back perhaps up into a seated position beside the pickup so as he wouldn't have his legs severed..all unaided..geez! sad.png
