  1. TAT is the department what cares for this kind of roads. So there is a scenic route from Hua Hin to the South, until Sawi. In fact thie soads are 'bicycle' roads.... this one fron HH to the South starts by: rd nr 3168-3159-3167-3169-3374-3357-........................ complete along the coast.... At the moment they are upgrading this scenic road announced as the 'Riviera Project' Buy a good map of Thailand and you will find all the numbers on it. I am also a fervent motor biker and use such a map in combination with a GPS.

  2. It is a public secret English people cannot cook. They even are not able to cook a chicken the way it use to be. I have seen some good ideas in the replies on this topic but I only can give one advise: LEARN COOKING. And: there is a big difference in FRY,  BOIL or STEAM a chicken, just what you wants. Learn it from a French or a Belgian cook, they know how to prepare meat.

  3. @ Ubonjoe: The Embassy from The Netherlands was the very first what did not sign an affidavid anymore. They now give a 'Visa Supporting Letter' To become this document the applicant has to prove his income.

@Sirquest007: You are clearly a Hollander....

'I'ts my money, they don't decide how much I can transfer or use in a day.
So I withdrew all money. that was possible
???? I didn't have to go to the bank 10 times....'

They think they can make the rules in an other country. As you are Hollander, ask your question on a Dutch forum or blog. In your home language you will be able to explain your real problem and also get answers in a language you understand. (see www.thailandblog.nl)

  4. Those with all correct don't have problem at all. Those with a big mouth and no correct documents also have no problem, they just make the problems themselves with they big mouth.

And yes, even with an extension, based on 800K or income and not being married, Immi can give 1 month under consideration and make a home visit, just to verify you are really living on the address you have been using.

  5. 20 years Thailand. Reading more than TVF and it doesn't makes me pessimistic at all. I take it as where it is coming from. Have my own opinion. Many problems are because the poster makes them himself by missing any experience or bad attitude and behavior. Most of the visa problems are because the poster wants to stay here, for what reason it can be, with the wrong visa. Be honest with yourself: if you stay here long time: are you a tourist or not?

Pessimistic people have often a financial problem and cannot effort a comfortable stay here, so they complain about everything. Many times I just have to laugh ... rolling over the floor laughing my ..... off.

  6. "'m beginning to think that the ED Visa may not have been the wisest choice for extending my stay here for the next 9 months, and may go back to my original idea of just applying for a 60 day Tourist VIsa (extending it locally to 90 days), and repeating that a few times once my "retirement" visa expires at the end of this month."

Why not extend your "retirement visa" NO FUNDS? So you are just another one who wants advise to escape the rules by ED visa.... thank you, you just make  it better for honest and correct people.

  7. 'I will be riding a bike, this is one new experience I'm looking forward to.... So I'll be crossing land boarders.'

You will have more problems to pass the border Thialnd/Cambo by bike as you will have to enter Thailand by land border. Did you check already what the conditions are to pass the border by car or by bike? I wish you good luck and don't be surprised you will have to return or leave your bike at the border.

  8. Dr OP,

your posting is case of lot of confusing to some people.

First off all: where do you make the conclusion IO will not accept payments starting in January? You were not in this case and even did not ask for it. So that is a conclusion you just make by yourself based on NOTHING: guessing. With guesses the readers of this forum are not helped at all, just making them scared.

About your last month you were missing. What do you think is the most important month is this case? The first or the last month? If you just think a little logic: the LAST month !!! If you are are missing the last month it can means: the payments STOPPED. So also here the IO was complete right and you wre wrong and wrong thinking.

I keep myself busy for many years, on another forum, and see the same things passing by: because no right thinking, wrong interpretations, making own conclusions.... always knowing better: a lot of wrong information making people scared and confused.

  9. The rules on Immigration in Thailand are everywhere 'same same but different' T I T ....

When you read carefully the immigration rules you will find a sentence what clearly says:

the Immigration Officer always can ask additional documents if he find it necessary. So they always are right and don't make a discussion, just smile and do what they ask, so you have no problems at all. I suppose in Krabi you don't have to make a trip around the world to go back again to the immigration office and our time we have for free. That is how an optimist look at it.
