  1. I posted this link previously on another thread, but incase you haven't seen it, its a website called Fuelly and users all over the world input their recorded mileage & fuel consumption etc. It keeps a track on how much your spending on fuel and allows you to compare with other drivers of similar cars. I find it really useful, take a look and try it out if you have time: http://www.fuelly.com

  2. You can buy blank sheets of 'future board' which is the corrugated plastic, of various colors. This is commonly used to make most of the for sale signs. Cost 50 Baht a sheet depending on size, available at stationary places like Silipa Ban, just up from Foodland, or upstairs in Friendship on Pattaya Tai. You can then add your own text.

  3. Without the whistle blowers, most Thai people would never be able to leave a parking lot.

And this from the guy who had to ask "what to do with a bag of coins" on the Pattaya forum not long ago.

Keep up the good work Einstein.

Maybe you should get your facts straight , and clean the slurry out of your eyes, before you post insults of other members

I NEVER posted a thread like that on any forum.

Yes you're right, I just thought seeing as you posted a load of rubbish then it was okay for me to do the same. And instead of insulting "most Thai People" as you did, I settled just for you, You get the point?

Edited: removed reference to Einstein, wouldnt want to insult him aswell!

  4. So I've looked around Pattaya in most of the shops (BigC, Tesco, Central, Powerbuy etc) and am struggling to find a decent Panini maker. Can anyone suggest where to buy in Pattaya or surrounding area?

Something like this would do nicely

or can also be a simple version like this

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Tough decision! You either have to stop looking alltogether & go live in a cave somewhere to forget about buying a new car - or bite the bullet and just go for it! smile.png Man retail therapy.

Did I understand correctly that the New Ford Everest is due 2014?

  6. You can order a Roller Lid (or Roller-Up) for your WT through Boy Air & Sound, north Pattaya (Sukhumvit Soi 5 near Isuzu and Mazda dealers). I spoke with him couple of weeks ago and seems there are a few versions available by different manufacturers. Its a shame that we can't get the OEM one thats available for the Aus market.

Here's one example. Raiton Lock http://www.raitonlock.com/product.detail_670205_th_4646873

    Carryboy have one too. http://www.carryboysportlid.com/rollerlid.php

  7. I had the call from my 'dealer' this morning to say that my white plates are ready... I picked up my ranger on 17 sept, so 6 weeks ish .

Another point to note for anyone who is using the government's first car owner scheme - when submitting the documents you have to include the original car booking/deposit slip amongst the paperwork. That was a problem for us because it was actually me who made the booking and my name (rather than my Thai Wife's) was on the slip. No major drama though, luckily the chap at Ford who I dealt with is a good egg an sorted it oot.

    that is all.

  8. Anyone else seeing rust on your new truck's nuts? Mine is two months old with 5km and not near the sea in Issan.

I wouldn't be happy with that either. Especially the Anti Roll Bar bracket. (1st photo) The others won't really cause a problem, they just don't look good.

Mine is 5 weeks old and 4700 kms. Absolutely no rust visible anywhere. Yet............

Just curious did anyone get the 'paint coating' option thrown in when ordering your truck? I did, but not sure what would that have covered exactly? Do they just apply it to specific parts or sections rather than the entire truck?

  9. @jaiyenyen - the 2000 Baht was for 4 point sensors (done by Ford just before I picked it up).

@Gideon - As for the reverse camera, I had that done locally. The camera is wired into a LCD display (which can be mounted on the dash) or wireless into a clip on mirror. Prices for those started from about 3,000 Baht ish. I chose to wire it into a GPS with 5" LCD display which cost a bit more, but it killed 2 birds with 1 stone as I needed a GPS anyway. Nothing flashy, it ain't a Garmin or anything but it works a treat. I just wish I could get the woman to stop telling me to turn left in Chinese :D

There are plenty of other options, just as effective, just make sure whoever fits it doesn't mount the camera in the hole above the license plate - the one you're supposed to use to lower the spare wheel through.

Incidentally, I originally had grand ideas of ordering the Ford OEM camera/mirror kit from the USA (that comes standard on the 3.2 WT) but it was working out at 331 USD around 10,000 Baht just for the parts, including logo emblem, camera, wiring & mirror. I wouldn't have fancied fitting it myself either to be honest so I don't know how much that would have cost on top. Plus there was a niggling doubt in my mind if I would have to change the mirror stem, which as I understand it is attached to the rain sensor on windshield (?). So I decided not to pursue it incase it got messy.

  10. its not hard to drive and park when u get used to it. Dont even need the sensors.

My mate in the car said it feels like being in a tank. Might try and drive over the next Vios that cuts me off.

So what is the diff between the xlt amd the wildtrak?

Yeah my Hi-rider XLt is easy to drive and park however a reverse camera is a must so that you know who or what is behind you as visibility is zero and running over someones child is not worth not having a camera.

It's great having the sensors which, if anything, give you a bit more confidence if you're not used to parking a vehicle of this size, which I wasn't! I totally agree, you get used to it and it doesn't take long. As far as the reverse camera goes, I had one fitted in the first week and its great having it. To put into perspective, sensors will cost you around 2000 Baht fitted, relatively inexpensive. For the money I would say well worth having.

  11. Just picked up my chilli orange 3.2 WT 6AT five days ago, it's been worth the wait.

Good to hear Tom, post some pics if you can...!

    Here is my WT

    Nice pics.

    Mine looks exactly the same.....

    Well apart from

    the 2.2 badge,

    the rims,

    dent on left passenger door,

scratch front left bumber from hitting the wall,

back right bumper scratch from some idiot who didnt leave a note.

Scratches on the bonnet when the cat shit itself when my dog ran up to it.

Man, the chilli orange 3.2 gives me hard on

    Too much information!! laugh.png

  12. Ahhhh Bt.4000 for a blank key fob. Be interesting to know the all in price for one with a key and coded to the vehicle. the Bt20,000 I mentioned above is the all in price to have a useable key fob.

    Just got back from Ford Pattaya and here's a breakdown of the actual costs;

    Blank Key Fob 3,600 Baht

    Programming/coding 730 Baht

Key cutting 650 Baht (I took it to Big C South Pattaya, the nearest I knew of)

    Total 4,980 Baht

There's a page in the manual about programming a new remote yourself. page 27 in my downloaded English manual.

I'd be grateful if you would kindly point me in the direction of where the english version can be downloaded from, for my future reference, thanks alot
