  1. Drug related Islamic militants getting rid of wavering believers Police or para-military vigilantes doing the job the way they see fit ?????????
  2. Ahh ... the future looks so rosy ???????????????????? Yes yes they're coming with much 'quan' to share. We will all be blissfully happy, rich, and content. Meanwhile the 1% will rob the country blind.
  3. I wonder when the wok was produced did the assailant have a dead-pan face?
  4. Agree with you kwilco. The road design and construction standards are quite atrocious here. Properly safety-barrier dual carriageways are essential and would reduce the collateral damage and deaths from oncoming traffic. Well designed road-skirts to bleed of speed of vehicles leaving the roadways would also help. The issues with level transitions at bridged overpasses and connecting panels of concrete surfacing sees cars weighting and unweighting violently. At anything bit slow speeds this is a terrible accident causer here i.e. cars launching landing and loosing control. Never seen such shocking contouring of road surfaces anywhere else in my life. Bad surfaces yes, but such shocking topography/contouring never! Add to this the roadside obstacles you refer to, insane overloading, unroadworthy mod's to vehicles, shocking often non-existent vehicle maintenance, unsafe speeds for road conditions, zero Police radar deterrence, almost zero alcohol and drug roadside testing, very, very poor driving skills, terrible road skill/driving education, all-but zero road safety education and national education programs, belly's full of Khao Lao, No concept of rest-stops on long trips and the tens of thousands killed is what happens. I/we never drive long distance in LOS ever! Wish we could as it would be wonderful to cruise and enjoy the sights and local joys but with the carnage on the roads ... NO WAY!
  5. Touche' LaosLover ????
  6. Traitor Marjorie speaks ... Lets hope as the investigations into J6 continue under Jack Smiths lock-tight judicial skills this traitor will be one of the many GOP traitors to be charged and hopefully sent to prison.
  7. Seems like NATO and the US are coming together quite nicely (Putins remarks and his sycophants remarks seem to show his shock n horror at the way the world has stood against his evil sick invasion) in supporting the utter destruction of the Russian 'ORCS' (love that descriptor of these barbarian hoards). I do feel frightened though at the slowness of response in some vital areas to date e.g. tanks, armoured vehicles, long range missiles and artillery, and up-skilling on battle tactics to maximise Ukrainian fighting abilities. As for the GOP behaviour; NOTE: The bill just tabled by the child abuser Senator and seditionist Matt Gates on trying to turn the tap off for Ukrainian military and monetary support. There is no doubt the GOP today is one of fealty to authoritarianism, despotism, and fascism not only in the US but across the globe ... this is not a remark of attack but a clear statement of facts.
  8. Annoying, and oh-so inconvenient to those who prefer to turn away from the reality of an opposition party (GOP) that has lost its collective mind and soul and is now the pre-eminent and direct threat to the entire democratic experiment ... but entirely true!
  9. Yeah ozimoron ... for a fella thats supposed to be senile and frail (that's a fascist GOP trope) he sure is getting some sh!t done huh! Inherited (as is usual with Republicans) a sick economy i.e. a 30% increase in the entire 240 odd year national debt run up by Traitor Trump in just 4 years. The system in the US is really dysfunctional that's for sure and there needs to be huge reforms in so many areas. From the voting debacle where each state and even counties use different systems and have different rules and can hinder the fundamental rights of people to vote, the judiciary especially the supreme court (no code of conduct or outside checks and balances on their behaviour), the appalling standards of the lobbying corruption and buying of politicians, a tax system that is crashing everyone but the rich, a medical system likewise.
  10. a nice cosy 10 years hard labour prison seems about right for his payment/reward.
  11. JeT ski hire Thailand ... BAD ???????????????? I'm an old school sailor and grew up around yachts so these loud high speed pest thing still grate on my maritime heritage ... still.
  12. A charming disease indeed; Oh dear the sky truly seems to be falling ... ... Note to self! Don't frequent wet markets - anywhere. Don't eat bats or monkeys. Keep clear of monkeys - they bite quite readily. Don't go and play in areas full of bat guano. https://www.who.int/health-topics/marburg-virus-disease#tab=tab_1
  13. OH YEAH!! I can see this semi-circle becoming a Thai drifters wet-dream with nightly Lao Khao sessions and drifters smokin' the heck outa this site ! ????????????????
  14. If you've got the $'s you could upgrade their flights to business this way they get to use the priority lane for I.O. and baggage emerges first. Maybe you might be able to upgrade for part of the leg from the US (I'm not personally familiar with these routes) ... this way you'll not expend as much as if you upgrade for the entire route?
  15. Go visit Kinokuniya Bookstore (online or call can do) and buy a book on the subject of aquatic plants of Thailand or South East Asia. Interesting, you'll learn a lot about the species your planting too, and how to care for and manage them.
  16. Commiserations mate. Maybe take the loss, and sell up n move to a more serene spot for your peace of mind n sanity.
  17. I remember the response in Pattaya (eventually) by the RTP and special CIB squads set in the RTP to the Russians and they treated them swiftly and extremely harshly both on the way to the paddy wagons and in the courts. I'd be curious if any A.N. members have definitive knowledge on how the Russian mafia scourge ended up in Patt's and what it is like now (if it in fact still exists there). I had heard (this was a decade ago) the RTP had royally kicked their @rses well and truly out of Patt's. The more I hear of Russians and watch their antics here over some years e.g. Ukraine (when I see or hear them on my sojourns on the island) the less I want to be anywhere near them. Seems a lot of Russian males I see seem to throw their weight and youthful power about at the drop of a hat (just looking at them by chance), seems to offer opportunities to intimidate and stand-over others. Saw a Dutch guy, seemed like a polite, decent fella (a boxer by the look of his handling of these two fellas) was accosted by two muscled up Ruskies in one of our favourite French breakfast spots (one of them was seriously big) in Bang Tao a little while back and when they came at him - because they insisted he step aside and let them pass slapped the boxers chest with the back of his hand to 'swat' him aside, he flattened both of them right quick lol ????????
  18. Poor kid, RIP ???? young fella. Buy-back amnesty, amongst other gun-removal laws and enforcement needed ASAP.
  19. Sad, RIP lady. Message to self: No trips to Kohn Tao or seas around.
  20. Two rounds to the centre mass of the body ... Very professional shooter.
  21. Perhaps a similar feeling to taking home what appears to a super hot Thai gal and finding out whats under the hood doesn't match the panel-work ... she isn't a girl at all?!!? Disclaimer: I have zero knowledge of such things happening personally I just heard it that someone I knew who knew someone who knew someone apparently had this happen to them lol ????????
  22. Alas must confess !! I only wai people if I think there is some gain for me in doing so. Yes, I know I am a shallow transparent man lol ???????? Its interesting how the wai is perceived and used here, in this forum and amongst Thai's as we non-Thai's report to to be. In Indian culture the wai is called a "namaste". It is a sign of acknowledgement of the life-force or Prana that exists in all of us, and in respect to that. For those who identify with a singular god concept this intentional action could be interpreted as an acknowledging via the namaste or wai as a recognition of the God that exists in all of us. As a devote of Yoga I use the wai in the Prana way. This is always my intentionality in using it. I don't do it to look cool, to appear to cow-tow, or to fit in with some social norm. I do it and, it brings me a momentary sense of one-ness, even a visceral feeling of love and compassion for the other and thus myself (see I told you I was oh-so shallow and selfish) serenity and humility as I walk though life. In doing so the simple act brings a moment of deflation to my appallingly over-sized ego.
  23. Note the racist intent in some of the posts. Runs deep and can't wait to rear its ugly head at any opportunity.
  24. I have no idea if it would prevent this Twilight Zone disease but I always rub tea tree oil on any mosquito bite asap. For me it stops the itch immediately, is rapidly absorbed through the skin. It's a powerful antiseptic; kills germs n bacteria. It also repels mozzies. I use the old Mercurochrome (my dad used it on all his cuts and abrasions) or coloured iodine for scratches, gardening wounds. never get any wound infections.
