Ahh the joys of smoking; Setting fire to your home, blood pressure, heart disease, wrinkly leathery skin, a whole raft of fatal cancers, the foulest breath, stinking up enclosed spaces you frequent, and those you pass through (like Linus shedding his dirt as he went about), gum diseases, yellow diseased teeth, passing on the cancerous ingredients via passive smoking exchange. What a joy! ????

Oh dear ... looks like someone forget to lock the locked-ward door. Someone get nurse Ratchet quick. -
Yep OMF. AS far as I am aware internationally underwriters won't pay out of you don't stipulate you are going to ride bikes or drive a car when you apply for a policy. There may be some out there but in all my years of traveling and living in England, continental Europe, US, Japan, Indo, and Australia I never saw an underwriter that didn't ask specific crunch questions about riding or driving as a clear criteria and condition of covering a person. I hope she gets enough and speedy assistance with the GFMe page.

Anyway you cut it its a lower than low act to drive into and throw a person 5 metres onto a roadway then ride off, injure them badly, then try to getaway with it. As for blaming the pedestrian it is a fundamental rule of the road (worldwide) that all vehicles must (regardless of whether they have right of way or not) give way if there is risk of hitting a pedestrian.

No ED Visa for over 50s
Tropposurfer replied to FreddieMercury's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It wasn't so in 2019. "Greasing palms" was directly told to all the ED students I knew that to 'guarantee' your 90 day stamp it was standard practice for ALL ED holders (from a large section of the language schools on the island I spoke with anyways) to be encouraged to pay 5000 baht for the 90 day extension instead of the 1900 baht scheduled fee. Otherwise there was a clear threat, discussed by me with my school headmaster as the way I.O. want it and if i wished to not pay the 5000 I had to be prepared to having my extension refused (and that he knew of happening many times of the 'fee' was paid). There was no delineation between scammers using the ED to stay a year from valid students who attended classes a few times a week studied and who were diligent in learning, like me. If there was a kickback to the schools I saw nothing of that, but what I did see, every time I went to my extension stamp, was my 5000 disappear along with my passport, form, and money go into a tray and then the hands of I.O. along with piles of others passports also with 5000 in them! I have thankfully passed through that visa type and onto a retirement visa now and a smooth I.O. experience now. Every other student felt the same way as me about this; 'not happy Jan' as the Aussie advertisement proclaimed. Despite most of us realising and to a degree accepting that in some sections of government operations in LOS there is graft and corruption and to be able to stay and study, which I really enjoyed, prior to deciding to retire there was simply 2 clear choices. Maybe its changed now but back then (I was told by a few different schools students) that this extortion had been in place for years. -

Are some Thai metaphors stigmatising single women?

Speaking of western nations its been my experience the further right folks sit the more such attitudes predominate. I wonder how this contrasts and compares to LOS culture? -
Thai hit and run suspect in US flees Chonburi home

What a charming individual runs over someone, knows it, flees, then after ages of reflection on their crime and cruel, selfish indifference continues to flee. -
Covid Count Reaches Around 2,800-3,889 A Day In Thailand
Tropposurfer replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And your point in saying this is? Vaccination did not, and was not ever guaranteed to provide immunity from infection. Vaccination does however reduce morbidity and fatality to a high degree in vaccinated against unvaccinated people.- 128 replies

If the ship took on water rapidly then unless you're standing right next to a lift preserver rack and even then perhaps not enough time to put one on, and you can't swim well, then the result is as it was. The original images (previously posted on A.N.) I saw of the ship before she listed to starboard as in this pic were of whole sections of the steel side plating just forward of amidships seemed to be delaminating. Such a catastrophic breach in the hull structure (if this in fact was the case) it would make entry of the sea into compartments extremely rapid, powerful, and violent. Anyone here ever been on or seen a boat/ship sink first hand for such a catastrophic hull breach? I have and its extremely quick.

Should Uber be allowed to operate in Bangkok and other heavy traffic areas?
Tropposurfer replied to moon47's topic in Bangkok
All these type of services need to be allowed ( so long as the parent organisation pays decent rates and charges to its drivers). Competition as long as its on a fair playing field (ahhh does this exist in the land of brown envelopes me wonders??) is good for service and maintaining good standards. Uber rocks in the nations we use it occasionally in. At home in Aussie its very good to excellent and safe as houses. Far better than the standard taxi system for speed of service, drive, and delivery in my opinion. Grab in LOS has been, the few times we've used it in BKK, been excellent. -
Suvarnabhumi Improves Services Amid Thailand’s Tourism Rebound
Tropposurfer replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A fully automated passport scanning system for citizens returning (you simply place your passport in the doc and away you go to claim your bags), and for permanent residents too would help, larger capacity luggage scanning (I heard from someone at Elite when we discussed the large queues recently seen as we made our way to our dedicated IO station) that they have too few of these by international standards and not enough staff to man them) and that the huge check-in and I.O. queues were due to staffing levels and slow (overloaded) I.T. systems mainly. More automated electronic sniffing devices, more sniffer dogs, and maybe a better trained customs staff milling and observing amongst the passengers in the halls would relive some of the issues with returning folks at the least. As for the IO passport checks, it seems from my experience travelling for a log time that Thai I.O.'s are about the same as e.g. U.S., Aussie I.O.'s for non-citizens (strict examination of documents). -

A right piece of filth ... preying on people ... how low can a person stoop -
I cannot imagine how the mother is feeling. I am no longer a praying man but I do send hope, compassion, and strength to all involved and a safe speedy recovery of the innocent bub's to mums arms ???????? Its a sad to have to acknowledge such thing but we as adults must be observant and act if there is any sniff, any gut feeling of children's safety being compromised.
