No dye/contrast. It was 7200 baht. I initially said that I had a referral to a Chiang Mai MRI center from my orthopedist's clinic in Chiang Mai, as I thought that might be needed or useful, but they explained that with a doctor's referral the fee was 9000 baht. I then said I was coming in for the MRI without a doctor's referral and was given the 7200 baht price. I guess they pay a commission.

Thanks! I wish I could go to BCH but it looks like I better go see Dr. Mason at Bumrungrad as he is a shoulder specialist and have made a booking with him. I just got my MRI results an hour ago and while it is mostly gibberish to me it does look like surgery will be recommended, although I am holding out hope for trying physical therapy again first.

By the way Sheryl, I noticed in a previous thread that you recommended an orthopedist at Chula hospital and I thought I would give the after hours clinic a try as I live walking distance from there. Registration went fairly smoothly but your suggested doctor was not available so they recommended another doctor whose specialty was shoulders and who was available in about a week. I arrived at 4 pm last week and saw the doctor around 6:30 pm. I basically wanted his opinion on getting a shot of corticosteroid. Nice guy, said he did not think that was a good idea as it weakens the tendon and said I needed an MRI which would be about 8000 baht. I spent a total of two minutes with him. He did a couple of strength tests and that was it, but I understand they did indicate the need for an MRI. The fee was 1200 baht which seemed a bit high to me. I guess if I didn't have insurance and potentially needed to do the surgery at a public hospital I might have done the MRI there and consulted with him again but I decided against going back, mostly due to the waiting.

I am having a shoulder MRI for a suspected rotator cuff tear this weekend at Prachachuen MRI and then plan on taking the results to an orthopedist. Any recommendations for a doctor, preferably at Saint Louis or Bangkok Christian hospitals. I have seen that Sheryl recommends Dr. Mason at Bumrungrad, but I just recently had a series of GI tests there that left me thinking I would like to avoid them. However, if that is the best I will go there. Sheryl? Thanks! I suspect a full tear and surgery given the amount of pain I have, but I hope I am wrong. I do have inpatient insurance so if need be I can go to a more expensive hospital.

Apparently there is some way to transfer money from my USA account to my Bangkok Bank account going through the New York Bangkok Bank branch that is cheaper than doing an international wire transfer. I can't figure out how to do it though. I guess I'll call my USA bank to figure it out but I just thought I'd check in and see if anybody has successfully set it up. I know I can use Wise but I like the security of staying within the regulated banking system. I'm not using it for a retirement visa so that is not a concern. Thanks.

Did you get your watermelon? I ordered it from Bog C Rajadamri but later received a phone call that it's actually not in stock.
-
I mean what store? Big C and Lotus show out of stock for me.

From where please?

I have chosen to ignore some content, but that branded seedless watermelon never seems to be available, must be a limited seasonal crop. Happy to proven wrong!

The number of seeds in the watermelons here! I wonder why there are no seedless watermelons in Thailand. I guess you have to buy seedlings and it doesn't make economic sense for the farmers. I like watermelon juice and it is just darn annoying.....

Rotator cuff physical therapist recommendation?
ricklev replied to ricklev's topic in Health and Medicine
Thanks! I will check out BPC. Can either of you recommend a specific therapist by name? Or is it just one person? -
An orthopedist in Chiang Mai treated my shoulder with a cortisone injection, after he suspected a rotator cuff sprain or tear, which really helped for almost a year. When the gyms opened back up I returned to fairly low level fixed weight lifting and gradually the pain returned also. Another cortisone shot did not help much. I guess it is time for an MRI as suggested by the orthopedist and I will likely do that. I am now in Bangkok and I wonder if anyone has had a good experience with a physical therapist and avoided surgery? Hoping to get a recommendation for a specific person and maybe an orthopedist also. Thanks.

I am not claiming the law doesn't exist. I am saying it is not enforced. In addition the lessee, the person who rents from the owner, is not breaking any law and has done absolutely nothing illegal by renting through Airbnb or another site. (My bad that it was not clear that I was referring to the lessee not the lessor.) It is not a personal bar stool opinion. I am a lawyer here (well a legal advisor technically) and I teach Thai business law. I'm not arguing that short term rentals should be allowed. I am just telling you the reality of the situation. -

In May of 2018 a Hua Hin condo owner was convicted under that law. Since then??? Maybe one other conviction that I know of and that was a short term party house rental in a mooban. Everybody knows it is a law that is not enforced and that there is no legal danger, although it may be against condo regulations. And, by the way, there is no law against renting a condo for a short time. The renter of a short term condo has not broken the law no matter how long he rents for. That said, it is a no brainer. Don't stay where you are not wanted. -
Can anyone recommend a specific doctor by name that they have had a good experience with for a dental implant on Bangkok? I'm also curious about people's experience with the different brands of implants. There seems to be a lot of price variation. Finally, any comments about the implant process in general. First time for me. Thanks!

They don't want the business. They could offer a sort by English menu button with virtually no programming effort but they don't. You can use their online site with Chrome and Google Translate the page, although logging in to see the prices is annoying as you must use a phone access code each time. It is the easiest way though. https://food.grab.com/th/en/?utm_source=grab.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=hero-banner-food-product&pid=Grab.com&c=hero-banner

Fake Gillette razor blades SCAM on most online stores Now! !@#$%
ricklev replied to WaveHunter's topic in General Topics
Well, I bought them. I hope so. Lazada says double your money back if they are fake if sold in LazMall. They haven't arrived yet though.
