"The primary goal of this heightened campaign is to ensure the safety of tourists..." God bless their pure hearts!

So many hate him, but he brought government health care to the poor, among many other things. Who could possibly blame them for loving him?

Pun Pun is likely gone forever. I expect the overengineered bike stands will block the sidewalks for a while longer. However, there are some app bikes sitting next to the deserted Pun Pun stand on Rajadamri close to the entrance to the park. You just scan the QR code, set up a payment card and off you go. I forgot the name of the bike rental app. I walk past there all the time and see them there. They look OK, fairly new. Better than the Pun Pun bikes anyway.

British Teacher Who Allegedly Molested a Minor arrested in Thailand
ricklev replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
It is only a crime if the parents or the girl file a complaint. No complaint - no crime. That's all I am saying. And I'm only saying it because it's an interesting aspect of Thai law. -
British Teacher Who Allegedly Molested a Minor arrested in Thailand

You seem to be saying I have some interest in young girls. I don't. However, as a lawyer, I have an interest in Thai law. Please do explain the "qualifiers and amendments" that make my post incorrect. I am always happy to learn, but I prefer it be without character assassination. -
Thai government may lift afternoon alcohol sales ban to boost tourism

Progress! They have moved from the mulling stage through the considering stage to the planning to ask the committee stage. -
British Teacher Who Allegedly Molested a Minor arrested in Thailand

The interesting thing about this is that, since the age of consent in Thailand is 15, there is no crime at all until the parents make a complaint to the police. Before that, the headline would be: British Man has Completely Legal Sexual Intercourse with a Minor. And that all changes after the parental complaint. -
13 Nabbed In Raid On Khao San Road Shops Selling Laughing Gas Balloons

Must have been difficulty to find some of the sellers. I mean it's not like their stands were set up 100 meters from a major police station. -
I mailed in the 90 day to Chaengwattana, after renewing my passport and moving my visa/extension to my new passport. I was fully prepared to pay the 2,000 baht fine next time I renewed my visa as after spending a full day doing the passport transfer I couldn't bear the thought of another Chaengwattana experience . All hope was lost but 5 weeks later or so I received the approval in my mailbox.

This is the brand they used although maybe not the exact switch. It says RMT on my key. https://shopee.co.th/product/36835245/5634045970?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2eKtBhDcARIsAEGTG43cKDKwFg2BET5InLC5RSasRRIe4PQLU-6UGzlfAESnNS_l3LLQNn4aAjrIEALw_wcB

Too late for that, but they do seem to have fixed it as it worked fine today.

Thanks! So maybe 1500 baht was not outrageous even with an aftermarket switch? I am curious to know if I was overcharged.

Honda Wave 125R. It went full dead at Lumpini Park right after posting this. I had a mobile mechanic I found on Google pick it up and they said it needed an ignition switch. They charged me 800 baht for picking it up and returning it to my condo and 1500 baht for the aftermarket (not Honda) part and labor. Seemed pretty expensive to me given that the ignition switch kit on Lazada sells for 100-200 baht but not much I could do about it. How long does it actually take to replace the switch and seat lock? Anyway, it seems to be working OK although I just got it back this evening and haven't ridden it anywhere.

Thanks. I will have them check the ignition switch next. What's weird is that power is restored without jiggling or moving anything. It just lights up after a little while and starts working again.

I have a 2005 Honda Wave 125 with no electric starter. I have had it since new and it is well-maintained, at least to the extent that I can get the mechanics to properly maintain it. I replaced the battery a couple of months ago, however it has developed an odd electrical problem. Sometimes after stopping it will not have any power at all. No lights, horn, gear indicator lights etc. as though the battery is completely dead. Kickstarting does nothing. Then, after a couple of minutes and doing nothing I can pinpoint as making a difference, the power will return as seen by the green neutral light which was off when dead. It happened this morning and I put the ignition on and rode down the parking garage slope and put it into third and it started up with full battery power. I rode it to the local Somchai shop and asked them to check the ground wire but he said that was good. He cleaned the already clean terminals and the various connectors, but it is still acting up. Worse maybe. It does run with the battery disconnected so that must mean the generator is good. It has no cut out switch on the kickstand. Any ideas what it could be? Is there a relay to check? Is it possible the battery has a bad cell. He insisted the battery was good but I am tempted to shell out the 350 baht for a new one and see if that fixes it, although the battery is almost new. Actually though, on the way to the shop this morning it briefly lost power when I was riding it and stalled but then started again due to my moving in gear so maybe not the battery.... Thanks.

It is definitely Windows 11 Pro. I don't know why they write it that way.

And this.... https://www.lazada.co.th/products/new-2024-bmax-b4-mini-pc-intel-12th-gen-n95-ram-16gb-ssd-512gb-windows-11-1-i3346863493-s13103513797.html?spm=a2o4m.10453683.0.0.601a2a55NwwufV&priceCompare=skuId%3A13103513797%3Bsource%3Alzd-shop-center%3Bsn%3A2101406f17058084334527336ef1ea%3BunionTrace%3A2101406f17058084334527336ef1ea%3BoriginPrice%3A669900%3BvoucherPrice%3A669900%3BdisplayPrice%3A669900%3BsinglePromotionId%3A-1%3BsingleToolCode%3AmockedSalePrice%3BvoucherPricePlugin%3A1%3BbuyerId%3A0%3Btimestamp%3A1705808433490%3BsearchDisctDet%3A[{"discountValue"%3A0%2C"toolCode"%3A"addOnDeals"%2C"voucherId"%3A900000013043665}]&search=store I really did not do a good Lazada search!

Yes, that looks good! About 1800 baht more than the one I bought on Amazon but a one year Thai warranty is nice. I'm not sure how well the I3 processor compares to the N95 but it probably doesn't matter for my purposes. And Beelink is reputable.

I bought this on Amazon USA recently to replace an aging PC. Amazingly good and surprisingly cheap; with free shipping and online coupon it was $166 or about 6000 baht total. It comes with legit Windows 11 Pro installed and no bloatware. https://www.amazon.com/TRIGKEY-Generation-Processors-Mini-PC/dp/B0C2STZ2M5?th=1 My question is if there is anywhere in Bangkok I can go buy another or a comparable mini at a similar price? Everything seems older with lower specs and/or more expensive on Lazada. Mini PCs! Who knew?

Hmmm. OK. Seems useful to me, but I am not going to war about it.

For peace of mind: http://tinyurl.com/4pzd78vk or something like that. They also make more expensive ones that will send you a message, I think. http://tinyurl.com/4pzd78vk

Mine was rejected even after I transferred my visa extension to the new passport. Instead of going to Chaengwattana I mailed it in after the rejection but a few days past the due date for mail submission and 6 weeks later received the receipt with my next reporting date. And the next time it was accepted online. I was prepared to pay the 2000 baht fine but it all worked out.

Yes! Great prices, excellent inventory, and helpful service in English.
