  1. I read a New York Times article a couple of days ago on a specific twisting exercise for tennis elbow which requires a Thera-Band Flex bar per the attached picture. Has anybody ever seen Thera-Band products here. I emailed the company with no response.

Maybe someone has seen some other kind of flexible rod that would work....(Keep it clean boys!)

    Thanks!

  2. any new news?
Just called Chiang Mai and they are open so if you travel up north it may be worth keeping your membership active. I have a 750 annual fee on my all club VIP membership and was told I will need to drive to Bangkok to pay or Chiang Mai. I don't expect any of the clubs to be open by early nest year. Too much legal baggage and it isn't going to disappear until there are zero assets left to go after.

Who knows what they will or won't do from day to day, but when Silom closed I called "customer service" and they extended my yearly all gym membership by one year with no fee as it was the gym I joined at.

I just read a Bangkok Post article that said they are still debiting the credit cards of members who joined at gyms other than Paragon. Amazing that they can get away with that.

  3. People who get razor burn have never been taught how to shave correctly.

If you watch many of the TV adverts closely, you can see them drag the blade against the direction of hair growth.

Here is a photo of a guy that doesn't know how to shave, this will burn your skin.

    post-152992-0-55935900-1346751067_thumb.

(This photo was rather incredibly taken from an article '4 steps to a perfect shave')

and again, an advert advertising 'moisturising gel', you'll need it if you shave like this.

How not to shave with a Gillette Fusion, he's gonna have serious razor burn.

If your dad taught you to shave, it will always have been to shave with the direction of the hair ...... no razor burn.

And finally, this is how to shave correctly

It doesn't matter how I shave. When I use the Mach 3 it's perfect every time with never a cut or burn. And it takes about 45 seconds of my day in my morning shower. I would be happy to pay twice as much!

  4. You can easily obtain these genuine TOP NOTCH blades from Amazon and have a good friend bring them over with other items you just can't find in Thailand. $2.64 each, no tax, no domestic shipping costs. I used Mach 3 for many years, thought that was a good shave, but Fusion really are a huge step up.

In the coming week, we will be shipping your Gillette Fusion Manual Cartridges 12 Count subscription order. If you would like to skip this delivery or make subscription changes, please do so immediately.

    Subscribe & Save Item:

Gillette Fusion Manual Cartridges 12 Count

    Quantity: 1

    Subscribe & Save price: $31.44

    Regular price: $36.99

Hard to believe a razor could be better than the Mach 3! I hope to try the Fusion some day then. I rank Viagra and and the Mach 3 as the pinnacle products of free market science and engineering.

  5. What's up with eztv.it?

Recently, using True in Bangkok, about 90 percent of the time it won't load. If I check it with a proxy though it works fine, although I can't download the torrents. (legal torrents only of course!) Is True blocking it? Is it working for you? It's the best!

  6. I've been watching that guy in Phuket (maybe it's Samui?) try to sell his bike for weeks. I hate the fact that he is pretending in his ads that the bike is somehow legal and that all the documents are there to get it registered. It needs to be emissions tested and that's perhaps 75 thousand baht with no guarantee it will pass. Times have changed. It's harder and harder to find a fixer with the connections to get a green book. It's not legal to ride that bike. It will be nothing but headaches.

I've been watching with some amusement, too.

    It's Samui.

He first advertised it in June 2011 for 135,000 baht and it's been advertised non-stop ever since - 14 months.

I was interested - until I also found out that it actually has an 800cc motor that's had one cylinder blanked (presumably to make the Green Book cheaper).

He's now moved away from Samui, has dropped the price to 80,000 and it's still for sale.

  7. It's unbelievably painless to renew your registration here, compared to America anyway. In and out in a few minutes every time. Inspection does add another step to the parade.

In most states in the USA it involves a long wait with a bunch of miserable bastards before being "served" by a disgruntled civil servant.

  9. Thai Fitness Club In Poor Financial Health

Members of the California Wow Xperience fitness club are irate over a letter asking for a membership fee increase, even after the fitness club closed several branches. The company is being sued in Bankruptcy court for unpaid debts of 76 million baht.

BANGKOK – August 14,2012 [PDN]; The California Wow Xperience Ltd. last week sent a letter to fitness center members to increase the annual membership fees for lower-paying customers.

For members paying less than 40,000 baht per year, the membership fee increase would rise from 100 baht to 600 baht. Members paying more than 40,000 baht in fees per year would pay only the same $100 fee increase.

The ailing fitness club has gradually closed various branches, including the last remaining Siam Paragon branch.

Mr. Jirachai Multhongroi, Secretary-General of the Office of Consumer Protection (OCP), said he has received more than 100 complaints from fitness club members since late April.

As a result, the Consumer Protection Board called the entrepreneur to negotiate. At first, the company welcomed canceled contracts by customers and was willing to pay their damages.

But the company later wrote a request to the Consumer Protection Board to allow them to stop receiving the complaints for a while, because the company was currently in the process of financial recovery.

After its recovery, California Wow plans to allow customers to visit any branch, and to extend memberships beyond a year.

The OCPs sub-committee of lawsuit screening had written to the court to inquire about the fitness company’s situation. The court confirmed that the company had filed for reorganization, after a lawsuit by a Bangkok bank in Bankruptcy Court, claiming unpaid debts of 75.78 million baht.

The next court hearing on the case is scheduled for August 18. A decision is expected to be finalized by September 2012. Meanwhile, the Consumer Protection Board will be monitoring the reorganization of the company.

If the reorganization fails and California Wow goes bankrupt, the OCP will make claims for damages by affected customers.

However, if the fitness chain has any chance of recovering, it should be given that opportunity, Mr. Jirachai said.

The OCP has written a letter to both Thai commercial banks, the Bank of Ayudhya and Krung Thai Bank, asking to withhold payment from California Wow members for three months.

Consumers looking for more information, or who would like to receive compensation from the company, may contact the OCP Board during office hours.

  10. There is no real NY pizza in Thailand.. sorry.

Yes there is, in Patteya and guess what the name is "New York Pizza".

dam_n good pizza there!!! No connection with them, just very happy with the pizza.

  11. The regular are not to be found in Phuket either. I have a friend that has a few mini marts, and she told me that her chip distributor claims that Lays only uses the best potatoes, which are in shortage now for the plain chips. The #2 potatoes are used for the flavored chips.

I love Kettle brand Salt and Vinegar.

Oh yeah, about ten years ago I sat in on a marketing review meeting for Pepsico or Frito Lay and they mentioned the potato problem in Thailand. Something about only one crop per year instead of two?

I also remember them using the word "extruded" a lot with reference to their other fine snack food products.

And I remember one of the international team opening a sample of Lay's plain chips, eating one, and then proclaiming, "That's a good chip!"
