At Sunrise Tacos Mexican grill, we make our flour tortillas from fresh homemade dough on our El Tortilla Presso. (All are 100% cholesterol free using canola oil). Every dish on the Sunrise Taco’s menu was inspired, perfected, and approved by our talented chefs from Mexico. We only offer dishes that capture the heart of real Mexican style and flavour. At Sunrise Tacos Mexican restaurant in Bangkok. we start with corn imported from the USA to make masa and cook our corn chips fresh throughout the day using trans-fat free rice bran oil and corn oil.
They used to sell the wet masa. I would give them a call......

Did you go? What did you think?
I did make the fairly inconvenient trip there on Saturday and everything in the food court was open but the Ethiopean restaurant. I had called the hospital first and learned they are only open 9-3, but I guess they took the day off. The stand next door said they were open on Friday. However, I found a pretty good Burmese stand in the food court and had a good Mohinga and some extremely oily Burmese curries.
In the mood for Ethiopean food I headed to Soi Africa off Nana to try the other new place on Sunday. However they were also closed. An Indian guy in the Indian restaurant directly opposite said the police came and closed them on Saturday night. I asked why and he shook his head sadly and said there was too much drinking and fighting. (Actually, he shook his head in an Indian manner and I might have been projecting the sadness through my western cultural lens.)

Sunrise Tacos makes their own masa from USA corn and used to sell the prepared masa in bulk. I'm not saying it's good, just that that's what they say.....

I can't make it clearer. Danitas and El Charro are the two manufacturers of tortillas in Thailand.
Sunrise Tacos makes their own.

El Charro and Danittas are your only thai made choices. I prefer el charro as they don't use preservatives. That's what Villa sells, along with some expensive and not that good imports.

Soi 20. It's pretty good, but a bit weird atmosphere for my taste. Subjective opinion. Worth trying.

Thanks! I will go there for lunch today. We went from 0 to 3 in a few months. There is a God and ______ is his name O.

Concur. I had a meal from one of her chains at Platinum Shopping Plaza next to Pantip and it was dreadful. Doesn't she care about what it does to her name and reputation? Is Mrs Balabir's the one with a chain of small booth in various shopping centers? I think I tried them at Central Chitlom on the ground floor in the Tops super market - worst ever unfortunately, just terrible.

Bk restaurant suk rd soi phra khanong between soi 3-5 .80 baht for the vege thali ,90 baht for the non vege thali .lassi 30 baht .enjoy - g
Coincidentally just ate there for the first time. Had a veg thali. Not bad, not very good. Cheap. Very nice people. Nowhere near as good as the 100 baht veg thali at balbirs in Robinson Asoke food court.
I'll go back to try the Burmese food though.
sukhumvit 71 between Soi 3 and 5.

I wouldn't hand over the money until Land Transport office says all is OK. Therefore buyer and seller going together is a requisite. That's just me though.

What percentage smell badly of BO or have cabs that stink of some toxic air freshner product?
How many illegally lock the doors so you can't get out?
Ithe smelling bad goes into the 30 percent moderatly annoying category.
Locking the doors to prevent exiting? That's a strange one.

Left my Honda wave at the airport three days a week for two years with never a problem.
I did wrap a big chain up from the rear tire and over the seat and lock it though. Chain and lock cost about 200 baht.

Thanks.

Based on thousands of trips in Bangkok: A guesstimate:
3 percent of the drivers are at a high enough level of obvious emotional distress and/or cognitive impairment to make dealing with them very unpleasant.
60 percent are normal people doing their best to provide a good service and are fine to deal with.
30 percent do something moderately annoying.
7 percent are unfathomable.

I haven't read the whole thread, so someone might have said this before. The GT 200 might be useless for detecting bombs, however it is an excellent detector of morons and liars. It is sometimes not quite possible to distinguish between the two though.

Thanks for the information and suggestions!

I know this topic has come up before, but perhaps someone has experience with 3M film.
I'm buying a car and the dealer is including 3M film. I have pretty bad night vision since having LASIK a few years ago. They suggested 60 in the front and 40 on the windshield is normal and no problem. I'm concerned about any limitation on seeing at night at all. However, I'm thinking about buying a black car and sure would like some sunscreen. Maybe black is a bad idea.
I also like the privacy of dark windows.
Thoughts and suggestions? Thanks!

I don't like it with beer. I tell them when I first order to leave the bottle on the cart close by or on the table and not to pour or open a new bottle without asking. It really really annoys me when a restaurant only offers extremely expensive bottled water and then tops up glasses and opens new bottles without asking. I've known people to end up with water charges of more than 1000 baht.

I agree 100% with the OP. All the expats I know are like me. When a taxi driver refuses to take you where he knows full well he should be taking you, he is being a lazy ass and deserves to be told that. The simple "open his rear door trick" works wonders. I do it every time and everyone else I know does. Sooner or later the message will get through.
I don't get angry, I don;t pick a fight, I just open the door once I have told them the law states they should accept the fare. This is enough to make the point.
In my view anyone who does not take action and just accepts it has been here too long! This is not Thai culture or the Thai way - it's just plain ignorance and laziness and continues because most Thais are too subservient to speak out.
Well those of us who are lucky enough to have come from other cultures where we are taught not to accept breaking the law, have a duty to pass on our experience for th good of all.
It's simple. You want to drive a taxi and get paid for the work. Do the job properly! Follow the rules and treat your customer with respect which means don't pick your nose, don't spit, turn the meter on and don't refuse a valid fare....
Don't like the rules, get another job!
I am sure I'll be told I'm arroagnt etc etc but that is rubbish. For all those who want to accept Thailand the way it is, where are you planning on drawing the line in their culture? Rude taxis, ok?, beating women - not ok?, leaving kids to fry in school buses - not ok? Thailand is a great place but accepting the things that are wrong helps no-one!!!
The system is what it is. It's unrealistic to expect the driver to never say no. And let's not forget that it's the Thai system that allows an unlimited number of taxis, an abundance to be sure, at prices so cheap it feels like its almost free. All resting on the backs of the poor bastards who drive them.
-
I really don't mind asking if they can take me to a destination. What pisses me off is when I ask politely in Thai and they respond by just driving off or speaking rudely or making a rude dismissive gesture or just being a <deleted> in some bizarre way. That probably happens 20 percent of the time to me as I have to take taxis to and from an inconvenient location a few times a week . A simple mai dai khap is all that is required, but it seems to be beyond their social abilities. Of course what I think is impolite seems not even to phase the Thais, so its pretty much entirely my problem!

Healthy Mate is the Thai company that imports Bragg products such as liquid aminos and apple cider vinegar. Bragg also sells nutritional yeast. I've emailed Healthy Mate.
-
I've hoped to find nutritional yeast here for years. No luck. Times are sure changing though in terms of western health food availability here at the supermarkets. It's just a matter of time before it turns up.

Sold Car - Do I Have To Accompany The Buyer To The Dept Of Transport?

When you buy a used car, is there some sort of inspection? Does the car have to be at the Land Transport office when the change of ownership is registered? Is there something like an engine serial number rubbing that needs to be done?
