I have no idea what you're on about.
I've never arrived at Manila airport with anything but the return ticket.
Quote from OP:
I attended the embassy to obtain 60/90 day tourist visa for me and my Phillipina partner.
OP applied visa for Thailand, in Philippines.
My previous post was correct regarding requirements for tourist visa application FOR Thailand, when applied for in Philippines, same OP did.

Manila requirement:
* Bank statement showing 1.000 USD.
*Plane ticket arrival and departure.
* Hotel accommodation for the full period of stay.
* Alternative lease contract.

And I haven't even started on the national gateway: that dilapidated and festering sore that is Manila airport.
Philippines has 12 International airports.
Easy to avoid Manila, if that's important for some.

.....Air pollution part 2 .....
From livingincebuforums
Thread: Air pollution level Cebu
Quote: Regardless of cement dust, the PM10 levels from diesel exhaust can be terrible in the Cebu metro area when the conditions are bad for smog retention in the metro area. Even without any cement dust, the sooty petroleum bi-product fallout coats everything it touches, including your lungs. Even with my car under cover in our garage at night, there is still a fresh layer of this crap covering my car every morning. It isn't as if it is attracted to car surfaces. It is totally indiscriminate, and will settle in your lungs or sinuses just as readily. Do you have a cough and lung and sinus congestion when living here? Now you know why. Of course, those living a couple of thousand feet above sea level don't have to worry nearly as much as those living down in the city Quote.

Agree with BritManToo, Boracay is mostly young crowd (Koreans), so if one is 50+ I would choose another destination. The beaches at Boracay was beautiful, but very commercial / touristy.
Talking about beaches, going to Bohol end of the month. Will test out internet speed, and I expect much better air quality there.
Edit: Cerox when you 31 y.o. you will fit in at Boracay, but as said, it's highly touristy place with high tourist prices. People who lived there called Boracay for 'bora bora' for boredom ...

Thank you Destiny, that is valuable feedback. Do they charge for motorbike parking too? Or only cars? That would be another reason to just keep it simple with no own vehicle first.
700 - 1000 peso per month, for a tiny parking slot in condo buildings. Often requires a lease contract for the parking space.

I've been riding a 125cc scooter here in Cebu for the last 5 years, and I have never carried my Passport. The occasional Vehicle Check Point is to look at licences and documentation (of which I carry photocopies under the seat). I remember when I lived in Bangkok, we were supposed to carry Passports all the time, but I always carried a photocopy, and never had any issue.
Bm Cerox don't have a local driving license or a IDL. He asked about use foreign license, and then one are required to have IDL and passport while driving.
I asume you misunderstood and talk about driving with PH license?
Doesn't matter, YMMV in all asian countries.
Tsk: Mandaue area ie are famous for semi weekly comprehensive
Vehicle Check Point, hardly occasional, but very frequent.

How is the Cebu air pollution compared to Chiang Mai? Is it CM burning all year because of the different pollution from the jeepneys etc. or better?
Air quality and pollution are a big problem here in Central Visayas, Cebu.
Not much burning here compared to Thailand, but trucks and jeepney are to blame. When these vehicles don't pass the emission test, a small bribe fix that, and the pollution continue.
Many get breathing problems, bronchitis, sinus.
Dumaguete and Bohol have better air quality imo.

I've seen plenty of photos of Filipino food and to be honest, I couldn't live on that.
Do you cook your own food from time to time? Is, meat, veggies, etc expensive?
Hi Isaanbiker.
I don't eat local food either, so eat out often, and also cook at home.
Vegetables are of less quality than in Thailand.
Posted photos of food and prices before.
No doubt that food in Thailand is much much better.
Overall, Philippines is 7-8% cheaper than Thailand, according to survey posted earlier, and that is my personal experience as well.
