Pattaya condos unsellable and unrentable.
Depends on the condo. In my place the prices rise each year since I bought in 2009 and you hardly can find one on sale. Owners mostly wealthy Thais from BKK, foreign ownership around 25%. Very well managed and maintained.

...and still no reliable answer to what happens to expats who are vaxxed in their home countries on "the way to normal" - whatever "normal" should mean in Thailand.

Maybe you should avoid your 25-Baht noodle shops in soi nowhere and get an idea what thai food can be.

With 50k you imho won't live "like a king" or even very comfortably in Pattaya, but surely better than you would in a western home country.
If you can live happily in Thailand does not depend on the money you can spend in the first place. My adice would be: check it out for a year or two.

She just told me that she ordered a debit card from them and it is being posted. She said they have to be over 12 years old. She still has never set foot in the bank.
Thank you very much. This should be possible for my son.

I know it's possible to open a savings account in a child's name as we opened one for our son when he was 9 years old, but not sure about the ATM card.
If your goal is to give him some spending money and he has a smartphone there's lots of apps to use a digital wallet.
Thankyou for the reply. You're right, you can open a saving account on kids name. I did thatyears ago.
do you know more about digital wallets and where he could pay with that?

Hi,
does anyone her know if it's possible for a 12 year old kid to open a bank account and get an ATM card for it?
I would like to send his pocket money directly from my account and he could use ATM whenever he needed something.
When I'm back in Thailand it's easy. I'll open another account on my name and let him the card for withdrawals.
But until then I'd like to byass his mother.
Thank you for your ideas/advices

Germany has a few millions of doses of different vaccines in stock expiring in december. Sadly no sinovac so not good enough for Thailand.

I miss a real good restaurant offering the southern french/mediterranean kitchen that you find in Languedoc/Roussilion.
But over all Pattaya - in pre covid times - was a good place to enjoy interational kitchen.

Some brown envelops surely will avoid your kids army time.
In all my years in Thailand I never paid a bribe to anyone, but if it comes to the point that my son has to go to the military there I will at all costs.

Thanks. Were you able to get the visa on the same day of application like it used to be in the past?
Yes. No problem. But I needed an appointment. No walk in without, but things can change, you know.

If you want to keep a western like lifstyle 55k is by far not enough. But I know some people living happily even in Bkk with less than that.
Your problem on a small budget might be the compared to Europe faster rising living costs, the dangers of the exchange rates and the in future surely tightened immigration rules for retirees.

I might understand the opening post not correctly.
But IF the rules in Thailand say you can't self isolate but have to quarantaine in a hospital, what's wrong?
If you do not have the funds to pay your medical treatment (or quarantaine), you're in the wrong place. Anyone should know Thailand is not a european welfare state.,

You do not even understand what "peer viewed" means? Has nothing to do with a forum where everybody can write his BS as he likes.
You may believe Ioannidis is "debunked", ok for me. I don't argue with Vaxxiban that are not willing or able to discuss on the bases of facts.
