Many thanks for that useful info. You suggest then that I transfer all my existing  Xcell and Word files to Data D and maybe photos too. How do I ensure that all new  ones I create go to Data  D as well.

You could move the folders "pictures", desktop","documents", "music", "videos" and "downloads" to d: \

You'll find them originally at C:\user\.....\

  2. A power strip is mandatory in Thailand imo. A small one will at least give you the time to shut down your hardware.

Power cuts can damage your hardware. I lost 2 or 3 HDDs years ago.

The power strip also prevents your hardware from overloading but in case of a severe thunderstorm you simple should unplud all electronics.

I must correct myself.  To those who pointed out that travel insurance can be for one of more years, you are indeed right.  It is the individual trips than can only be for 30 or occasionally 60 days. I should have been more precise.

Still no good for anyone who needs to be stamped in for three or  more months such as many retirees.

    Sorry, but wrong again.

There are travel insurances covering long stays up to two years (dependnig on age). For age 76+ up to 6 month.

You miss the point of this thread.  Travel insurance is not available for retirees who live here.

It is available for retirees who kept residency in their country of origin, which I would recommend for everyone as a minimum backup plan.

As to the suggestion of using visa exempt or tourist visa think again.  A couple of those and retirees will not be allowed in.  That has happened before.

How many of the hundreds of thousands in pre covid times were denied entry. There were a handfull reports about problems.

Some I know are here on a shoe string, many of us have brought a lot of money into the country of the years. Now we are being ripped off.

Why should Thailand have to be grateful to those people?

They came here for the cheaper life, the better climate and the girls, not for altruistic reasons

Has Loannidis updated his prediction that COVID-19 would kill 10,000 Americans?

It is this early gaff that he used as the basis for his ‘advice’ and the views he expressed on the response to the Pandemic.

Over 752,000 deaths so far and still counting.

Can you show, where he said that in the WHO published study I linked?

    No? Thank you.

The first thing you need to do when reading these articles is to look at the date.

One is dated "(Submitted: 13 May 2020 " and the other is dated "Published: 17 November 2020

both are almost two years old, a lot of water has gone under the bridge since then.

The article I posted was dated  "Updated: September 28, 2021 "

The Ioannidis study was updated in May or June this year but I can't find that in English. I could provide much more in German, but that is not allowed here.

An older study does not mean automaticly that it is outdated.

can you please send me a link to those studies , It would be interesting to see.

    published by WHO

    published in "Nature"

    ...are two of them.

I know John Ioannidis is a red flag for some people, but he IS still the most quoted scientist of his subject. And despite the defamation campaign against him he never was or is an "anti-vaxxer". The linked study uses only official data provided by different countries.

Hendrik Streek is a well known and respected virologist and director of the Institute of Virology of Bonn Univercity.
