  1. Hi again, for your info:

There's a throttle stop adjustment under the seat which may need tweeking up a bit. You'll find in the bottom of the storage bin underneath a rubber bung. CW to increase revs.

This here solved both of my problems, thank you a lot @Moonlover

I adjusted the mentioned screw a little bit (increased idle) and now the engine works fine at the beginning of a ride.

Also the idle stop is working now since I adjusted it .

Thank you all for your advice

  2. Hi, sorry for late reply, didnt need the motorbike often the last weeks

I went to another repair shop today and they checked it.

idle stop: cable broken, will be replaced

motorbike goes off: they checked it but they couldnt find a problem (of course, because I was riding 5 mins to this shop and after some minutes of riding there's no problem anymore).

As they also did service, I will check if its somehow solved by this (new oil, filter and runs smoother now).

If it still happnes the next days, i will check the idle setting as mentioned above (can i use this Youtube Video as example? I dont understand a word ???? but it seems the tire should run a bit in idle?)

  3. Hi,

I want to go back to my home country and fly back to Thailand around end of September.

My workpermit and extension of stay/re entry is valid until 26 Dec 2021.

How long do I need the coverage of the insurance? Until the mentioned date or for 1 year beginning from the arrival date (if I arrive with one way ticket)?

And: must it be a Thai insurance or can it be any insurance when the 100,000$ covid treatment is mentioned?

I tried to call the consulate in my home country dozen times already but the line is always busy..

  4. Hi,

I bought my Click (2013 model) 2 years back and it was running fine, no issues.

Did the maintenance (exchange filter, etc.) some months back and since then, the scooter most of the times goes off at beginning of a ride if it was standing for, lets say, a day.

Means: start engine -> ride from condo parking to the street (20-30 seconds) and stop -> engine goes off.

After riding for 1-2 minutes, no problem anymore when stopping.

I went to the same motorcycle place and he said it might be an old battery and changed it, but still same problem.

The idle stop also doesn't work anymore since the maintenance.

Anyone has a clue what this could be?

  5. So fyi, I went to DLT Bang Chak (Area 3) yesterday with appointment and all was fine, even though there were signs with "no driver license renewal at the moment"

No video watching, only reaction, depth perception and color test

With me were 3 other foreigners, in and out in <30 mins.

    Documents:

Copy of passport and workpermit (with address), medical certificate, expired DL and passport (each 2x, if you do car and motorbike)

Im sure if you previously booked an appointment it will be ok, the hold on renewals and appointments started 16th April according to the sheet she gave me but they never told anyone that it had changed so people just keep turning up.

I am not sure about it as they suspended all "gathering together" service (watching the video).

Hi there, warning to anyone going to  DLT Chatuchak for Thai license renewal don't bother. I went along this morning they have a full area set up for  foreigners to check all our documents, which they did and were correct but sent every foreigner away and said that we have to contact their call centre 1584 or check their website at DLT.go.th.

Anyway in short got through to the call centre and they have said they are not accepting any foreigners license applications until further notice and according to the announcement we were given at DLT this morning it say you can drive on expired license to that expires between 10th April and 30th June 2021 but the call centre said you can drive on expired license for 1 year. No information on the website.

It was at Chatuchak I assume as its the only one you can just walk in?
I booked appointment (before this recent lockdown happened) for beginning of June at BangChak office, hope i still can do it (2 to 5 yr)

Need to renew car and bike licence (5 year ones I have) at end of this month. I know requirement for medical certificate but do I still need the residency certificate from immigration (500 baht I think they charge) as well. ? Have non immigrant O Retirement visa in passport.

    yes you need it

Correct. It's the 5-5yr licenses they are not doing as that requires sitting with 40 other Farang in a room and viewing a 1 hr 'training' video. Thais can do this on line through DLT apps so it is only Farang 5-5yr licences affected.

What about 2 to 5 year renewal ? for the 2 year (first thai license) i also needed to watch the video but i was the only foreigner and it was with subtitle

After reading this post I went to BangChak today and got an appointment mid June. I didn't question the procedure (yes, the list is for 10 people) and I am bit confused when I now read Swissbie's post.

By mid June the license will be expired for a couple of weeks.

Should I try Chatuchak or is that probably unnecessary?

You can try, as i read in other posts, Chatuchak have 50 foreigners/day.

Maybe if you´re early (7:30h) you can do it right away. Give it a try and let us know? ????

My DL expired 2 weeks ago and i hope it wont be a problem in June (just physical test + video)

BangChak     ,,yes  working on June appointments

there is a  "Service Agent  that will hand walk you thru.  front of the  line

I got in touch with them today ,, have an  appointment  to meet them  Monday @ 7:30 am SaphanKwai BTS

they bring you right to a med office for the  certificate and  front line @ DLT

fee 2 license for 3400  ..or.  do it yourself   and  spend all day  fumbling around

i'll be back home in time for lunch with  2 new  5yr

At my first time (2 yr license) I also thought about an agent to help, but tried it by myself and it wasnt a hassle at all.

Also went out of DLT by noon.

Staff at DLT also helps and shows you where you need to go and what to do.

Sure it might be easier with an agent (and no waiting at the moment), but not sure if its worth the money.

  11. Hi,

You can renew it 90days before or up to 1 year after it expired (you just need to do physical test + watch video). If its expired more than 1 year, you also have to do therotical (and driving?) test. Rule should apply to all DLTs.

I went to Bang Chak DLT last week and as foreigner you need to make appointment. Mine is first week of June -> 2 month waiting) and it seems like they only allow 10 foreigner/day (the list I put my name in was only for 10 ppl).

... sat through a film in Thai on road rules, I paid 205 baht and was given my licence. I was expecting to sit a test on road rules. No such test for me.

no need for this as you have a DL from your home country. Then you just need to do the physical tests and video.

driving + theoretical test is only needed if you do it without any previous DL (or not translated to thai/eng) or if the thai license is expired >12 months

This morning I tried to convert my Australian licence to a Thai licence, but failed the eye test where I needed to align two vertical rods. Any tips on how to pass will be appreciated. I need to return tomorrow to retest.

Aww <deleted>, thats also the only test im a bit nervous about.

When i did it last time i had to do it 2x as the first one was "not same" according to the tester, but the second try was good (just could do it right away a second time).

Let us know if you are good tomorrow (maybe try the shadow trick).

Where do you do your DL, Bkk (Mo Chit, Bang Chak)?

  14. Sorry for capturing this thread, but a question regarding True:

Internet in my new condo is only covered by true, therefore i need to go with them.

I just want internet, no SIM or TV, but it seems their internet packages are quite expensive and i cant find any promotion at the moment (i found this but it seems to be expired https://www.truesuperfiberofficial.com/).

I found some resellers (for example https://www.fiberdealer.com/special-offer 200/200 for 299thb) but im not sure if those resellers are reliable? Better go with true?

Has anyone ever tried Fatboy's Motorbikes in Bangkok? According to their website a foreigner can get a Thai motorbike license in 3-6 hours for 1900 baht. It sounds a bit too easy.

    http://fatboysmotorbikes.com/thai-driving-license-service/

The thing is, it is not listed what you have to do at the DLT. But if you want it easy way, why not.

As @eisfeld said, those requirements you just can walk into the DLT and do the physical test/watch video by yourself.

I did it by myself last year and it was quite easy (within 3-4 hrs). But I needed a translation of my homecountry license + embassy stamp which both also came up to almost 1,500thb.
