  1. Both of them will get some brutal beatings and kicks (maybe they have already received them) before being transferred to the prisons, where they will wake up at 5 AM to clean toilets. After a few months, they will be released, deported, and barred from entering Thailand again. This won't teach them a lesson not to repeat it again, but at least they won't be able to do it in Thailand anymore.

All ways two sides to a story but the NZs guys account will no doubt be ignored . What we do know is that the two NZ guys did not stop when told to and one had no licence but does that warrant a shooting ?

Another BS comment about these two guys who fled their home country to take refuge in a foreign land. They must be treated harshly. All these runaway refugees must be treated harshly. We all know that they will be prosecuted unless they offer a large amount of cash underhandedly. Thai police are very restrained  and polite. I have never seen them raise their voices or try to shoot anyone unless a drug peddler is running away. My friend was even arrested for illegal substance possession and consumption. He said the police were extremely polite and showed great patience.

If having a laptop, always lock your carry-on bag.

I always keep my laptop unlocked in my carry-ons. In the forty years I have been crisscrossing the world, I have never had my laptop stolen. My rented car trunk was rampaged, and the laptop was taken out of the backpack once in a rest area in Portugal while I was eating inside the building. A person told me that he saw earlier that a Spanish guy was going through my trunk, and as he approached, he ran away. It was a close call, but I still wonder today how he knew it was a Spanish guy and not a Portuguese.

On a side note, I noticed a lot of illegal Bangladeshis in the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark are moving to Portugal. I met a few of them, and they told me the pressure from the authority (raids, unexpected document checks, etc.) is less in Portugal compared to other countries they moved from. I also met a crazy Portuguese driver obsessed with Trump and wondered how stupid it is for Americans to vote for a dictator. I applauded him for his extensive knowledge of American politics. 🙂

Instead of doing your withdrawal from ATM, go to Bangkok bank branch and do a “cash advance” at the teller.  I have done this many times and I got the same exchange rate as the ATM and no additional fees.

Not for cash advances using CC but for ATM withdrawals using debit cards. I tried this at three banks, and they asked me to punch my pin, and a charge was levied. Of course, my bank will refund any ATM charges worldwide, but I wanted to check this feature as many members have posted here. It's useless for me to line up for a bank teller; instead, I now use ATMs and CCs exclusively.

  5. What do you expect when Westerners are trying to work illegally in Thailand and many still do. Maybe not in the jobs that Thais do in Dubai, but illegal work is illegal work. I met a guy in Samui who said he would work for free beer in any place that offered him free beer, and he wanted to live in Thailand. I asked him what is so great about Thailand that you wanted to ruin your future working for free beer. He says he likes the relaxed approach to things in Thailand. I told his what you're seeking is illegal work.

in the West you can earn more than here in Thailand.. O the difference is it is here cheaper to live so probably it seems to have more money.. But be fair in the West foreigners earn far more than 35.000 THB for  being a teacher.. But here in Thailand it seems a lot of money

Have you seen the amount of posting in Facebook groups about finding jobs in Thailand and offering to help strangers with their menial work like moving, babysitting, etc.? If not, please go to those groups and find out. And most of these job seekers are from Western countries. When I point this out, I am attacked for not helping people.

In conclusion, I would ask that given this pretty simple solution, could not our Embassy return to assisting us in this matter?

Why do you need income documents when you can transfer your income to Thailand and show it to immigration? I don't know about any other countries, but I knew a few Americans getting bogus income certificates from the embassy for extension purposes.
