    Those were actual approved vaccines.

So are these , thousands of scientist reacting to a dangerous virus means timescales can be well reduced. In normal times possibly a handful of research companies looking at vaccines meaning it takes longer. If you build a wall with a thousand bricklayers it'll take a day , build it with 1 and it'll take a year ... common sense really .

Ahh those damn dinghy guys eh , really a threat to The narrow minded peoples front of the United Kingdom of far right wingers isn't it , similar to those pesky Normans invading or maybe the Vikings , how dare they try to get into the land of milk and honey and steal our women and jobs , fill up our schools , speak those silly foreign languages , steal from our national health services ... Long live the British Empire I say .

For me, much cheaper than a flight Stateside for two "free" jabs.

Its really quite cheap but then again it isn't actually here yet either , October may well turn out to be next year etc etc... Been here long enough to know that until you see the goods it's all just words and empty promises . If you can survive without returning to the States until a miracle occurs good on you .

  4. AstraZeneca’s partner in Thailand has started its first deliveries of Covid-19 vaccines after concerns it was behind on its production schedules for the country and parts of south-east Asia.

Siam Bioscience said the first locally produced AstraZeneca doses were delivered to Thailand’s Ministry of Health ahead of the June 7 start of the country’s official mass vaccination programme.

AstraZeneca signed with Siam Bioscience last year to be its vaccine production and distribution centre in south-east Asia. It said that the vaccines would be ready for export to other south-east Asian countries in July.

The funny thing is, they are vehemently militant about controlling this virus, but many more people die on the roads, and they do absolutely nothing about that. If they wanted to bring deaths down, then their first port of call should be road traffic accidents. But clearly, they are just pandering to a worldwide agenda about this virus, which kills far fewer people than motorcycle accidents in Thailand at least. Therefore, I would suggest that the Thai government doesn't give a rat's ass about the death figures, but just wants to be seen as doing well on the world stage.

The whole thing just stinks to me. There is obviously something else going on here. There is no scientific evidence to show that lockdowns do anything against a virus, yet countries around the world acted in lock-step to introduce them.

I think that most countries around the world were pre-warned and told what to do in the case of a pandemic like this (courtesy of the world economic forum), and lo and behold, when it just conveniently happened shortly afterwards, they did what they were told. Jeff Bezos has made 80 BILLION dollars since covid started.

You need to relax chum with the old global conspiracy nonsense , chill out . I'm guessing you might feel the 1918 virus was all the making of others too , a fifth of the Worlds population died off in that one and they didn't have International travel,  vaccines , ventilators etc etc . Given it's head this virus could well have been a dinosaurs moment for the human race so analogies to road deaths are inane at best . Individuals choose to not wear crash helmets,  get <deleted> , drive too fast etc sad as it is .

Are you sure those are recent photos of Chaweng beach road? I thought all the electricity cables were underground now, since about 6 months ago?

Just back from 5 weeks in Samui and Chaweng beach road is pretty much all closed up including pharmacies and 7-11's. Central open and food court ok . Lamai has a few eateries open but mostly local patrons. Ferries to Koh Phangan still running but really down on numbers . Bars mostly closed as no alcohol sales allowed and who goes out to drink coke etc .. Long road back I would suggest but flight prices cheap now and villa rental prices very good , ideally for domestic escape the cities visiting .

Where is everyone hiding now who rubbished my claims when I said it will take years for tourism to recover, possibly even a decade or more?

    my initial bet was 2030.

2026 is a very optimistic number from the government, which of course is understandable as they do not like to be pessimistic when it comes to money.

I’d say that given this recent announcement, my original 2030 proposal is right on the money.

cheers, thank you and good night!

    Thank you Nostradamus

So why are people so reluctant to disclose information regarding

if they have been at risk of catching the virus? Afraid of being locked up in a hospital for an uncertain period of time? Perhaps they should consider letting asymptomatic cases or patients with mild symptom isolate at home, and leave room for those who are more seriously ill.

You think that a lot of people would adhere to self isolation at home ? A lot would of course however a fair would not particularly if not offered compensation for loss of earnings etc . It's a dilemma for sure but then again so is the lack of testing which means how many are asymptomatic yet roaming freely ?

I'm already getting heavily taxed in my country of employment (and I bet the tax burden will go even higher soon) so it would definitely be a big negative if I were working remotely in Thailand or another country and they decided to tax me too. I think many others would feel similarly and it might end up being partially a game of regulatory arbitrage for prospective remote workers looking at choosing a location.

If Thailand and <home country> worked something out so that the net result in taxes paid

was the same, then sure. But otherwise the benefit to the Thai economy from the injection of 'digital nomad' spending into the economy ought to be enough.

Have you heard of dual tax agreements? These are in place in order for you too only pay tax once . Where you pay tax is largely dependent on where you reside BUT usually you are required to have a local contract ie a contract in the country you're based ... this means a wp and Thai contract if living in Thailand.  It's complicated in the extreme , I know from past experience. If you're earning enough you can dual contract and bank offshore . It's what rich tax avoiders do ( UK politicians , bankers and wealthy businessmen for example) and believe it or not is legal but of course immoral. No one likes paying tax but stuff costs money to operate be it badly run or well run.

I think all UK citizens here should email our Ambassador for Thailand (Brian.Davidson2 @ fcdo.gov.uk)   and express our disgust at this blatant discrimination, after all the UK is offering free test and vaccines to all Thai nationals residing in the UK and that is a fact.

Too busy organising another ball or some other jobs for the boys bash ... pointless organisation with zero influence or indeed any use to expats. It's a case of put up with it or b****r off , simple as that and no amount of petioning will change it. Stay well.
