You can work through companies like Iglu or VSI Group. This is a bit costly. I pay around 200,000 Baht per year for "the privilege". But considering how low taxes can legally be made to be that may still be worth it depending on your situation.

Indeed not true nomad though is it rather feathering nests for visa     " manipulators " . I know it suits some and is an option of course.

The point is if they address this with an accesible visa coupled with dual taxation agreements it would be both fully legal and generate clean revenue too and not just in tax . Probably a bit to ahead for the current regime however but maybe one day eh ?

Thai authorities don't care about digital nomads.  They raided some coworking space up in Chiang Mai a few years back because they thought the people were working for the coworking space.  But once it was cleared up that they were working online, they were all released.  An interview with the head of immigration for CM later said that they don't have any problems with people working online.

As far as I know, there's never been a deportation or charges brought against a digital nomad for illegally working in Thailand.  Would love to be educated if this is not correct.

The whole, working online is illegal thing is something old geezers that can barely peck out a message on their keyboards say on TVF whenever anybody mentions working online.  Then younger people read that and they repeat it until it becomes an urban legend.

The law itself is vague as there is no actual definition of what constitutes work.  But most laws in Thailand are vague so they can be broadly interpreted at the whim of whoever is in charge.  You have to look at how they've been enforced.  And, like I said, I'm unaware of a single person being deported for working illegally as a digital nomad in over 20 years.

Interesting assessment , how about a remote worker earning a salary overseas and paying tax overseas ? On a retirement or marriage visa which specifically states no work permitted ? I'm really making a point that in the changing world of working perhaps an opportunity to re assess visa types and also potentially earn some tax in Thai too .

Being at the whim of whoevers in charge is vague , risky and unprofessional and would detract a potential good source of revenue in spend and taxation .

Taxes can be quite low if you take all available deductions.

Oh. Are you asking about those who work without work permit? Well, they don't pay taxes in Thailand...

You can't work in Thailand without a work permit and i don't think you can get a wp to be a digital nomad ? Another example of the difficult visa system in Thailand .

I wonder if all the provinces are following a standard (CCSA?) format for their regulations?

I keep asking about cycling (and running) and whether a face mask has to be worn?

Is there anyone who has a definite answer to this? If so is there somewhere the relevant section is available in Thai and English?

So far, I have (eventually) only managed to find the Phuket English regulations. I hope the image below is clear.

Why not take self responsibility and wear one anyway ?

My (non-medical) knowledge of pancreatic cancer is that at stage 4, it is usually going to be 'lights out' pretty soon....

But his predicament does raise an interesting question.  He has medical insurance, which covers his medical bills when outside the UK, and his insurance company has been footing the medical costs.  But usually, such 'expat' insurance policies stop providing cover when you return to your home country, and he is now well enough to return to the UK.  If his Thai doctors said that he wasn't well enough to travel back to the UK, then presumably his insurance company would still pay his bills...

I have an expat policy which provides $1 million cover, but only when I'm outside the UK.  If I return to the country that I left 20+ years ago, (or I'm medivaced back to the UK), my insurance cover stops and I join the NHS queue.

Or you join BUPA etc and pay a premium similar to your expat Insurance for private medical IF you can't wait for the free NHS service.

While they may have acted foolishly, did they break a law ????

Where is that law ?? It would be good to see a link which highlights the limits / regulation for Chonburi.

Additionally: Why are some foreigner’s so quick to wish for the deportation of other foreigners???

Regardless of if any law is broken etc it seems supremely idiotic to set something like this up at this time of increasing transmissions of C-19 . Can't all be deniers can they ?

If they enforced all ten of those things strictly, there would hardly be a driver left on the roads here, lol!

It's nowt to do with safety etc and all to do with generating a few baht so they can pay their new car loans , gambling debts and mistresses .. it's been this way for years , 500 baht to the cops or 5000 baht to the judge , no brainer really , they know it and the punters know it , it's why nobody respects the police here.

It's simple ignore the math and whatever is lost in translation

Arrive unvaccinated anytime its 10 days

    Arrive vaccinated its 7days

Arrive vaccinated July 1st it's freedom in Phuket at this stage

It'll be hard to travel without proof of vaccination as it seems most airlines will insist on it before allowing boarding , yet to be decided how you prove vaccination however as all countries differ in approach .

If you have effective contact tracing as Thailand clearly does, testing is not as critical compared to the vast majority of European and American countries where they've lost control and must test to try rein in their infection numbers.

Many on this forum have been saying there was all this Covid in Thailand not being reported. Then the ladies returned from Myanmar, followed by the outbreak in Samut Sakhom, which were both covered in detail and managed through the processes acknowledged by the WHO and John Hopkins Uni as being top notch.

So instead of banging away about lack of testing and drawing spurious conclusions, suggest people focus on why Thailand has done so much better than vast majority of countries. Hint: community discipline, especially with face masks, effective contact tracing, tight quarantine processes, the health volunteers who more than compensate for lack of testing and the climate advantage come to mind. Compare these attributes with most countries.

Don't understand why so many people don't get it. Covid is very well managed in Thailand, as recognised by international bodies, including Europe where Thailand is one of only five countries where people can enter without quarantine (others being Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Rwanda). See table in this link.. https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexledsom/2021/01/17/january-eu-travel-restrictions-by-country-quarantine-and-tests-as-covid-19-third-wave-surges/?sh=5e86ca9e2ff3

Take a read of the article in the Bangkok Post 8 Jan 2021 by Thitinan Pongsidhirak  and then tell me there is not an issue here . Poor planning and the usual border corruption has rendered Thailand incredibly susceptible to a new wave and the planning to obtain vaccines is well behind the ROW as the officialdom cannot lose face by saying it is not in control after all . Thailand is in grave danger of being overwhelmed very quickly now , I hope the border people have spent their ill gotten gains wisely !!
