indeed, it is very obviously limited targetted testing hence the consistent reported numbers, the UK with similar population were testing 1 million daily

I wouldn't be using the UK as an example how to deal with covid mate.

It would be like holding up Thailand as an example for road safety. Which would be insane.

Death rate one of the highest in the world and THE highest island in the world, not to mention that the UK variant that has killed hundreds of thousands of people throughout the globe.

The UK vaccination program (and the US vaccination program) will save hundreds of thousands of lives...it was only possible to execute those vaccinationprograms because of the extent of the testing showing the true picture of the outbreak.

Right now Thailand is essentially at the start of their outbreak while the UK and US are arguably approaching the end of theirs.

Lets assess how the 2 countries (UK and Thailand) have fared 6 months from now both in terms of deaths and economically. I would bet my life that Thailand comes out of it a whole lot worse then the UK or the US and much of that can be blamed on lack of testing and therefore lack of understanding of the extent of the outbreak.

One of us will be right...only time will tell. Let’s see.

I am basing it on real figures.

You are just basing it on your misguided sense of superiority.

125,000 verses 1800 now. Six months you think? Delusional.

The sad thing about your attitude is it sounds like you would actually be pleased if an extra 120,000 Thais died of this UK variant just so you could be "proved right".

Do you mind if I suggest that you are writing deliberately inflammatory nonsense?

You have not even asked about the hours worked and the perks provided.

So you are suggesting that he pays the man 24,000 baht per month and his wife 15,000 and provide them accommodation for what exactly?

If you are talking about a simple day rate and then off they go; then I might be in agreement.

Otherwise it just looks as if you are just trying to bash the OP.

Look pal, I have probably employed more Thais than you have had hot dinners.

If you want good staff and for them to stay you have to pay them well.

I did mention in my post that it has been my experience and experiences differ for everyone.

Apparently Burmese are pretty hard workers. But perhaps more bureaucracy to employ them. Plus obvious language requirements.

EDIT. tonray and I must have posted same suggestion at same time.

My experience with Burmese (over 20) has been average. They don't have the best attitude IMO almost like unionists. The Cambodians have a better attitude IMO.

But the biggest thing is if you pay peanuts you will get monkeys 100% of the time. The reason they have applied for your job is because they are unemployed. They are unemployed mostly because no Thai has employed them. For a reason.

The young Thais are similar to young westerners, little soft girly boys who grew up playing on their phones.

Without a doubt the only Thais i respect work-wise are the hard men who grew up in the fishing industry and on Palm/rubber plantations. They all chew on Kratom all day, all are 45+ and amazingly many don't own a phone at all, so you won't see them on it when supposed to be working.

Hard men, a bit like myself. They demand more pay and they really earn it.

Everyone's experiences are different, but that is mine.

Currently 335,444 people in Phuket have had at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, or 71.89% of the target,

Very well done, they have done everything they could have done since announcing the Sandbox.

Unfortunately after they announced it Thailand was smashed by the UK variant, but Phuket still got on top of it obviously having the advantage of being an island helped with that.

I wish them all the best, it has been a very tough year and a half for hotel owners, tour companies, restaurants and other business people and the tens of thousands of their employees.

    Good luck Phuket.

    We have missed you.

Where exactly did you get your 'First hand' knowledge? A rhetorical question, as you are the font of all knowledge in Thailand!

    Friends in high places.

I know hotel owners in Phuket who were vaccinated last month and all their staff.

Same as in the links I provided you with if you bothered to read them.

Here is one owner who sent me a photo of her getting her second shot on 19th May. She offered to get me done by I declined.

Certainly more reliable than poorly translated statements from Thai politicians in the press.

It's amazing what difference being Asian can make isn't it? if this guy were western they would throw away the key

Nah, I think you will find it is more to do with how much money is being handed over.

The Thai cops take Korean won, US dollars, any currency.

The clever wording you refer to was written by a white guy working at TVF. No conspiracy there.

  9. I was sceptical that it was anything more than a tragic accident.

But yesterday I spoke with an Indian Thai friend in Bangkok who knew them. Naturally I asked him opinion and he really doubted it was an accident saying the wife was strong, a good swimmer and liked to party and was a very good drinker also.

So, I doubt it would be a local who carried it out and thinking sadly if it wasn't an accident, maybe the son had something to do with it.

I have been to Ko Tao many times, it is a party place with a lot of drugs and alcohol. Which can lead to accidents happening especially young tourists who get over excited.

Obviously that blonde birds death wasn't an accident but I feel it wasn't the best idea to take a fella (who wasn't her boyfriend) down to a dark beach for public sexual contact in South East Asia. She was at the wrong place at the wrong time doing the wrong thing.

I will go back and don't think it is anymore dangerous than anywhere else in Thailand. You get a lot of people carrying on about it who have only read the bad news but never actually been there. It is a beautiful place.

it being in your own notifications.

I get a lot of notifications and haven't quite figured out how that works.

When I look at one notification it resets itself after looking at one even if I have 10 notifications.

I honestly didn't see it before but appreciate you sharing that with me. I will help spread the word. Canterbury variant.

Very close to Kent. They weren't far off were they.

Not really. It’s just another one of your sweeping generalizations with no facts, figures or sources to back you up.

unless you do have some. Do you?

    Yes, first hand knowledge actually.

And common knowledge amongst Thai speakers. Maybe you don't speak any Thai?

It has been going on for 6 weeks now.

I am not offended by your post, you weren't to know.

Here you go, it is old news now....

    Good luck mate.

Ok, I see it now, but your previous post to me telling me it was on this page(3) on my screen it isn't. Must be a tech thing.

But that is very interesting and disputes the many members on this forum who trot out the "it was an illegal immigrant who snuck into Kent".

Was the person male or female? And did they recover or sadly pass away? Underlying health issues.

Thanks for the heads up. Handy information to have.

    You take care mate.

is now 12th June, the ball is in your court to prove that more than 50% of people have now had both shots.

With the greatest if respect sir unfortunately you have misunderstood. I was referring to the people in the hospitality industry in Phuket, not the general population.

    They were given priority.

I hope that clears it up for you.

Well you already know I am not too bright.

And I still can't see it on this page as you say, so I am obviously doing something wrong?

    Tech really isn't my thing.

I have a lot I could say about 'her' & many of the other alleged accounts on here.

Anyway, i hope it gets reinstated this year.

From the feedback I have been getting I would be the odds on favorite.
