This move of the EC to prosecute Thanathorn and others of FFP right now is to willingly increase the tensions and, together with provocations caused by organized yellow thugs, to create violence. The reason is simply that the powers-that-be want a decisive battle as soon as possible. They hope to ingnite violence and real riots, to have an excuse for their desired tough crackdown. It's all a well engineered agenda of escalation what happens right now.
I guess that after this coming crackdown, and after a possible coup by the new army leader Narongphan to get to geet rid of the political deadlock, to end the demonstrations and to have a 'reset' on the whole mess, the army will give the power to some civil friends. Likely Anutin then will appointed as the next PM, possibly after a short intermezzo of Narongphan or Apirat as interim-PM.
The civil government later will be appointed in order to appease the people and the international community, and to create a "government of national unity", whose duty only will be to protect the system for another decade, before the whole cycle will start again.
I agree with you, basically. However I feel that things run deeper this time. The young generation and many middle aged people are thoroughly fed up with this farce called politics and government for several past years. While the country is in an economy up-a-blind-alley situation, with human rights violations on top of it. This mass of people will not tolerate anything but real change. They see right through the charade. So a new junta would have to face mass protest. If it ends with bloodshed then the powers that be have lost the plot and game.

The post is slower from Europe no question. After I realized this I only use DHL / EMS. About 3 to 4 days it takes then.

The members of big bike groups or "gangs" are usually seasoned riders, so I would expect less accidents among them. No official figures about the percentage of big bikes as a proportion of motorcycle accidents are offered. Just another official statement not amounting to much.

The baht will surely gain strength as a result. When are we going to see it reach the 27 baht for a dollar level? Tourists would love to visit a country with such strong economy and currency.

The problems of the country are indeed serious. And they hit the poorest part of the population worst.

Congratulations with the truck. Looks good. I stick with Isuzu, however. Being a former ten wheel truck driver, I believe in a company that has their good record in the heavy materials business.

@Neeranam For US teachers it was a little easier because there is a national clearing house that verifies degrees and they could do so in a very short period
What is the name of that institution, and is it a private or federal agency?

If only these people knew how ridiculous they appear with such statements. From day one, their ineptitude for their jobs was clear.

STV and whatever outlandish schemes they can come up with are just a reflection of the amazing Thai arrogance and ignorance of the outside world. They seem to believe that their country is so attractive that people would accept weeks of bureaucracy, maintaining bank balances, queue up for flights and end up in quarantine just to come to a place which has little to offer besides sleazy fun. While there are so many other, easily accessible, more COVID compatible, places to have the healthier kind of FUN.
The government must now accept the consequences of the (good) isolation policy they have chosen early in the crisis, stick to their gun, and manage the inevitable damage, near destruction, to one of the largest sectors of the Thai economy.
True.

Simply open up Thailand to anyone willing to quarantine, there is no intelligent reason for any other restriction.
Intelligence and reason is something sorely needed in this country. A scarcity of both is not uncommon.

Well, the price of pork has risen. Rice too. Perhaps not on fruit and vegetables. I am being told by people in the market. Inflation is a logical result of the political and economic situation. But the baht it seems will remain strong, I am sorry to say. Wish it would drop by 6 to 8 percent. At least. There are people who argue that real estate sellers have dropped the prices of new condos by 50 percent or more because they want to sell now, because getting some of their costs back is better than getting nothing later. Which, it could be argued, equals a devaluation of the baht - in a sense.

Very sad response by the powers that be.

The truth eventually comes out, no matter how much they try to suppress it. Until now, I had believed the news, i.e. this country is mostly Covid free. Buth this news shows a different story.

Horrible that stuff like this goes on in a modern world.

I feel sorry for all the many people who have problems of this sort. It is easy to say, in hindsight, that someone has not been clever. I have made many mistakes in my time but would not blame others as having acted stupidly. Of course he should be able to return. This goes too far IMO.

Recently a man married to a Thai woman was turned back from Suwarnaphum Airport, after that long flight. He could not enter the country, despite having all papers in order according to the rules set up by a particular Thai embassy in Europe. Something had been miscommunicated. His opinion of this whole thing is not very favorable, and the same applies to many others. The article above is good, it can be summarized thus: The powers to be do not have the guts for making a simple decision. They are waiting for something - they do not really know what. Meanwhile, the damage being done to the country is more or less irretrievable.

Local businesses have suffered around 50 percent loss of volume and income. Many just hanging on by the skin of their teeth. What lays ahead worries me and others.

This virus will not be eradicated for a very long time so governments have a stark choice , work with it or just curl up and do nothing except watch ones economy crumble and people starve.
Being careful is sensible , doing nothing is pathetic.
Spot on. Doing something (wrong even at times) is better than doing nothing. One has a feeling the powers that be are transfixed, staring at the problems with hands in their pockets. Their only excuse being the situation is unprecedented for past decades.

This situation cannot go on much longer without massive Thai baht devaluation. If tourism counts for 20 percent of GNP then the devaluation should match that.

Yes. And that message must be carried far and wide because it is true.
