I got the ring of death after only 6 months of owning my 360 (well ventilated,etc..). I'd be lying if I said i didn't like it before it broke, but I will not buy one again. I now own a ps3 now, and I am very happy with it. I think 2008 is looking good for the ps3 too, but if you get lucky and your xbox doesn't fry, then its still a good system.

I have just installed sopcast so that I can watch the Hatton fight tomorrow morning ( I read in another post that this was possible) I have looked through the channels list and their TV guide and see no mention of the fight...anyone else using this? How do I get the True channel with the fight on?

I also want to watch this fight. I've not heard of Sopcast, but I think it's on true pay per view, Channel 67. I think it is free for Gold / platinum subscribers. Can anyone confirm?

Has anyone got this yet for the ps3? It's a great game, but I'm having trouble getting into matches online, it just says "trying to find potential games", or something. I have got into 2 games, but they took about 20 mins of waiting. Maybe if you have friends you can invite or something? My psn is Thaicowman, anyone feel free to add me!

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I couldn't find a direct answer when I searched the forums. Basically my circumstances are, I've been living here about 3 years. I have had a steady job as a teacher at the same school for a bout 2 years (which I have all the credentials for and a work permit, etc..) .

Just wandering if it is at all possible to borrow money or get some form of mortgage from the bank? I have seen a condo I am interested in buying (I'm told that a farang can own a condo outright). And I have worked out I can pay for it outright within 4-5 years, but would need to borrow the capital to begin with. Is this possible??

If you ask if the 360 is more trouble than it's worth you're opening up a whole can of worms, difffering people have different views, mine broke - so I am obviously not impressed, but other people's are fine not, so it's up to you really.

As for which ps3 to get for thailand use, it doesn't really matter as the games are region free, but the dvd blue rays are region specific, so if your watching movies it's worth looking into.

i did. The samr thing happened to me, so like you I deleted it. Anyway, next time i logged in it didn't ask to do the update, so I'm as you were before. Getting more success with my connection now, singapore and north america\usually good. My psn is Thaicowman

Likewise, my 360 overheated and I vowed not to get another, so i bought a ps3. The money isn't an issue anymore cause you can get the 20gb one for 14000(ish) baht. To me the ps3 just seems better put together, ad feels more classy (like owning a ferrari or something). But I think it depends what games you want, fp shooters then go for the 360, i like to play football games, so for me the pad is important,so i am happy with the ps3, but had my 360 not broken after 3 months of moderate playing then i still would have been happy with it. I'm happy to pay for games too, 1500 baht is reasonable to me for a good game. And you dont need to worry about being banned online.

Most crap is on .avi. So, what if you don't want to view your media on .avi format on the PC, how do you convert them to DivX so you can burn them and view them on the TV ?

But there is ConvertXtoDVD - a program that does just what it says on the box! But it is amazing just how big the DVD files are - a 700 Mb .avi turns into a 4 Gb set of files for burning on the DVD.

And it's slow - several hours on my 2 year old PC, but sometimes worth it.

If you just want to watch the files on tv, there's loads of dvd players that will play .avi files, even the cheap ones. I bought one for 1500 baht just to play files i d/load. It has a usb port too so you can save on disc use.

VLC media player basically will play anything I download. You mention - DvDscr.XViD-FINAL or DvDRiP.xVid or TS xVid, but these are just descriptions, eg dvdrip - it's ripped from a dvd. VLC will always play these for me, unless it's a fake, but this is unusual. As said before, it's the file extensions that you want to look at. right click on the file check out it's properties, if it's .avi then it should work fine. If you install vlc player (or something similar) and use it as your default player then the file itself, would become a small icon, meaning the player will recognise it (it's a small cone for vlc). Do you have winrar installed on your computer, cause if so then you will see the winrar icon on the file, meaning it needs to be unpacked. Also, check out the comments section of the torrent itself before d/loading if they are all positive then you know the file is ok.

Do a search for axxo on a site, he always uploads good stuff, and it just comes as a straight .avi, see if a film works just as a test.

With the arrival of the Xbox Elite the PS3 has next to nothing on it. The 'look' of the PS3 is nice and 'space-station-esque, but it is bigger and apparently weighs a lot more than the Xbox does. I've heard it is quieter than the Xbox, but then you're paying almost double the price of an Xbox for what should be mind-blowing performance and graphics.

The games look exactly the same as the Xbox and the controller is reputed to be quite cheap and nasty compared to the Xbox's.

Mine overheated and broke too (within 4 months), as did 2 of my friends', within the 1st year of owning it. Personally, I would never buy another one.

I've read there is a way to play back-ups on PS3 using a Memory stick which has a TIFF file which causes the machine to hang whilst you insert a back-up Blu-ray writable disc

I had an 360 and it broke, so no more for me. I'm a lot happier with the ps3. But if you want copied games then go for the 360, you can even download them free from sites if you have a dual-layer burner. I don't mind paying full price anyway now, as a sood game will last you a long time.

If you like football games, next month pro evolution soccer 7 comes out and in uk - it is going to be amazing. It's multi region for the ps3, so i will get it from uk. You won't be able to play it on an asian xbox though. As this is the game i will end up playing online, and probably the only game I'll play after october, I'm happy I have a ps3 now. I think you need to look at what game you will be playing on it, then go from there.

In answer to th question, how the hel_l did they get it. The iso's been around on torrent sites for the last couple of days. So they would have just downloaded it and burnt it, then given it a box.

Good sites like Meganova have sections that list verified torrents. They also have an easy method for users to report bad files which helps weed them out quicker.

i use mininova, and you just look at the comments section before d/loading, they are usually good for an indication of quality.

Is anyone playing this? What a great game! Most fun I've had online in a long time. i feel like Meverick from top gun.

Only thing is I can't get any stats, I've been playing on ranked servers, like it says you have to, and winning loads of medals, but nothing gets recorded, it's well annoying! Anyone else having similar problems?
