I got it from NADZ project, (www.nadzproject.com) it's a kind of online store, I think. Basically, I got my thai girlfriend to ring. They delivered it to me to for 250 baht, which was great cause I live miles from the centre. It looks like they are sold out now though. But it shouldn't be more than 19,000 around MBK. Another website to check out is gcorners (google it!), i think they are based in china town. Still less than 20k.

I got an asian 60 gb one last weekend in bkk for 18,000 baht with a free game although the game was rubbish (gundam) it was a pretty good price, and not too far off $500 anyway. I think you're better off with asian version if you are living here. Although the games are region free, if you want to play online sometimes there are region issues for some games. The asian games for an asian system are cheaper too, eg ea sports games i noticed were around 1600 baht - asia, compared to 2100 bht europe / us.

The solution is to get the game that matches the region of your PS3. I got an asian version and now everything works.

Any ideas? I really want to get online with it, and this was one of the main resons i got it. I signed up to the p/station network with a uk address, could this be the problem??

Are your PS3 and the game both region 3? Cuz one might be Japanese and one might be for Hong Kong.

Yeah, they are both region 3, i checked. I also tried opening a new ps network ac from singapore, so it would be asian, region and still no luck. I tried a wired connection too, and the same. It doesn't even start the update, just flashes up instantly network error. Could it be something to do with my isp (true) perhaps?

Just wandering, how quick do they get the games into the shops here( e.g. MBK). I'll be getting the new tiger woods golf 08 for ps3, and it was released yesterday in states. Will it be available this soon, does anyone know? Or soes it take them longer to get it here?

You may have to format your HDD to be FAT32 compliant. It it is formatted as NTFS it won't work.

Btw, if the HDD currently has data on it, you want to back it up (elsewhere) if you plan to do the reformatting.

Thanks, I have cleared the data off the HDD onto the D drive, then split the HDD to 31.98GB the max for FAT 32 format, and put the rest of the space as NTFS and still doesn't work. in the book it can support PDD is that different to a HDD?? if it is it won't work and i'll take it bake and get my money back. The PDD can be Sony's "Professional Disk for Data" and that is stopped by Sony already!

If that is a Drive than it's meaning the first Blue-Ray Drive with 23 GB!

PDD in the booklet said portable disk drive but no HDD?? all i wanted was to play DiVX movies on it and attach my HDD to save burning DVD's, but since a DIVX is 1,999baht and i paid 5,500 baht its a waste of money. Will using that money to....................??? thanks for your info mate

I've got a similar player, with a usb port. It won't play files from some things (psp for example) when i plug into usb port. However, I bought a 2gb usb memory stick, and it works really well, saves on disk and they are pretty cheap (about 900 baht). I think this will work for you.

The PSP rocks. Since my Xbox 360 overheated and blew up, its been a godsend, just check out games like syphon filter, ratchet and clank, burnout (which is also fantastic online). I have the latest custom firmare, and i agree with others that it is great as a multi media device. I have a 4g stick and this has everything i need on it, including n64, genesis etc.. emulators.

After sifting through the True website again I found this:

Yes, but I wouldn't take that as a given, as on another forum on this site, (to do with ubc) someone showed an e-mail that they got back from true directly and it said that as no-one comlained in the world cup (but I thought lots of people complained) the commentary would be just in thai, as this was cheaper for them.

There's more on this on the football / general forums. But this is the first i have heard of them not having the english commentary. Is that what they said? Originally they said that it would be available in either thai or english.

EVERYBODY objected to the world cup commentaries in Thai - it ruined the world cup for me (along with England's performances). But how would True / UBC know anyway, as they had nothing to do with the broadcasts?

I am watching closely what they do with Sky sports / espn. It just seems like a massive step backwards in terms of thailands sports coverage, all for the sake of money. Golf, champions league, tennis, formula 1 No more.

Basically if they drop the 2 channels, for me the better option is paying 350 baht a month and just paying to view some games, the movie channels suck anyway.

Mine's asian and it has big problems. It's broken twice in 4 months. I think every region is affected. Anyway, i've just been told that it's fixed and ready to be picked up, but i'm not sure how long it will last. Fingers crossed.

If you want it fixed, I took mine back to Art and Gun game but they may only do it if you bought it there, nit sure really. They had about 6 line dup and some they can fix, some they can't. Also there's a guy in sapahn leck - china town. Should cost about 2k baht.

Trying fifa, it won't connect most of the time, and when it did it was well laggy. Also,only get 1/5 bars lit in the connection indicator.

I used the same net connection and had xbox live going pretty well (before it broke) so would figure the speed is quick enough. Is anyone having success?

I bought mine in december and it broke about 4 months later. Air con room, not on the carpet - it was in a "safe" location. Anyway, it broke about 2 months ago. I took it back to art and gun game, they fixed it after about 3 weeks, then everything worked....for about 3 days, then the 3 red lights of death came back. It's back in for more surgery, but i am not expecting anything now. I will get a ps3 when i have the money. It's just been on the bbc news on ubc, there is a recognised problem about overheating, and from now on they will sort it.

It's annoying to hear people say that it's somehow my fault - rediculous. I've had many consoles before, without problems, they just rushed it's release.

I'm the same, took mine back to mbk, where i bought it from. They said they would fix it for about 1500bht. It's only 4 months old. I've been waiting for 3 weeks. Hopefully be ready soon, but i'm not convinced that it will stay working for long. I won't buy another one cause I know it will fry again. I think when i do get it back i will keep a fan constantly on it full speed.

The problem for me is I can only get TOT because of where i live. So i have to stay with them because otherwise i will have no internet alltogether. It is crap, for sure, but just about worth having even at the slow speeds, as otherwise I'd have nothing. Like you say, I am getting a crap service, but there is no other option. It sucks.

It is modded. i started using that fan attachment, but maybe too late, after damage had been done. The thing is it does boot up and pllay games most of the tome, but they almost always crash - this is very annoying when playing online, it makes a wierd screeching noise too when i turn it on. My friend just got an internal fan put into his (about 300 baht) and it seems to work really well, the discs are just slightly warm when you take them out of the machine. Mine have always been red-hot!

I guess I will take it in and see how much they quote me, I'm not really sure what needs fixing though, as it works and then doesn't work. Which would imply nothing is actually broken?

My beloved Xbox 360 has bust, I think it must be the over-heating problem that has plagued so many of them. Basically it works sometimes, but then games crash all the time whilst playing, (usually making a high pitched sound) - sometimes it won't even work and i get the 3 flashing red lights.

I had only had it for 5 months (my original xbox is still going strong after 5 years!). It's so annoying, it was a great little console before this happened, i was loving it.

Anyway, I got it from MBK, so i rang the shop up and they accepted it was a common problem, and a fault with microsoft and that if i bring it in they would fix it. Then when i asked if this would be free, the guy got a bit shifty and wouldn't confirm anything. If they wont fix it, and they accept its not my fault its broke, then why do a year warranty in the first place - what does it cover? (I still have the sticker on the box to show).

Anyway, i was just wandering if this has happened to anyone else, and what happened. Did you get a replacement or at least the console repaired? Surely they have to do something?!

I'm on TOT also, 1 meg package, not sure about ipstar? I just went away for a couple days, hoping it would be sorted when I came back, but it's just rediculous now, it's not even pulling up a web page outside of thailand.

I rang tot last saturday and they just said there was a problem with the international servers. It's been about 3 weeks now, i just want to know if there is light at the end of he tunnel, if someone could tell me what was going on, ok, i can wait for it to be sorted. But no-one seems to know at tot. I used to be with true and never had this problem (but moved house, and now out of range) it's well annoying.

Also, i think you have to pay 3000 baht if you terminate your contract before a year, but what if it's because of a problem with their service?

Hey, a couple of things aren't correct. Basically microsoft aren't banning anyone with a 360 from live....yet (not like xbox 1). You can still play on xbox live with a modded xbox 360 and with backed up discs without problems, check this out for more details -

Also, improving your internet package won't neccasarily improve your live connection. This is because live is dependant on your upload speed, not your download speed (check it out on the net). I used to have a true connection (2500 dl/ 512 upload), and now I have a TOT connection, as i moved house and that is all i could get. My new speed is (1052dl/512upload). So basically its a lot slower for downloading and stuff, but the live connection has not been affected.

After reading the beginning of this post, I am now sure I have been having problems because of my router which reads NAT - strict on the xbox live connection settings menu, and I will get a new compatible one shortly. I get lag free games sometimes, but it is a bit hit and miss, usually within Thialand it is fine. On winning eleven, you can see the opposing players connection bars so I just play anyone who has 3 full bars - always perfect connection.

Also, i've downloaded loads of updates, and nothings changed, but these are what worry me, in case the next one is going to terminate my live contract.
