Hopefully the countries responsible for the maintenance of the rest of the array take their responsibilities more seriously...... or do they?

You're rewriting the story. It says "visa Amnesty" not tourist amnesty. Amnesty is not only for tourists.

Can you provide a link to the vehicles being auctioned? The above link just describes their business, no links/pages to the auction.

I have Company provided insurance and they have been sending me emails since March that they are there to help me and that they cover all COVID-19 related illness. Hope I don’t need to use it. The insurance company is called NowHealth (Singapore) and the plan is called worldcare I think. From memory I think it cost around 3-4K US but don’t quote me on that
The required insurance is readily available from many companies and not so expensive, depending on age 20-40,000 baht a year.

Thanks a million for your post Theo. Very well written, very thorough and very informative. I appreciate the time you took to do this for us!

Just thought I'd pass my recent experiences on. May answer someone's questions. I'm a long term visa holder and been doing my 90 day reporting for the same residence for 20 years. My last couple attempts online have gone through but came back denied. When then doing in person I found out the reason for denial... I've been in country too long! I actually haven't been out of Thailand in some 5 years and apparently this is a red flag of sorts, at least at the One Stop Shop. BTW, online system has always worked well for me since it began. Just sayin.....

My wife and I have received ours. Although I do everything electronically, including payment of taxes, they still sent a check. Guess it was so I could get my personal message advising the Donald is taking care of me.

Kinda like OJ Simpson in the US of A. Didn't he get away with murder because of his wealth?
He got out of it due to <deleted> poor police work. At least he was arrested and went to trial! Would never happen here.

Since the day this happened it's been blatantly obvious that no one ever had any inclination to seek justice for this officer and family. There were so many opportunities to bring the perpetrator into custody, right up to when he finally left Thailand. Justice does not get served where money rules.....

Please be advised, you can NOT apply for a license more than 3 MONTHS PRIOR to expiration. I went today (October ???? and my birthday is in January. I was not allowed to proceed because the gestapo at the desk checking papers said I was too early before my birthday.
The first time I renewed I went a month early and was told to come back after it expired. I understand you can use your old license for up to 1 year after expiration. All my Thai friends and relatives say the same.

I interpret this as they have not been tested for covid-19. Unless you have knowingly been in contact with a person known to be infected, you won't be tested here no matter how many symptoms you exhibit. Apparently the cost of these tests exceed the value of a human being.

I've seen the prices for the alternative state quarantine, but nothing at all about the price of a repatriation flight. I expect they're free for Thai nationals, but I can't really imagine Santa Prayut and Uncle Anutin being quite so generous to the sweating farangs. Does anyone know the cost?
Cost is flight specific

If you do a google search for the pop up, you'll learn quickly about it from Microsoft. It's legit and the update works cleanly and securely, although it takes several hours.

I just checked my current policy. AETNA bought in Thailand. No exclusions for pandemics, corona virus, new viruses etc. I am fully covered.
No exclusions for NEW viruses in my existing policy either... New policies will probably be another story but, I know for a fact Thai companies are selling insurance specifically for Covid-19.

I find it very interesting that they are insisting on this health certificate, however it is virtually impossible for a healthy person in Thailand to get tested for the virus. So they want what they won't even supply. Only sick people can get tested in Thailand.

Most of them. All thais are not covered by the 30 baht scheme.
Correct, Thais working for a company, paying taxes and have social security are NOT covered by the 30 Baht plan.

They are covered by the 30 baht scheme, as a Thai he had no need of an insurance to pay for this.
Absolutely not true. Basically working Thais are not covered by the 30 Baht scheme. If the are working and have social security they are not covered. None of my Thai employees are covered by the 30 Baht scheme.

Restaurants shouldn’t even be open.
I'm inclined to agree, however, there are many people here in rooms and hotels with no cooking capability and they depend totally on restaurants to eat. Are we going to starve them out?

For people from the developed world it can be frustrating to do everything old style like 30 years ago...and also the immigration officers who can't speak english isn't very professional.
Nevertheless the foreigners have to be polite, dress polite, behave polite...but the same goes for the immigration officers and i've noticed that they don't do that themselves either...like calling people by their first name when there passport is ready...why not call them out loud by their last name including the word mister or misses...just calling the name Peter, Peter while peter has no idea that he's being called isn't professional. And if they call christian names from the passport while the applicant has another first name is frustrating.

She is busy taking care of things, for other customers, and he think he can just open up a show for himself on their cost. As well all of the 3 girls we have been in contact with, spoke decent english as well.
On my behalf, I always bring my gf, or someone else who speak their language fluent, and do not believe it is their job to know, Chinese, English, Russian, French or Swedish.
And a last thing, I never had a problem with any immigration office in Thailand, always been treated good, and they have been polite. Even at arrival in the airports, never a single bad work or any trouble from them at all.
I've got to agree totally with Tagged on this one. We are guests in Thailand. Their country, their rules. Fine for us to B&C about the rules, but at the end of the day it's our duty to comply. The Immigration officers we deal with aren't the ones making the rules, but it is their job and duty to enforce the rules. They are not our enemies and we shouldn't treat them as such.
FWIW, being an American I've always said fellow Americans are my biggest embarrassment overseas.... I'm confident many nationalities feel the same about their compatriots.

Phuket Immigration overwhelmed as foreigners race to extend stay in Thailand

Frankly I blame the foreigners. They have had months to tend to business but elected to wait to the last 5 days. Now taking the opportunity to blame Thai Immigration who graciously extended everyone sight unseen and now blaming Immigration for their own PPPP !
