If closure for 1 or 2 days is going to help tackle the bad air quality, what's going to happen when the schools re-open?
For me, the bigger question is how does closing schools "Tackle" the air pollution problem??

After being here many years, my experience is the farang pays. This will most llkely change with the same group after several outings, but at first expect to be bank...

Can only relate my experience to you. I've renewed my DL several times. Simply went to the DL office (with a Thai in tow to help the paperwork translation), took my number, filled out the paperwork, went from area to area, (video, testing, cashier, etc.) and walked out with my new license about 4 hours after starting the process. Nothing difficult.

What?
Why are the parents of the shooter to blame
So if you committted fraud your parents have to pay back the money?
Ted Bundys mother was respoinsible?
You totally misunderstood that! They meant that mom and dad should be his executioners when he is caught.

I too keep a phone number in the States. I have a Skype number. You can get one in any area code you want. It automatically routes calls to my Skype, and if Skype is off to my mobile phone in Thailand. If I don't answer I get a message on Skype for a missed call complete with caller's number. Unfortunately it doesn't yet accept text messages but not a problem for me. Excellent service and have never had any problem with it. Caller has no idea his call was answered in Thailand. The service, in my opinion is inexpensive, only around $4 a month and forwarded calls are at Skype rates, so also very inexpensive.

I was just at the Embassy yesterday and they have posted that you can now get a new passport 100% by mail. Don't even have to go to the Embassy any more. Check it out on their website! This was new information for me at least...

I'm the same except registering my wife's house. Did the whole online application, got the email confirmation within an hour, and now registration is pending. It's only been 5 working days, and the online reply said can take up to 7 working days.. Hopefully will complete soon.
Just an update, finally received user name and password after 2 months to the day.

I just had to scream SUCCESS!! Did the TM-30 House Registration online on June 20 and have finally received my user name and password on August 20. Then signed in using the app, changed my password as directed and proceeded to register myself being here... YEA!!!!

Just now, RBOP said:Very much appreciated. Did you happen to mention the online TM30 reporting is faulty and some waiting 9 weeks and still no password? I registered more than 2 weeks ago and still waiting too. Showed my email verification receipt that I registered but still got fined last week when extending my stay (at Chaengwattana).
I currently stand at 49 days and still waiting. I want to obey the law but it is difficult.

I don't know if the things have changed but I don't remember being asked for a no-criminal-record when applying for work permit. For permanent residence, yes, and in my country they had no idea what I was asking for initially, but I am confident it was never asked for during WP application. I have shared it (as I had it handy) during last WP application now some 3+ years ago, but was never asked for. Maybe someone else can confirm this?
I wasn't required to furnish one either.

I live in my own condo when in Thailand and yesterday I managed to sign up on the TM30 online on immigrations website (horrible layout by the way and back to the 90`s feeling on that one) with a confirmation message that everything was accepted and that I would receive a confirmation email of some sorts.
That was yesterday and still as of today I haven't received anything.
How long does it take for that first email to be sent out?
And no, nothing in the spam folder and yes, the email was entered correct.
I've just passed the 4 week mark. Have seen some comments here saying it's taking up to six weeks..

Wells Fargo(WF) and Bangkok Bank(BBL) are my banks too. What I've found to be the best transfer method is to send US$ from WF to BBL. BBL's conversion to Baht is much cheaper than letting WF do the conversion!

they continuously try to improve the website ...

I just did it a few months ago. Process was really easy and painless. The instructions on the embassy website are very complete. When I went in they hole punched my old passport and stamped it cancelled. Then gave it back to me. I opted to have the new passport sent EMS to me. Arrived in two weeks. You get the envelope and pre pay postage right there as part of the process. There were a few people who asked for pick up at the embassy. If you tell them you will be traveling outside Thailand during the renewal time they wont stamp cancel on your passport. But then you would have to come in when the new one gets there and then they stamp it cancelled. They also give you a paper to take to immigration to help facilitate the visa transfer to your new passport. Whole process pretty pain free.
I think the by mail way is if you want to do it that way. You can still make an appointment for passport services other than adding pages and go in and do it. The same info was available when I did my stuff.
Ditto for me. I've renewed mine twice here and just as you stated. Although first time was in person at embassy as online wasn't available then.

That was not a law. It states regulation but actually it is a new requirement put out by Chaeng Wattana immigration and only applies there.
Pardon me for believing what I read... " new regulations regarding the Notification of Residence of Foreigners (TM30) that went into immediate effect on March 28, 2019 ". My mistake. My only point in the entire post was that the online systems seem to work for me.

The law on TM30 requirements went into effect in 1979.
Section 38 of the Immigration Act.
It just hasn't been enforced until recently at some IO's.
I have no idea which law you are referring to that became active 28/3/19.
https://www.dejudomlaw.com/asean-today-march-2019/ scroll down to the Thailand Legal Review section. That's where I got it. Downloaded from this site. I've lived here since 1994 and this is the first time I've heard of the TM30.

I've been doing the 90 day online reporting since its inception (a year or two ago?). Only issue has been the system being down (often). Wait a day or two and it works. Very simple and straight forward. I get the approval, print the form and put it in my passport after removing the old one. For me it has been quite simple and straight forward. Just now getting started on the TM30 as I've just found out about it thanks to thaivisa.com. I've done the house registration online and now waiting for the approval, which they say may take up to 7 business days. Following that approval I'll register myself in the house. Since the law just went into effect on March 28, 2019, logically, I should not be subject to the fine as my last entry into Thailand was some three years ago. But I'm confident "Logic" will not prevail. ????

Just send a letter to your embassy. If they get enough complaints from your fellow countrymen, maybe, just maybe the consul will bring it up with a Thai official.
Wishful thinking I know, but baby steps. ????

A TM30 is an Immigration form for a housemaster, owner or possessor of a property to report a foreigner staying there, (Within 24 hours of arrival).
Thanks a bunch... now I know and understand why I didn't know.

I have to ask a dumb question and I'll apologize now because I'm sure it will piss somebody off. The question is simply, What is a TM30? I've been here a very long time and have no idea. Thanks in advance for a brief explanation. BTW, I did look up the website and looked at the forms but still have no idea.

I'm 69 and still working and have a valid work permit. They only thing that happened at 60 was that all the retirement programs paid out in full and I could no longer have or contribute to them.
