A rather bizarre and uneducated reply. Thailand has been moving away from what you refer to as sex tourism for a decade or longer. The entire industry had been in a constant state of decline. And that should bring solace to your thin skinned self. Perhaps 1 or 2% of tourists participated in the trade. And at least that many Thais. Live and let live? Ever considered that?
I do agree 38 million was unsustainable. However, considering that 20% of the $550 billion a year GDP was generated from tourism, Thailand is going to have to get very creative to replace that income, and those jobs.
And what do you suggest they do with the tens of thousands of hotels, that people and companies have invested tens of trillions of baht into?
Jobs the Thai people always find. They are very creative when it comes to making money for living. They can start more production and export businesses, which will both employ and contribute to the GDP.
Regarding the hotels, they can easily be turned into rooms for rent or apartments for sale.
Don´t worry, it´s not your problem. They will find a way. They´ve always done that. -

“The Thai population seems to have made up their mind”
What 57% of a random meaningless poll of 1,300 lol
Yeah brilliant, “nice and calm” ........and skint with tons of job losses and families penniless.
Nothing to do with what Thais want just another selfish im alright jack post, well done.
I am sure they will survive, and find new things to make money on. Might take a while, but they will fix it.

Go and ask the bar girls see what they say, I see one complaining the other day she's not had sex for 10 weeks
So, they should open the country to facilitate for all the bargirls to have sex on a daily basis? Is that what you are saying?
The Thai population seems to have made up their mind. They do not want their country invaded by 40 million tourists per year. Guess that´s gonna be hard to accept for this little online community.
However, I think they are making a fantastic choice. They are finally starting to understand how nice and calm their country can be without sex tourism and drunken low life. I big Thank You to Thailand and it´s citizens are in order.- 2

Minimum price in government hospitals is about 1500 usd, and in better hospitals as well as clinics it can reach 5000 usd.

Yeah, closed borders and from 40 million tourists to zero, might just do that.

I would take a wild guess and say that you are right. What created the reporting and a case is probably that the boy or his family did not pay the requested amount for the marriage to be done.

Seems a little bit strange that 2 persons fall into the river. Wonder what clothes they found? Maybe they wanted to swim.
Anyway, probably just another tragic death of two people.

Yes, I've talked to my family both here and in the UK. They understand my stance.
Ok, good for you then. Let´s just hope Thailand open the borders before you realize your mistake. I wouldn´t hold my breath, though.

In your opinion, which no one values.
Yes, and you are not stuck. You can clear up your martial status in the UK as well as there is treatments in Thailand for your presumed condition.
The only thing is that you probably not have insurance and can´t pay the cost for it.If it´s so bad. Then go home and get your treatment so that you can enjoy life and your family can enjoy the same together with you. Good Luck!

First, I'm effectively stuck in Thailand as, if I leave I can't return for possibly a year, which would be totally unacceptable for me.
Which means that you feel better taking the chance dying and not being able to see your family that way.
So, them that is acceptable for you. Have you asked your family if they feel the same?

So basically you’re calling him irresponsible when you know <deleted> all about his personal circumstances.
No I called one of the choices the responsible one. What choice he is making willo define if the person is responsible or irresponsible.

Relieved indeed but it kind of does not make sense (to me...I am slow, sorry) aren’t you writing about people who are stuck in Thailand, unable to return to their countries ? I, personally am stuck in Thailand but the visa is not the issue, and it is voluntary.
Glad to hear that you are stuck! Have a good day! As you posted it, you are just to slow for me.

Why drive a bus full of people at 60kph on an inner city road in rush hour could be a clue your lacking ????
Probably because that is the speed the traffic is usually moving in. Have you tried to drive a big bus in floating traffic at rush hour? Did you try to drive slower than the other traffic?

Can you see the difference between a 15% rate of domestic violence and "When is the Thai male race going to grow anything we can call a microscopic piece of grey matter?"
Can you see the differens between 5 and 15%?

Was diagnosed with a serious medical condition in February which requires me to return to the UK for treatment. I look at media articles every day and hope I'm still alive when the situation changes.
First you are not stuck in Thailand.
Second, how can you marital status in the UK be unresolvable?
What medical conditions do they not have any treatments for in Thailand? After that you have to ask yourself what is the wiser choice?
- Going home with the need to stay away from your family for a while. Get the treatment and be able to come back and live with them at a later stage?
- Not going home, risk to die, just for staying with them until you die?
To me, there is only one of those options that seems to be the responsible one.

I must admit that I am baffled: I am glad for anyone to be legally able to stay wherever they have set their heart to, but "understanding the problems ....stuck in Thailand" is definitely not a justification for 99% of the "unfortunates". Who has stopped anyone from leaving the country? There have always been commercial flights out of Bangkok. And if you are a regular tourist then you have the mean to stay for a given period before going back home. I find no excuses to the majority of them for staying longer. They are here because they want to, not because they have been forced to. (yes one will always find some cased where that is the case ). Now, they are right to use the system, but Thailand should not prioritise these people.
Oh, so you needed to nit pick on the choice of words. Ok, I will change to people that want to stay but have no possibility to easily change or make a new visa.
Better now? Happy? -

Seems to me you are deliberately ignoring the fact that the people walking outside their property were actually on a private road, which they broke down a security gate to get onto and had no right whatsoever to be there. They were delivering their opinion whilst trespassing on someone else's property; and some were expressing similar opinions not too far away in very violent destructive illegal fashions.
Seems you want to gloss over the illegal activities which contributed to this and only recognize the ones that suit your agenda.
Okay! I do not say that they had the right to be there. However, the McCloskeys had the possibility to call the police. They didn´t, instead they made the choice to illegally threaten people walking outside their property. That´s an illegal act. If you are not an officer of the law, you are not allowed to point a gun at someone that are walking in a street. if it is in a private community or out in the open city is totally irrelevant according to the law in that case. So, the result is that you are the one that choses to look away from the facts and the power of the law. Please do not make another stupid response. Good Night!

I meant that the guy has no backbone.

I'm not so sure about this. A farang marries a younger lady who is keen to have children. The farang has been there and done that, but might want to do the decent thing because the wife wants to start a family. She has needs too.
Of course, things are much more complicated than that. But most Thai ladies are comfortable in being the care-giver and don't necessarily expect the older father to contribute on a day-to-day basis. In most cases, you are the financial provider.
So you need to find ways of finding peace and quiet. It won't get easier as the child gets older. Most Thai ladies love the noise, drama and company of Thai family and friends. We old men, not so much.
I am sure the mother-in-law is a great help to your wife, but she should not live in your home endlessly. Your home is your castle. If you do not feel comfortable and relaxed in your home, then it is a big problem.
I hope you can sort out your living arrangements so that your home is somewhere yu want to be and can relax. Not all the time, noise and drama is inevitable, but for most of the time.
I don't know what I would do if I no longer felt comfortable in my own home. Maybe abandon it all and go somewhere else.
To me you just sounds like another complainer that couldn´t hack it if a problem came up. I might be wrong, but this guy know exactly what he liked and what he wanted in life. Still he did the opposite. That´s plain stupid!

Good Guys! Thank you for understanding the problems for many that have been stuck in Thailand during the Covid-19 pandemic.

No need to doubt. This will eventually make the baht fall, which will create new opportunities to be competitive on the production and export market instead. A Thai baht will always be a Thai baht to the domestic market.
All the hotels can be turned into condos or rooms for rent. Many unemployed will also find their own way as history clearly tells with all from selling food on the streets to making the traditional Thai products made and used once again.
