Air conditioner is dripping water, is that normal?
Tim K replied to Jeff Reinstad's topic in DIY Forum
Or they have messed up this part Not providing enough insulation for the pipes so when hot outside air touches the cold pipe water droplets appear and slowly flow down to the bottom of the AC. -
Air conditioner is dripping water, is that normal?
Tim K replied to Jeff Reinstad's topic in DIY Forum
If the unit is not on the ground there should be special pipe that connects to the condensation outlet and allows droplets to silently flow to the ground. In Thailand almost all ACs have it. In Russia almost none(illegally, owners don't care) and in multi-story buildings it creates hell in June-August, as water drips from 5 - 6 - 8 - 10 -12th floor down to the ground or into your balcony or window sill depending on the wind making loud thumps. I don't see that pipe on your photo. -
Pink ID has been lost too. I think I'll go tomorrow to the nearest amphoe first in Phuket Town, the police station is also nearby where I'll request a report. And if the situation looks favorable as in no need for other people to be involved, then I'll go to Thalang where YB was issued with police report, passport and old copy in hand. For a new YB the owner is a lovely Brit with Thai wife, I'm 90% sure they will help.

Western Union vs Wise. WU now better?
Tim K replied to DFPhuket's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Wise can send in THB but imho for amounts more than 3000$ using Wise's SWIFT option is better, because the fee is fixed at about 30-40$. Have you looked at that? Sending in USD and look at the TT-rate on SCB website. I have accounts at bkb and kasi, both have no incoming fees for swift. -
Certificate of residence from Changwattana
Tim K replied to Finlaco's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, I remember getting one for free at Phuket (moto DL) they demanded 100b and I pointed to a big sign behind me saying "This service is free, don't pay anything" and they said ok. 6months later (car DL) again they asked for 100b and I said there was a sign here remember? (they removed it) and they said ok. May 2024 price was 300b August 2024 price is now 500? why? DL renewal was only 105+205b. COR costs more than both licenses that's why. And ED extension is 5000 vs 1900 in other places, so yeah little bit angry with them. -
Wrote PM to the OP, as there was no follow up in the thread.

Got Yellow book 6 years ago while married, later divorced but wife allowed me to keep the book when asked during the divorce at amphoe. Long story short now I only have a scan of it , which was accepted when buying new motorcycle in 2022. How can I restore it? Does the ex-wife needs to be present? and she is not living there anymore. I know i should file a police report claiming I lost it. But then what? Or can I just apply for a new yellow book with the owner of the house I'm renting now? Showing them I have YB already just please transfer me somehow to the new address? Rental is within same province and I don't really care about the address being correct, just want to have original YB. thanks guys

Used Trip.com (Singapore company) for my Kuala and Phnom Penh visa runs recently, they even have auto-check-in for free. AirAsia even in their own app "Move" charges more! wtf? And you can pay in USD or any currency, I pay in USD or THB with my travel card from Krunghtai or Krungsri. banks take no commission on these travel cards and no conversion as you pay directly in USD | MYR | SGD whatever. NokAir also charges more on their own website than trip.

Certificate of residence from Changwattana
Tim K replied to Finlaco's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Damn! Phuket IO wants 500!! And they can give 2 for car and bike license with the same price. Tried requesting one - 500b Next week tried both - 500b -
You should request 6 - months via BBL app, and make it in Thai language. Hanoi / Kuala wants to see 6 months. Mine had only 3 lines - current balance, +interest in June, -tax from that interest. Copy of main page, IMHO 1-2 events in advance should be enough and no need for previous events maybe just one)

Or a yellow book, they do accept it. Even without the original, just a copy signed by you. -

Maybe in Bangkok? Went to Phangna from Phuket and back, nobody stopped me. -
Submitted at P-P on Wednesday 28 Aug Documents: 1) form note I did not choose any type of visa, cause the form is old and doesn't have DTV option. Purpose of visit left empty too. I thought they would help me to choose the correct option but nobody cared. It is not tourist visa but again no other viable option was there. 2) photo 3) printed e-statement from thai kasikorn bank (6 months), via KPlus app 4) receipt dated 3 Aug from small dental clinic for some dental work, with a note that next dental appointment will be 21 Sep making a mold for dentures and next 21 Oct fitting the freshly made dentures wet stamp and signed by cashier. I do really need the dentures, all was real. 5) Tax slip for clinic license for current year 2567 (printed in color) Except #4 everything else was not signed or stamped These I gave to a man sitting in the booth outside. He does basic pre-check of your docs, staples papers together and gives you queue number. Booth opens at 8-45. Next you go next door to the main office. Wait until 9-00 when they start accepting applications. 6) I was asked to provide a copy of first passport page, which I immediately pulled out of my backpack. Meaning that pre-check is very very basic. 7) 400$, problem was that my 4 x 100$ bills were old (2006 series) and rejected! I was told to go across the street to the BIDC bank and change my old bills to new ones. They did help me at the bank, went back, paid, and got visa slip. That was it! Waited until 4 Sep 15-00, went in, showed my slip, got my passport with a shiny new "feel-like-a-Boss" visa) Thai remark says "passport will expire 18.04.2029" like it does not say this on the main page already, oh well. 5 Sep flew to DMK, somewhat young lady at passport control had a bit of a problem and started to call older man for help ( I assume saw my ED from 2022, then 2 stamps in a row Apr-Jul Jul-Sep and thought I was a trouble maker) and then found my DTV I presume and said aah it's ok now. couple more minutes of head scratching and the older man helped her to get the 6-month stamp with a correct date. DONE, no questions whatsoever. After that I said in thai ( I waited for this type of visa for 7 years, and today finally got it, yay! She gave me a thumbs up and said "your passport will expire before the visa").

Thinking about buying smartphone while in Pp waiting for thai visa. Price is about 400$ and getting 10% VAT refund at the airport on the way back to Thailand would be very nice, but it seems that it is very hard to do in Cambodia, 3 shops said they not understand or are not in duty-free tier of sellers so I would need to present them some tax registration or something. Is it possible for ordinary people to get VAT refund like in Thailand? please advise, thanks.

Get TV while you are in Malaysia, try in Penang. KL can be very strict. After that fly back, and extend the TV getting 90days. Then apply for a school (35k + 5k + 5k + 5k) ED visa, getting you 1 year. I got grilled at HKT for staying just 90days and going to KL for 1 night and back the next day. IOs made me buy ticket to Russia and told me that if I had TV they would be ok. I'll go for DTV of course in 2 weeks, hope that will put an end to my visa problems.

@lapamita The website says: 5 business days, not counting the day of submission. So of course you will have to wait for weekend too. I planned 1(submit) +5 (process) + 2 (weekend) + 1(spare) days. Visa application times Open Monday to Friday, except Embassy holidays. Please see 2024 Embassy holidays at this link (click) 09:00–11:00 AM document submission (no appointment required) 03:00–04:00 PM visa collection Visa processing times (NOT including day of submission)* 5 working days (NOT include the Day of Submission) for all types of visa And yes before (in 2017 at least) the processing time was shorter, only 3 days (they have an example from old times, read below). (for example, if you apply on Monday, you can pick up your passport on Thursday)
