Another idea would be to look at the OA route from your home country, if granted you and the wife would arrive in Thailand with a one year visa...........
-
ummm , sorry but not true ... I was required to provide proof of the income I declared (not a pension but other income ) to the Canadian Embassy to get the letter .... for 2009 as well as 2010 ...
Don't know about USA & Australia though
Notable exception are citizens of US, Canada and Australia where no evidence of income is required for issue of embassy income letter, just sworn declaration of income required.Hmmm why is this still in the rules ? I think it is time to treat every farang the same..
This is not a Thai rule for the letter but your embassey requirement, some embassey's just trust there citizens with the statement "Do You affirm this too be true"

Take a look at Chanthaburi, seems too have all you are looking for.

You can only get a OA visa in your home country, If you get the O visa then you can extend within Thailand based upon retirement with your wife as a dependant
-
Arrived with a OA retirement and the wife "was yes" under 50" multo entry after first year we went on vacation and returned with stamp in date one year more at thai airport then normal each year extension on OA for 1900bt each and 3800 each for multi re-entry her stamp is the same as mine it does not say wife or dependant just the same as mine we have only been here 8 years so I am sure some one will say this is not possible but here we are:::

Is he retired or just a VM vet? It makes a differance on Tricare help or if he is VA disabled......
-
Do it the Thai way, just ask for the property deed for their land or appraised jewery to hold until the loan is repaid. This will stop most folks from even asking.

You can try Shirley at the Market Hotel, she has the service and if busy ask for the number for Tok who is just down the street from the hotel he also has several vec. for hire with drivers........ can not find the phone # at the moment but you should be able to find the hotel # on the net...

Yes three diff. numbers for the same Mr. Lek. Have no idea what the charge is but should not be too much its about a 20min. drive. He will drive you to the border not across. Friends say it is a very easy border hop. I am on a retirement visa (extension) so have not been there......

At& T has cell phones for short term use last time I was there it had diff. plan's from about $20 and up depending on the min. wanted/needed........I'll be back in Or. in about 2weeks and will probably go that route.

More water on his hands than time. What a waste of time question

I am sure too get a lot of bs,,,but,,,A whole lot of you folks need to get a life other than crying about "What If" just live your own life and (visa/extension) worry about yourself....
O-A Multiple Vs. Single Entry
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
A OA which is only available in your home country is granted for a period of one year, at the end of one year fly out/cross the border and return this is all you have too do for a one extension based upon retirement Please be carefull after getting the extension you must get another enter/ex. permit or when you return after any further trips you will only be stamped in for visa on arrival. The OA is very easy to get and if you do not know the system in Thailand will give you the chance to settle in and learn the immg. system.
