I took both passports and the letter to Buriram immigration office 10 - 15 minutes it was done Baht 500.

No charge for transfer of stamps at any office. It's FREE. I did mine at Buriram tuther month. They asked for 500 Baht. I refused to pay and I still got my stamps transferred. Grow some.

  2. You do know don't you that when your old passport expires your extension dies with it and when you transfer stamps into your new they only give it to the date of when your old passport expired? Where as before they used to give you the remaining days left of your extension in your new passport. Now you have to start again. I got caught out recently.

Anyways, we found a guy who was 100% an electrician. He told us in relation to the above problem that the installer from before had incorrectly wired the brown and blue i.e. they were in the wrong slots.

I/we had this problem whereby we were getting shocks off the shower. Could not find an electrician(?) who knew how to correct the fault. Must have tried at least 6. Eventually we went to the local boards depot and asked if they could come and check out the fault. 3 men came and messed about with wires in the consumer unit and came up with this solution. In the consumer unit all the negative wires were connected to the earth/ground. In Thailand the negative supply carries 3 volts or so. They disconnected the negative wire from the earth and the problem stopped never to be seen again.

I've told this story before and been told I'm not correct in what they did, but all I know is what they told me and what I saw.

    I have an RCBO fitted.

No they are not a third of the price of Thailand. I've already told you 10x10 from Fascino are 190 baht

100 capsules 20 mg off of Ebay is just less than 160 Baht. I just bought a box. I assume the '10x10' means 10 capsules of 10 mg for 190 Baht? I can buy 10 X 20mg capsules for 39 Baht in Thailand. Once again, do the sums.

The risk of buying from Sri Lanka is will it ever turn up, will it be damaged, will it be stopped at customs. I won't bother buying them again to save 30 baht

When buying from an Ebay seller you check their star ratings and feedback. You only buy from a seller with a very high rating and good feedback.  The Omeprazol on Ebay are a third of the price they are in Thailand. Now that's good savings if one takes them long term.

Where there is proper reason that he cannot stay at the place as indicated to the competent official, he shall notify the competent official of the change in residence

I see that as being the reason as to why a TM30 has to be raised. You've already notified them of the address you intend to stay at  when you entered Thailand. Why notify them twice within 24 hours??? At no time in the link I published are TM30 or any other forms mentioned. Open to interpretation.

Should that not be "IS STAYING"? Open to interpretation. All in Immigrations favour.

Section 38 : The house – master , the owner or the possessor of the residence , or the hotel manager
where the alien , receiving permission to stay temporary in the Kingdom has stayed , must notify the
competent official of the Immigration Office located in the same area with that hours , dwelling place or
hotel, within 24 hours from the time of arrival of the alien concerned. If there is no Immigration Office
located in that area , the local police official for that area must be notified.

Section 77 : Whoever fails to comply with the provision of Section 38, shall be punished with a fine not
exceeding 2,000 Baht. If said person is a hotel manager, he shall be punished with a fine from 2,000 Baht
    to 10,000 Baht."

I see that as if the alien that has notified an abode when first entering the kingdom doesn't conform to that notification then a TM 30 has to be submitted to the nearest IO conforming the aliens address. Different people different strokes.

  8. Would someone please be so kind as to read this link and see if they can come up with any written penalty related to the TM 30.       http://www.samutprakanimmigration.go.th/downloads/Immigration_Act.pdf

I have looked and can only come up with this.

    Quote

Section 37 : An alien having received a temporary entry permit into the Kingdom must comply with the following : 1. Shall not engage in the occupation or temporary or employment unless authorized by the Director General. or competent official deputized by the Director General . If , in any case , there is a law concerning alien employment provided hereafter , the granting of work privileges must comply with the law concerned. 2. Shall stay at the place as indicated to the competent official. Where there is proper reason that he cannot stay at the place as indicated to the competent official, he shall notify the competent official of the change in residence , within 24 hours from the time of removing to said place. 3. Shall notify the police official of the local police station where such alien resides, within twenty – four hours from the time of arrival. In the case of change in residence in which new residence is not located the same area with the former police stations , such alien must notify the police official of the police station for that area within twenty – four hours from the time of arrival. 4. If the alien travels to any province and will stay there longer than twenty – four hours , such alien must notify the police official of the police station for that area within forty – eight hours from the time of arrival.

As I read it, if you fail to stay at the address given to them on entering the Kingdom you must THEN do a TM30 within 24 hours of arrival at the local immigration office. Basically there is NO need for a TM30. ????

As UbonJoe says every office has different policies, but I think we all know that these policies can change anytime even within the same office and officer, which means you can never be sure when they are going to sting you for money.

Whilst I agree some immigration offices interpret the rules differently but when it comes down to financial penalties then that doesn't apply. Each office has it's immigration rule book. Usually located in the head honchoes office and the fines are clearly defined it that.

Even Embassy web sites tell you there is a minimum fine up to a maximum fine based on days of default. But for some reason failure to report a TM 30 isn't based like that but is open to immigration officers interpretation. I find that to be utter tosh.

It is illegal to overstay your visa as it is a violation of immigration rules. Needless to say, you are also breaking Thai law. Overstaying is sanctioned under Thai immigration procedures. Even if you overstay for just one day, legal actions could be taken up against your person. Usually though when you overstay for one day, it doesn’t carry a fine with it. However, if you overstay for several days, you will be fined 500 baht per day of overstay. So if your stay expired on the 15th of March and you only reported to the immigration by the 20th, your fine will be for 5 days of overstay or 2,500 baht.

I know the above quote isn't anything to do with the TM 30 but the rules of financial penalties must be the same. The way of working out the fine remains the same for all infringements. Based on the daily non compliance up to the maximum written down.

Delivery from sri lanka is long 3-8 weeks. I chose an ebay seller with a shorter delivery than the others, but Fascino is better 10x10 for 190 baht, i can buy in 5 minutes, do the maths

So why in heaven did you say, in post #22, that you ordered from Ebay Sri Lanka because they're cheaper????

I did the maths.  21 capsules times by 39 Baht = 117 Baht for the first 3 weeks period. Capsules thereafter = 100 capsules @ 160 Baht from Sri Lanka. The savings from Sri Lanka are tremendous compared to buying in Thailand if you continue to do so. No calculator was used in this example.  ????

I'm in Pattaya but i found Omeprazole GPO 10x10 from Fascino for 190 baht. Which is cheap as i a couple days before ordered the same from Sri Lanka via ebay for 200 baht.

The ones ordered from Sri Lanka are under 165 Baht for 100 capsules, incl postage. The Thai ones rarely come in at under 10 capsules for 40Baht. Do the sums which is the better value.

  13. It's all down to Buddhism.

    Buddhist Influence

Buddhism practice relates that karma plays a significant part in the decision making process of Thai society including that the taking of a life will remain with them in their future lives, no matter if the act was carried out as a compassionate measure or otherwise. As a result, it can be extremely difficult to find a veterinarian to euthanize a family pet once the decision has been made by the family.

In Buddhism taking a life, any life is prohibited which can make things difficult for many practicing Buddhist pet care professionals. Most refuse to euthanize pets no matter the level of suffering they are experiencing, fearing their ability to prevent the animal from suffering will prevent the animal from extinguishing their karma, leading to a poor rebirth.

A small minority of pet care professionals may consider performing euthanasia with the knowledge that they have to accept the taking on of the negative karma may impact their own rebirth. In consideration of a Vet for example, this may be many hundreds of deaths throughout their entire career. A burden which many are not prepared to carry.

This makes euthanasia a big issue with Buddhist pet caregivers. Some Buddhists just like the Thai Buddhists allow their pet suffer to their last breath no matter how severe the pain is due to teachings which include 'to cut short an animal's suffering prevents them from extinguishing their karma leading to poor rebirth'.

Other Buddhists unable to cope with the pain their beloved pet is enduring, might consider euthanasia with the understanding that they are taking on the negative karma of taking a life.

In Thailand many Vets refuse to engage in the practice of 'death' with many selling the drugs used to euthanize the pet to the pet owners with instructions on how to complete the task themselves.

Some Thai people without the means to pay for expensive medication for their pets will often deliver their pets to a nearby temple with the knowledge their pet will be fed & looked after by the resident monks, until their death has come. This provides comfort to many pet owners knowing their pet will be granted a new & better life in the future.
