  1. No one knows the back story here and I would guess this was a repeatative situation over an extended time. I'm not saying killing was the thing to do. Tragic on all fronts
  2. Luckily there were only 2 bikes involved. If 3 then very difficult to determine what happened ! Good to know that suicide is not suspected
  3. I'm a little lost in you comments. I have no bubble to burst and on one hand you say something positive then reverse it with an opposite comment. I never said everyone should be doing what I do or that I'm in the majority. What I said is that's a scumbag approach having resturant workers spend their shift at work and if no one comes then you don't pay them. As a business owner that's their problem as a cost of doing business. MY point being if you bring a worker to a restaurant and they stay all day and when no customers come you get No pay. Thats full on BS regardless if others so the same. They spent there day their ready to work. If this was a construction job and the staff stood around, and did nothing or it was raining and they couldnt come to the job site then yeah no work no pay. But that's not what was said. I pay and treat my workers with dignity and fairly as everyone should because they are people not animals or property. If they work they get paid, if I can't sell my product that's my problem not theirs. I also agree that many employers will take a profit over treating someone properly especially if they are migrants. So yeah that aproach is a scumbag act and until more people stop abusing workers here they wont progress At this point there no use discussing this any further some people do right and some people do don't under the guise of doing what's others for a better profit so that justifies taking advantage of others. Those action define character and its good to see where others fall on the moral compress of life
  4. I know exactly how Thailand works. I have a family here, farm, employ laborers so I have both a working knowledge of how people are treated, their living conditions and what's right and wrong in the way people are treated here. I also know just because others take advantage of people that have little to no choices, that it's still not appropriate or correct. You can justify it any way you want so you can sleep at night but it's still wrong and you should be ashamed. You wouldnt work for anyone under those conditions or treated like that, but it's OK to treat others that way. No moral compress comes to mind
  5. That's a pathetic approach to employing people and you should be ashamed to not pay workers that come to work. It's your problem to solve if you have no customers not the employee's. Dirt bag move.
  6. Again a small slice of the workforce and has nothing to do with the OP on average salaries. Good for you and the few that are on that gravy train
  7. Then you are in a very small slice of the Industry. Great for you and the few in your company but i don't your farther above the norm for most all working thai's
  8. Welcome to the 20th century. Bidets and washlet's have been around quite a long time and replace the hand held spray or tub filled with water and a bowl typical in the east. More accurate and less mess on the floor from run away sprays
  9. That's certainly not the norm or common salary ranges and mostly due to being a foreign owned company.
  10. You are very disconnected with the reality of their living situatuon and the true hardships thai's face living under these conditions. Bury your head in the sand if it helps you feel good as you appear clueless and\ or lack any empathy and understanding.
  11. I can't believe what you wrote as accurate as rubber farming is labor entensive, not to mention fertilizing, watering, gas for equipment etc compared to the extremely low price of raw rubber brings, it's almost impossible to live on no money for a decade or even a year. Yeah local produce is cheap but that's a small portion of life so unless they live in a shack or they have other income I say not possible. My family has a rubber farm and I know the cost to maintain it and it isn't as you describe.
  12. Haha your response shows how how pathetic the govt money is, if they can even get any which most do not. I have a family here with a farm and employ laborers so I'm more than aware of their plight and stand by what I wrote.
  13. And how much do they get from the govt, next to nothing? I challenge you or others to live on that or the minimum wage most get and then write a post on how well you're doing
  14. Not sure the need to PA ic if you applied on the 12th. It's not an immediate approval upon Submission. It generally takes about 7 to 10 days. You can always fallback on traveling visa exempt and applying here.
  15. Not showing up on tax rolls and wage calculations amounts to exactly nothing in value to the average agro worker or typical Thai trying to survive and live. This is what corruption and nepatism have given to thailand, a substandard of living that's un-escapable while those up the food chain steal the benefits of those at the bottom.
  16. Boy now there's a generous employer.
  17. I'm always amused at how many on here talk like, Bkk, Pattaya, Phuket, the north east and north west are all that exists. But I guess that's just because a large percentage of expats are up there. As for average salaries many of the quotes on here of salaries over 80k baht are few and probably centered around their close friends. Even in Bkk most are below that amount unless your a true business owner which are not the average. 9 to 30k are more typical for the average worker. Agro salaries which is a large portion of the general population is closer to 9 to 15k. 30 to 100k are closer to mid level for the majority. Above that your pressing to upper level, which does not include the extreme upper class or corrupt.
  18. It's been reported ( I believe it was in BP) that there were a couple calls that went to the police.
  19. Hmmmm, This does not sound correct. They have been using e-visas for about a year or more, so for no one there (one of the heaviest trafficked airports) to know about them sounds pretty off.
  20. I would hope these police are not still walking around in public, but I suspect they are. It seems that all the deadly conflicts happen when the bad guys are out on bail and go crazy. Thats part of the loop that need to be closed
  21. It sounds like you used the older on-line system to register for your visa . The E-visa system is completely on line with no visit to Embassy to bring paperwork and pick up the visa. Once complete and approved they email a visa page to carry with you.
  22. As long as we're guess I'll jump in here. The articles seem to imply he was in germany without her, just based on whats written. He leaves the party without saying where he's going or telling anyone but the wife starts looking for him 30 minutes later and "they" go out to find him? Wife goes straight to grocery store and asks to see cctv video, why ask for that video and not just ask store has he been in??? That seems very odd as there was nothing up till then that indicates something bad happened was there? Seems the wife had an idea something was not normal here. Thats the lead I would chase.
  23. Again another senseless and completely avoidable crime\killing committed because no one enforces the laws against a known repeat offender. You could not make these stories up if you were writing an article on how not to enforce the law. Shameful actions that do not change
  24. It should be easy to resolve now as the police narrowed it down to being either personal or business issues that cause the shooting.
  25. He should decide asap and act on it rather than continuing to wait or delay. That's probably why he's on overstay for 3 years, lack of attention to resolving the problem. They just picked up a Russian woman on a 2 year overstay on Samui and one of the statements made was they are cracking down on overstays. I would put virtually no faith in the "volunteer" from imm helping or resolving the issue, if they really do exist.
