  1. When one is issued a Non-O based on retirement from RT Consulate Los Angeles, how long is the enter by date from the Issue date?
  2. Kind of like Hawaii? The most hostile "anti-foreigner" (Mainlander) place I have ever worked or visited. Especially Maui. 40-50 years ago was a remote agricultural island lifestyle. You could write a thesis about the economic distortions caused by tourism and fly-in wealth but I don't think Phuket locals are leaving the island to move to Bangkok because they simply cannot afford to live there anymore.
  3. Food a dog would not eat
  4. Does’t know? More like doesn’t care Trump wishes he can get away with same, and when he is inaugurated Jan 20 2025 he will
  5. “My boy’s good, he’d never hurt a fly” said most any murderers mum
  6. When was that? My parents had some richy-rich friends who bragged about going to Club Med all the way from US to Thailand that would have been very late 70’s or maybe 80-81. I been to Kata once my ol’ buddy there said you’re 20 years late. He said he used to play basketball at Club Med there even though he stayed in some bungalow up the hill.
  7. I’d reckon these have a long record of social offenses/violence or drugs in their Home of NZ and never should have been let in the country based on criminal checks One does not come to Thailand and suddenly attack a cop and take his gun, so you and the bloke can go one on one on the ground
  8. What is their arrest history in New Zealand? Social offenses, violence. Drugss?
  9. Imagine it is 2005. You are working overseas on rotations 4 weeks on 2 weeks off. You can buy a nice condo in Chiang Mai for less than the price of a midsized car in USA. No expat has ever heard of TM-30, or ever said you can not fly into Thailand on your US passport as many times as you want per year visa exempt with no hassles or questions whatsoever.
  10. No I don’t think he shot at tires I have seen a video of a cop kicking a Thai Moto rider over who deigned to pass his checkpoint I think most likely when the cop caught up with the scroungers he was shouting and pulled his weapon, which I have also seen Thai police do to Thais. But in that case they just shut up and dispersed and the incident was over. I’m sure whatever happened the Kiwis overreacted. If I had done same when stopped for jogging at night in US 18 years ago I would not be posting here as I was already dead.
  11. Any manufacturer will tell you their pistols are drop safe, we know from experience no semi-auto is “safe” unless it is sitting on the bench with the slide back, mag removed, and verified clear. Be careful wrestling with cops for their guns. Most likely locked and loaded.
  12. Some of their range have been identified as misfiring frequently It has something to do with the external manual safety tab https://www.thetrace.org/2023/04/sig-sauer-p320-upgrade-safety/
  13. GLOCK line of pistols The “safety” is built in
  14. Utter Tosh. If they were law enforcement officers in Nz They would have simply stopped and dealt with it normally. A non issue. Helmet . IDP. No, attack a cop and take his gun?
  15. Because the sport attracts aggressive types of farangs who like fighting? Some who are convicted offenders in their own country let into Thailand without criminal checks
  16. Like LAX, a friend will pick you up at BKK airport But if he is a real friend you would never ask him to do that
  17. Russians don't go to bars, they drink at restaurants. Same as most Asian countries, such as China and Korea, they don't have the culture of drinking without food, or "shouting rounds".
  18. "To each their own". Another way to say "Up to you"?
  19. I have seen Thai police in CM pulling guns and shouting at Thais for stupid reason But they didn't think they were gonna get shot, then shut up and complied by dispersing from the location I am willing to hear the Kiwi side of the story but obviously they overreacted I have been pulled over in Chiang Mai three times in one day during a high season. Helmet, License, no problem.
  20. This is beyond outrageous. 😡 WHY are so many here firmly on the side of foreign criminals?
  21. I know everything I ever wanted to learn about contact with the local culture as it pertains to customer service. Prefer the "bubble" .
  22. Not necessarily. Not always available but Airline staff discount. Friends and family discount from one who works for Westin. During Covid I got some rooms for under $50 USD
  23. That might be the case but I choose not to book thru third party sites if possible. I prefer to stay in Bonvoy properties. (Le Meridian, Sheraton , Marriott etc. ) With my stays I get early check in late check out breakfast, dinner and drinks lounge and room upgrades. Same room thru Agoda or booking.com is usually the same price, then I get nothing. Never heard of key deposit. Can’t remember last time I seen a “key” And those plastic key cards cost very little. Usually now you can open the guest room door with one’s mobile
  24. Over the past 25 plus years in Thailand it seems things have become more of a hassle for the average law-abiding foreign tourist, retiree, or resident. Maybe I am wrong? You can say she was just running a harm less nursery, but why Why can't foreigners on KPN take care of their own kids during the day? Too busy working illegally? I think these types of foreign criminals are partly to blame for most every hassle I now encounter in Thailand. . Stop mollycoddling and making excuses for the crims.
