Back in my youthful days I had taken a bus from the northern bus terminal up to Authhya to meet up with some Thai people i worked with at the time. On the way back, the air con in the ceiling started grinding and smoking until it got so bad I went up and told the driver to let me out. He then closed the door, full of smoke and continued with his passengers.A trail of smoke behind the bus

Arrived once at a restaurant.  Outside some uncle was spraying at an exhaust vent with a weak garden hose

Thai GF was completely unfazed and wanted to sit down in the smoke filled dining room.  "Don't worry no problem" No way.  10 minutes later the whole roof was ablaze place was closed for months.

They really are an indefatigable people.

the airlines have no choice but return you if they fail to confirm the proper documentation on check in. The financial or fines are secondary to that and a separate issue. They can allow you to sign a waiver prior to boarding but fewer will accept that currently so end result if your denied entry you will sit in detention lock down untll you do return.  Immigration seldom ever checks exit flights at entrance but anything can happen as its not the Thailand of 5 to 10 years ago

It appears you have read my tedious  post. Not sure if you are disputing it in some way as your response is not clear

I would ask anyone who does dispute my submission to please check for example  KE contract of carriage specifically

    •  Article 16 paragraph 2.)  term 2)

All airlines are the same.  Nobody reads the small print but any mistaken idea the airline must give passengers denied entry to any country a free flight back to their point of origin is at best a fundamental misunderstanding.

I just call it "barstool rubbish". The passenger agreed to be financially respsonsible when they agreed to the terms and conditions.

I never had one, but I'm pretty sure airport staff will know something is wrong when they go through the passport

Probably something with English as serious as BLACKLIST  is

I have seen overstay stamps in all Thai, and this one from CM posted

I would not want such a thing in my passport when applying for visas or airport entry to other countries

Why does it need to be reported?  You can simply use your brain.  If the gas was coming from the exhaust, it's very likely that there would be the smell of exhaust fumes, unless the carbon monoxide was somehow being filtered out into the vehicle.  🤷‍♂️

Possibly, but normally  I guess not

A properly tuned fuel injected "petrol" engines emissions should not have much of an exhaust smell.

Nope. Smell exhaust in the cabin get out

I got out once from a van when the driver kept microasleeping at the wheel too

CO is a by product of combustion. Not from incomplete combustion or gasoline fumes

And I never said the victims smelled exhaust BTW

I simply posted that if I smelled exhaust I would ask to get out.

But that would probably more than an annoyance than indication real threat.

CO is bad stuff and definitely odorless itself

Surprised if some cars don't have CO detectors now like required in homes they are cheap

Close friend had a year, he just booked a flight back but then there was the boarding issues. He explained the issue and that this blacklist expired, shortly after he was allowed to board and got a short interview upon arrival only. No other issues.

Blacklisting has nothing to do with no fly list. The fact that someone is not allowed to enter Thailand doesn't ban then from flying.

I understand that but so then how would the airline staff at a foreign airport have any issue boarding the friend of ChaiyaTH  if not flagged in the APIS system somehow?

Last trip to Pattaya it started to annoy me that people would play their YouTube videos on high volume in bars. One guy sitting alone played his videos for over 30 minutes and then when his girl arrived he started to play her the same videos on full volume to show how funny they were.

What's happened to bar etiquette where you plug your earphones in?

Edit: I'm sitting in a bar in Aussie where a guy just started up his youtube, hence this rant, so not just a Pattaya thing....

And if you said anything probably get a punch in the face

They have to make announcements on airplanes in the US because of this now

Everyone is completely entitled and unapologetic

Now, looking for the pic I have  of the guy letting his fake "service dog" poop in the terminal

My guess is that none of the affected passengers were retired commercial airline pilots, so what was the point you were trying to make, are you suggesting that you could smell odourless CO?.

Old piston engine planes smell like a mixture of avgas, oil, and mouldy naugahyde even when properly maintained

It is possible they noticed no exhaust odor.  Before they  began to experience the insidious effects of CO poisoning

    "He was flying alone,
cruising at 5,500 feet on autopilot, with the
sun coming up on a clear, beautiful day. Per
established routine, he switched the fuel
selector to the auxiliary tank and set up the
    navigation system for nearby Topeka.
About 90 minutes later, Dr. Frayser found
himself in a hay field. "

Here's the point, they could smell the exhaust we can be sure of that and they just sat there and put up with it. Its called being very dumb!

The article does not say they smelled anything, which is possible. So a critique of our response could be that this is just a Thai bashing post. If, we assume the passengers smelled exhaust and either lack basic CO toxicity knowledge or are stereotypically passive to a point where they will not protest being poisoned and suffocated.

Self selection bias.  We usually don't hear from the >99% of tourists who sail through immigration with no problems.  We just hear from the guys who had problems, often leaving out salient details of their history.

Next week, I'll be on my 13th exempt entry in a row (monthly, for about a week each trip), after having worked in Thailand for about 7 years.  Then 3 or 4 exempt entries and an in-country extension before Covid put a stop to my travels for a couple of years.  My buttcheeks tighten up on each entry.  But so far, nothing but a smile and a stamp.

Heartening. I don't like the idea of being knocked back but it would not be the end of the world.

Covid was a nightmare for them but heard similar two guys  working out of HKG and SIN who keep their Thai families in Thailand. Don't even bother with "Thai wife" visa. The SIN guy is Asian American I think that might afford some privilege but I think the most important may be they clearly have a professional job spending more time out of Thailand than in,  like yourself.

I have only ever been breathalysed once, in 1967 coming back to camp from Cambridge. Police didn't really know how to use the device so got away with it, bit of a wake up call.

1967. What was the  drink driving level then two pints of Ale?

This is no new thing in Chiang Mai they have the roaming mobile checkpoints for years before covid and from. Long time ago Japanese lady with Thai husband told me she paid 30k what I hear you can't buy your way out of prosecution anymore.

Yeah they refuse you for sure. How are these questions even real, of course you can do that. There is ten thousands of foreigners in Thailand who live here by doing visa runs constantly, that didn't change or something. How you think most live in the south.

This website and forum is just so extremely toxic if it comes to visa's, that it seems to give any member anxiety issues with immigration lol.

I should stop reading social media and AN and just listen to my airline mates who come to Thailand maybe once or twice year they never  heard of any hassles at all.

    • I had a Non O-A and got almost two years out of it using re-entry until  December 2023
    • January 2024 I used Visa exempt CNX airport entry. I spend more time outside than inside Thailand but seeing all my stamps The IO only asked me if I had a visa then how long you stay? I said two weeks. Ended up I stayed 21 days. Is it suspicious strange to start using visa exempts after having a so-called proper visa for years?

I want to come to Thailand for two weeks in from May 1 visa exempt, then fly out again. I will apply to Los Angeles to get a new visa after that

Will probably use CNX again but might need to do BKK.  I will bring money, copy of Yellow book, "onward Ticket" and will request and keep my paper boarding pass

I worked in Makati city in Manila for 2 years, whilst most of the local food is not very good for my palate, the locals seem to enjoy it! There are many good restaurants there, including Thai restaurants.

I think most dogs would eat the local food!

Well this dog here can eat Chicken Adobo. Everything smells kind of funny. I think there is something about the oil they use

I have some chance for MNL layovers comes up one thing that worries me is the food. So I go to Hong Kong or Osaka

    You shouldn't

It should be provided to immigration on arrival

We had this one out before. It is a requirement with no punishment.

If Thailand Imm wants to enforce the requirement that mobile boarding passes are unacceptable they need to instruct Korean, SQ and Scoot to stop issuing them to Thai bound pax and to make cabin announcements that the paper  not be thrown in the trash, which is what I do on purpose to ridicule them.  Never once been asked by immigration

There are still  airports that do not accept mobile boarding passes. It setting in the passenger management system the airlines could probably make easily

Well I had a one-way ticket and no onward flight but kiosk didn't think it was an issue

Correct. There is no need for human interaction when flying from SIN to Thailand on Scoot or SQ over the past few years.

As things seem to be getting worse every day maybe that will change.

You do not even need paper boarding passes  which supposedly are "required" at the inbound immigration counter in Thailand.

    Nonsense

My boarding pass is on my mobile. If a paper boarding pass is ever foisted on me by an agent I throw it away.
