(Most) countries don't think in terms of good and evil. And certainly not the great power countries of the world. They think in terms of national interest and then do what it takes to advance those goals.
As you've correctly said the US throughout history has certainly been no saint. But they've done a great job at controlling the narrative (Hollywood + ubiquitousness of American news outlets worldwide) and have successfully created an American mythos that a lot of people have bought into.
This would be the American governments doing and not it's citizens. If truth be told, the vast majority of American tax payers (including myself) don't support the governments BS around the world. We hate them more than you do!!!

Pure geographical luck.
Is there anything here that anyone really wants other than, uh, well you know... 555

Other than people that absolutely need to get back here be it family or business, who honestly gives a hoot about what Thailand does? This country is of no major importance to anyone other than the afore mentioned. Open/close no-one in the outside world cares!!!

destabilising factor
These people don't know how to use a simple spellchecker? Anyway... The only "destabilizing factor" for Thailand here is not being able to play the US and China against each other the same way they did with Great Britain and France.

Thailand is killing off their tourist industry, and is far from being ready for it.
With such brutal restrictions, mandatory costly testing, and stupid new rules popping up like sunscreen fines and enjoying alcohol, the only tourists that could enjoy themselves are those from Nocturnal Alcoholics Anonymous organizations.
It absolutely fills me the urge to defalcate how these people tell fully vaccinated foreigners what to do and how to do it, and at a very high cost!!! The Thai nationals pose a greater rick of infecting the foreigners and each other with the cheap Chinees knock off vaccine SinoGarbage they use on the general population.
This is nothing but another scam to bleed your hard earned money out of your pockets by the scammers, liars, and thieves that come up with this nonsense. If you are a tourist, don't come here to spend your money as there are MANY other more welcoming places on Earth to see. Always remember one thing, you don't need Thailand, Thailand needs you!
This is in no way is the fault of the "GOOD THAI PEOPLE", period!!!

I use sign language when dealing with Chinese people. Can you guess what that sign is?

This is priceless!!! I hope this gets out to the international news A.S.A.P. What reputable company wants to come here and invest with a labor pool that doesn't have the basic concept of anything, let alone no English skills? I had the opportunity to take holiday in HCMC and was thoroughly impressed by the amount of small children and adults speaking English, asking questions, understanding the answer and capable of carrying on an intelligent conversation. That's simply not the case here in Thailand.
With knowledge comes power, and that's the LAST THING ON EARTH "the powers that be" want. The objective here is to keep the peasants stupid therefore there will be no challenge. Can you imagine if the peasants could think for themselves and didn't "listen and obey"?
Take a good hard look out the window and really "see" what you are looking at. This place is a garbage dump and it's political leadership? We all know the answer to that, don't we? Is it really the fault of the general population of Thailand, the Thai people themselves? NO IT'S NOT!!!

No TNF on NFLN, or the free version of GPi. But it was on TrueVisions. Another close game.
You need to check the TV schedule for games and channels...

Keeping Thailand safe? What a crock!!! The "local criminal element" doesn't want it's "turf" invaded by rival gangs. In this particular case "the blue hair gang" ????

All these deadlines for vaxes being announced, do they have enough vaccines?
I read another article this morning that stated that only 30 some odd % of people have received 2 does of vaccine in Bangkok. People are already working in malls and the general public is also shopping. Typical mind set of these people doing the exact opposite of what should have been done...

Pretty much all you can do for nightlife is hit up 7-Eleven for your adult beverages and pick up one (or two) freelancers along beach road and head back hand in hand back to your room.

I'm confused. I thought all tourists were tested and ALL people entering the province - so how come the migrant workers weren't ? They cannot spread it if they were tested and found on entry. Just possible blame game to me
Perhaps it's the flood of young unvaccinated sex workers "flocking" (I love that word 555) to Puke-et from all over this great nation we live in?

Yes I agree with you 100% Unfortunately, I see the next major conflict taking place in the South China Sea. These are unwelcome advances by a superior military's force that none of these other countries want. I honestly don't know what the Chinese government is thinking considering the global alliance that's willing to stand up to it's aggressions. And after this Covid-19 debacle, there isn't much love around the world for China at the moment and won't be for many years to come.
