The things Trump suggests are what one might expect in a nation that had no tradition of democratic institutions.
Not what you would expect in a nation that has had peaceful transitions of power since the Washington to Adams succession in 1797.
What can a person possibly say about this guy and his followers?
In spite of the fact that it was not politically wise, I think Secretary Clinton's remark about the contents of a basket was accurate.

Asked a Thai 11 year old if people would blame all falangs for the 2 Swissies.
The kid said, "No, those 2 people did those things, only they are to blame".
So definitely not all Thais have been recruited for the anti-farang whatchamacallit.

I talk to 2 taxi drivers every day, going to work and coming home.
In the last few days since the Swiss kicking incident on driver was on a frenzied yak about the Swiss guy.
But he didn't generalize about all farangs.
He was the only one who brought it up, everyone else the usual "hot today chai mai?" or "you like Thai women" or
"you're an American? New York or Los Angeles?"

Good grief nick, that was about twelve years ago for which she formally apologised, and the tweets were deleted.
What's that old adage about elephants?
They are gray and they come in quarts?
oh no, I got it backwards, it's not an adage it's a riddle.
What's gray and comes in quarts?
An elephant.

I have finally badgered this Ricardo Cabeza that owes me money to begin repayment.
Now he is saying he doesn't know how since he doesn't have a Thai bank account.
Can he just go to an SCB branch with cash and my account number and make a deposit/\?

BS always has a kernel of truth.
OP had a beer last night.
There's the kernel.

I would have thought that Business Travellers were also among the travelling "elite"?
Not all.
Some are lower to middle management "errand boys and girls", not sitting in First Class, maybe not even Business Class.
Not necessarily high rollers.

I have tried to get a Charles Schwab account, but they told me they do not issue debit cards to those who live in Thailand. Apparently, many use them here but I was told "NO"!!!
Do you have a US address?
Maybe you could use that and don't ask don't tell that you live in Thailand.
If not, sorry to hear that.

I use a Credit Union in the USA for most of my banking business.
I t seems that banks outside the US and US Credit Unions are mutually a mystery to each other.
I have found that I can't explain one to the other, they are in different worlds.
I have a Charles Schwab Investor Checking account with ATM card that I have used for about 20 years in Thailand.
ATM fees are credited each month, so no fees for ATM use.
Never had any problem with ATM grabbing my card and never had the card refused by any bank.
Once, maybe 15 years ago, had two fraudulent withdrawals in Thailand. Schwab credited right away and it never happened again.
I am pretty sure you can still open an account online from anywhere.
Verifying this will be left as an exercise for the student.

"The study focused on the number of lounges in the passenger terminal, designer brand shops, luxury hotels in the area and the availability of champagne and caviar before boarding."
Very narrow criteria.
Not really a contradiction of the poor ranking previously made public which considered a broader set of factors.
This rating is for the world of travellers unknown to the average AN user.
(I know, not you Mr. Bigshot, but the average AN member).
I mean we have a member that had never heard of caviar?
I have never tasted it, but I have known of its disgusting existence since I was a child.
I'm gonna go Google champagne now.

Why would anyone do that?
Time to relocate🙃🙃
Are you suggesting that the USA be relocated?
Now that's thinking outside the box!

None of that is of interest to me, seems like it's for the mega-rich..
What I want is 7-11 or convenience store for stuff like water, wet wipes, mouth wash, snacks, Tylenol etc; that and a coffee stand and I am set. Suvarnabhumi has those so I am happy.

I think this guy has the record for depravity.
The Swiss guy who beat the lady may keep the record for cruelty however.

Methinks you protest too much.
Lots of these types come out on every Pattaya thread.
Conflicted Puritans mostly I'm guessing.
They hate Pattaya but jump on every Pattaya thread like those gay haters that bring their "God hates gays" signs to every gay event.
"The sexual perversity of Pattaya disgusts me; but let's talk about it a little."

Oh, so you're saying you speak Thai?
Never would have guessed.

Let's hope the Thai woman who hit and run killed a 73 year old Swiss tourist in Pattaya last night gets similar attention.
Obviously hit and run is a crime, but there is no mention that the collision was intentional in any report I have seen.
So not really similar to this insane and intentional attack.

You could not have paired a more taboo set of things in Thailand except maybe adding in a monk instead of a doctor.
Also to get himself a third strike he did it on a Buddhist holiday which was mentioned in a lot of news reports.

SS benefits are not taxable by any other entity than the US govt. Its clearly outlined in the DTA.
Not sure why this is posted in response to my post, I was responding to the OPs original question about how to bank his DD benefits.
How to bank his DD benefits since he was having difficulty opening a Thai bank account was the question of the thread before the fantasy of denouncing citizenship took over.
Nothing at all to do with taxation.

We would communicate in Thai. Even one time when I was misdiagnosed as having a case of severe constipation as opposed to kidney stones, all was well. I went back minutes later and got the proper diagnosis by a different doctor.
I've encountered a very small number of Thais, mostly businessmen and university professors who look down on farang and refuse to speak Thai to them. It's so rare that it's barely worth bringing it up, but these are the people who use language as a weapon. They can't fathom speaking their language to an outsider.
Anyway, I don't wish to sidetrack this discussion by going off topic.
This incident will sadly create more tensions between Thais and foreigners. Just hope he leaves the country soon, so we can finally move on.
Oh, do you speak Thai?

Taxi driver yesterday started ranting in rapid fire Thai "blah blah blah Phuket blah blah blah farang blah blah blah Italy man..."
He kept holding up his cell phone with a video going, but I didn't understand.
I had no idea what he was on about until he mimed a kick then I got it.
I said "Farang mai dii krap" and that was enough, he started laughing.
He finally listened to his video and said "Swiss man, Swiss man, must go".
I agreed and that seemed to make him happy.
He was really offended by the guys actions.

In preparation for Direct Deposit of US Veterans benifits e went to our bank here in khon kaen where we have 4 accts to open a new one for the DD only to find that the bank was no longer accepting new accts from AMERICANS, ** Have you heard of this from other Vets here in Thailand. The bank officer was unsure if this was an all Thai banks policy, said that she heard that there were some banks in Bangkok still taking new accts. Also I assume the DD can't go into a Joint acct for obvious reasons. How much else can go wrong? I have certainly had a year of it.
We'll be checking with other banks but it doesn't seem hopeful,
we didn't aask whenthis ce in effectbut it seemed the officer was quite familiar with the policy
this was at TTB bank
I know this wasn't your question but as a suggestion...
Could you have your benefits deposited in a US bank and just make ATM withdrawals here of the funds you need?
This is what I have done with my SS benefits.
I use a Charles Schwab Investor Checking account and they refund all ATM fees each month.
I have never had a Thai bank ATM refuse my Schwab debit card.
I have an account with Siam Commercial Bank where my employer deposits my salary but I never transfer any funds from the US into that account.
Best of luck in finding a solution that works for you.

Just an aside, but is thug racist?
Doesn't it refer to a long ago (maybe forgotten) sect in India?
Never thought of it as having any racial meaning.
