Anyone knows what happens when your passport expires before your DTV eVisa does? My DTV is valid for the next 4.5 years but I have to renew my passport this year. There is a note on my DTV eVisa showing my passport expiry date and referencing the passport ID, so they definitely checked and are aware it's expiring before the eVisa.
I am assuming that I just need to bring the old passport with me for the next 4 years. Perhaps I can go into Thai immigration after entering the country with my new and old passport the first time, get them to update the passport ID on the eVisa, then print out a new copy so that I don't have to keep bringing the old pasport with me?

Its not cars causing this horrid pollution yes they contribute but the main cause is the idiots burning fields, forests and trash if they could stop those 3 then it would be much much better without draconian and damaging prohibition on private transport.
Credible studies suggest vehicles are responsible for up to 40% of the pollution. During covid the pollution levels dropped significantly due to reduced traffic. When you add in other sources like heavy industry and coal generation, I think field burning is less than half. Burning fields is a SE Asia problem so there is only so much Thailand can do on their own. They can definitely do something about vehicle pollution but seem totally unwilling.

Who has convinced theses poor citizens that common surgical masks will do any good whatsoever in combating 2.5 micrometer particles.
You need a proper gas mask!!
Surgical masks are useless but a good N95 mask that seals around your mouth and nose will filter out most PM2.5.

For a virus and other minor things just go to one of the many clinics around town.
I found most clinics to be a waste of time for minor things. They always prescribe antibiotics and a bunch of other things whether I needed them or not. Go in for a stubbed toe and they will still prescribe antibiotics. Better off self-prescribing. I used to be against that until I went to clinics in Thailand a few times and concluded they were just going to sell me a bunch of meds I don't need every single time.

My only question is what is it going to cost to pay someone to do this for me? I will be getting a number and filing a return because I know I will have income that applies, but I don't want to have to do this myself. Especially in the first couple years when everyone, including the TRD, is still figuring stuff out.

The people with money, who think it´s all about money. This has nothing to do with if he payed or the government payed his hospital bill. i t has nothing to do with money or what he pay or not pay for. It simply has to do with that he managed to stay out of jail, and instead be treated like a king in a VIP hospital room.
Didn't you see him in cast and neck brace for the cameras bro? Considering the excuse was that he had a lung condition, seems TOTALLY legit!

Yes ... very easy but not much capital appreciation and hard to sell
My point is that a lot of people would not buy a house to live in unless they could 100% legit own the land underneath it. I am one of those people. I would not consider any of the loopholes you can do in Thailand or the PI either. Only 100% legit freehold ownership.
-
I read somewhere that foreigners can own land in Malaysia. I don't know if that's true but if it is that would be a huge plus for a lot of people.

Bloody electronic food ordering kiosks.
just went to KFC in Central mall basement and you can now only use those stupid electronic order machines. They've even taken all the menus off the wall and taken the cash register away so you can't order at the counter like McDonalds.
I thought ok time to get over myself and use the machine and it gave me 6 options to pay, none of which I had, i.e. I only had cash (well I didn't see cash as an option if it is there)
Walked out in disgust. I guess that's it for KFC in Pattaya for me. I wonder how much their sales drop in November?
How that is a Pattaya or even a KFC specific problem when fast food restaurants all over the world are moving towards that?

How could anyone that sees Pattaya 2nd Road with 2 lanes of busy traffic say "let's take up half of one lane of traffic by walking 3 abreast, they'll go around us". And that's what happened, car veered into next lane to avoid them, bike following car couldn't see them
They seem to lack situational awareness. Like when they watch loud videos or have loud conversations on speakerphone on a crowded bus or in a restaurant. I don't think it even occurs to them how rude that is.

AQI is around 150 this morning, just like yesterday morning. Another day without a morning walk because it's too unhealthy imo. The combination of poor air quality and heavy traffic is becoming increasingly frustrating.
Lately, I've been considering moving to Bangkok. The air quality is similar, it's a more convenient starting point for travel, and the rapid transit system makes it easier to get around. Bangkok also offers more decent park options for morning walkers, something sorely lacking around Pattaya imo.

I just moved up here, close to Buddha Hill. Bath bus is not too far for me. Nice breeze coming too and not many people or cars. Nice to walk many back streets in shadow. Better than now ruined Jomtien beach.
Nice Russian ladies at pool.
It's quite (over) developed though, and they are still throwing up more buildings anywhere they can. If the area works for you the condo prices are quite good for being that close to the ocean. I would say transportation is a must though. Walking to/from Thappraya to catch a baht bus would get old real fast.

Boots, Central Festival Mall, upstairs shop on 4th floor.
I did go there and they did have a machine they let me use. It was just a home battery-operated one they pulled out of a drawer and no dedicated area for using it. The setup in the hospital with more full blown units complete with arm rest in dedicated areas appears to be a better option imo.

I understand that you said you didn't want to buy one in the op. But seriously, you should reconsider. I bought one of these 8 months ago and I've never changed the batteries yet. It's accurate and convenient and stores readings. It will cost you less than the transportation you pay for to get to the hospital to use the free one.
I do have one, I just didn't bring it with me and don't want to buy another one.

Arm should be level with the heart. That is not usually an issue with the hospital machines but calibration often is.
The hospital ones were much larger and, presumably, higher quality than the battery operated home units. They all had a sling type holder for your arm, to ensure it's in the correct position, and instructions in English saying to keep your palm facing upwards. I tried 3 different machines at two different hospitals, made by two different manufacturers, and all readings were similar, so imo they were accurate.

Every Monday morning under the flyover at the bottom of Thrappaya Road. In the shade there is a team of ladies who do Weight, Height, Blood Pressure & Waist Measurement. It's free. Take your passport. The flyover is the one that goes over to Bali Hai Pier & has Basket/football/skateboard courts under it on the Bali Hai side. The ladies are under there on the otherside of Thrappaya Road opposite the car wash.
I go by there quite often. Will keep an eye our for that.

one can get from 16000 onwards depending on which floor you stay n weather it is sea view or city view. Good negotiations required for long stay agreement.
Nothing around there except for the day market, so I would say having your own transportation is a must at that place. If I was going to stay somewhere that requires transportation it wouldn't be my first choice. I think somewhere on Pratamnak would be better.

go any hospital ask for pressure test don't forget give the nurse 100 baht for lunch
I did sit down at the nurses station at Pattaya Memorial and do a test. I think those machines are there because it's a part of their check in routine for new patients. Since nobody was waiting they didn't seem to mind me sitting down and testing. Only downside was that I felt a bit rushed to do the test, which can affect the results. Instructions at the kiosks say you should sit for at least a minute before doing the test.
I hope you're kidding about the 100baht. No money was expected or given. If I tried to do that I would have probably looked like some dumb farang sex tourist who thinks he needs to pay women for everything in Pattaya. It might have even been a loss of face for them.

The problem for me is white coat syndrome. My systole goes up by 40 mm Hg any time I am near a clinic, doctor or hospital.
I have proved this several times to doctors, by taking my home monitor along with me to consultations.
I have the exact same problem. The doctor said it's pretty common. He suggested I check my blood pressure over several days at public kiosks or at home and average the readings. Since those readings were normal, he doesn't see a reason to be concerned about the higher readings in his office.
Just FYI, I checked my blood pressure at two different hospitals in Pattaya yesterday. It was significantly lower than it has been recently, both at home and in the doctor's office. That was a pleasant surprise! I feel more relaxed here too, so Thailand seems to be good for my blood pressure.👍

I found free-to-use blood pressure machines at Pattaya City and Pattaya Memorial Hospitals.
- Pattaya City Hospital: Two machines are located outside the side entrance.
- Pattaya Memorial Hospital: One machine is available at the Emergency entrance, and two more are near the nurses' station by the main entrance.
I checked on two machines at Pattaya Memorial and one at Pattaya City. The machines appeared to be of good quality, and all readings were consistent, suggesting accurate measurements.
