  1. I don't know what that means. I get a message on my phone every month saying the transfer was made and the amount.
  2. I have a direct deposit SSA account. Bangkok Bank branch on sukhumvit required 5 days for a full letter (500 Baht). I got the abbreviated letter for 100 baht immediately, but Imm would not accept it. She sent me downstairs to the BB branch and they gave me something that was acceptable for 100 baht. Took about 5 minutes.
  3. never. cant get past the smell of pak chee.
  4. The same thing happened to me in December. Just go to the BB branch in the basement of CW. They will give you a letter that is acceptable. At least it was in December.
  5. Been married long enough to know how it works!
  6. A transfer (wire transfer from my Schwab brokerage account) completed OK. Something tells me this is part of the preparation prior to enacting the new tax law.
  7. For the past year or so I have been moving money into Thailand through the New York branch of Bangkok Bank. This morning I noticed that the account that was Bangkok Bank New York has been changed to Evolve Bank and Trust. Does anyone know anything about a change?
  8. I have been living in the Sukhumvit CBD since 1987. I started on Soi 39, then moved to Soi 8, followed by Soi 4, back to Soi 8, then Soi 1 and finally Soi 23. I love the lack of residential zoning laws. (The only one I have ever heard of was a restriction on massage parlors within 200 meters of a primary school). I am well within walking distance of half a dozen supermarkets, BTS, MRT. There are motorbikes on every corner. I can't remember the last time I used a taxi. I can find any kind, style, and price of food. There are more pot stores than 7/11's. There are dozens of foot, body, and other massage parlors. The Central group, the Villa group, and now the Emporium group are building a small city across the road. Everything is air-conditioned. I wear a mask between the buildings. I guess my lungs are as good as my Chiang Mai friends.
  9. I guess Big Dogs is still there. Get there about 8 and watch the parade as the girls come to work. https://www.facebook.com/bigdogsnanaplaza
  10. "There were lots of gullible people fooled by it, and who still are, judging from the number of masks still being worn in Bangkok. " I am consistently astonished by the unwavering attitude of those who oppose the fact that some of us find comfort in wearing masks and acknowledge the tangible protection it offers
  11. Nope. You walk around. I found the one I live in on 23 about 20 years ago. By walking the sois. The available for rent sign was tiny. The reason back then was that there are certain groups the owners will not rent to. I have 100sqm for 25k. very old, but it is true, location location location.
