  1. Carbs, especially from rice, are why most are overweight now. They eat it every meal, in large amounts, and if you have diabetes, you're adding to the problem. Oil won't hurt unless it's in all of your cooking. Sugar, especially table sugar, will hurt you if you eat it all the time.
  2. No, just one who has a good memory and observation skills. People tend to bury themselves over a period of time, showing their true selves. Can't hide what you really are forever. Someone mentioned that he actually knew transam, visited him and his wife at their home, and you need to doubt this why? Personal agenda against him because you don't like what he said in earlier posts? I know a few here who disagree with things I've said, but I will still like and comment on their posts if they are right about something. It's called not holding a grudge.
  3. My response was to another, but the one thing you were wrong about is that your thinking that Thai males are more masculine than western men is way off. Here, they already, with their Buddhist thinking, look at women as inferior. They are without fathers much of the time, which leaves them raised by mothers and or grandmas, who cannot teach their boys how to be men. This leaves many looking at their peers, who also look at women as inferior and or objects to use, and if children are made, a lot of them aren't involved in helping raise those kids to be men. Yes, western men are bigger and stronger on average but this doesn't make a man masculine in itself. How you treat others makes you a man, and this trait has to be passed on by good male role models. men aren't too swift with this everywhere, but here with that women are inferior thinking, that from the beginning lends itself to looking at women as less then them, which isn't true. Here more than anywhere else I've ever noticed or heard about, boys gang up 5 or more against one, armed with weapons, and kick them when they're down. This isn't a muay thai thing but a cowardly act, because these aren't trained fighters but those that are afraid to use their fists one on one, so resort to kicking them after they are down, which isn't masculine in any sense of the word. A man that is masculine treats his women with kindness, love and loyalty, and he treats others the same way, especially his children. He will protect his woman against others and not hit her when he is angry, nor abuse his children to get them to stay in line. He will look at his woman as a partner and not a sex object, looking to her needs before his own. He won't cheat on her for any reason, and treat her through the years with the same respect and love when they started. That is a masculine man, and not a feminine wimp that uses women and needs others to help him fight.
  4. Besides nice beaches, lakes, mountains, state parks, every food variety worldwide, sports, great fishing and hunting, more freedom, beautiful women, and more things in general to do than ever will be here? Yes, there are still things to like.
  5. Lived in the US for 62 years, and never dated a woman who was anywhere near as you describe, which means you probably have never been there. There are millions of slim women in the US. Yes, there are more people that are at least overweight, but that doesn't mean they all are. Women in the US are not all feminists, bitches or slobs. That happens everywhere, including the LOS, where many women are screamers, and I don't mean during sex. One look at the lakorns shows you how many women here act under pressure, and it's hardly feminine. I know soap operas are a little out there but actually they do show how men and women act here, with the exception that there aren't many men heroes that rescue damsels in distress. I knew about these screamers many years before I moved here, and what I see matches what I heard about all that time. Women are the same everywhere, with the same needs and issues. Culture suppresses them in Asian countries, as they are looked at as inferior. Something which creates those bitches who think they deserve more (some do), and that anger shows itself in how they react to stress, and how they raise their children.
  6. As all Irishman, like me, should.
  7. I stuck up for him also. Does this mean I expect a favor also? Maybe I'm tired of people assuming also, when no one really knows anyone here unless they meet them, and then they only know a little about them. I analyze everything because psychology is something I'm into. In your "perception", I'll want something from him. Nah.
  8. This is what I mean by assuming.
  9. What i don't understand is how many people lie and exaggerate here. Why not believe what someone says? Why would they lie about their lifestyle, at ages from 50-85, with most around 67 or more? Some brag about penis size, like silly teenage boys, and how many girls that look like teen students they "bang" a week. A lot just assume they know anyone here, what they know, how smart they are, how strong etc, without ever leaving their homes or bar stools. I never lie and why would I? Who would I be trying to impress here? People I'll never meet, so what's the point? Transam sends pics of his house, and why would he send pictures of another's house? Bragging he has a garden, or just showing others for plain interest and like hobbies? I think the latter. I know a lot here are angry. I myself don't like living here, mostly because I can't do what I liked to do back home, and the fact this is not a good place for girls or women, and I want my daughter to be back home in a more secure, safe place where she will have a better chance of a better future in schooling, jobs and a future husband. I try and help others because I'm into certain subjects and spend a lot of time researching them, so why not pass along the wisdom? Arguing to prove a point to help someone with correct facts is worth it. Arguing for the sake of arguing , or trolling, is immature, and doesn't help anyone. If you don't like someone here, don't respond to their posts, because a pissing contest doesn't work online, and only if you can meet up with someone should you brag about yourself, because otherwise it's just a waste of time.
  10. As far as I've known transam, he speaks the truth, doesn't exaggerate, and only sticks up for himself, like myself, when he's attacked by someone that disagrees with what he's said. Some don't agree with things I say, besides the fact I don't go by opinions and use research and personal experience in a subject before I reply or post. The reason I commented here, is in rebuttal of what you said........"No one, especially myself believe anything that comes out of your keyboard" Gets old when people here assume they know someone or don't understand what they're saying, so have to argue, much like trolling.
  11. Kinda true for many. I help in an English school and most of the teachers he hires are English speakers from other countries, where English is a language they learned in school also. There are quite a few English teachers still working all over Thailand as they are the ones who will actually see some learning from some students. The Thai teachers that teach English? Many of them don't speak English very well and only hand out assignments for the children to copy, including the school where my 7 year old daughter goes. She speaks English better than anyone at the school. When I help, most of the kids, especially the older ones, are busy on their phones and I have to get their attention to get them to do something. Some are serous about learning and these you can tell right off with their excitement. Most of the others couldn't care less. My boss, the school owner, doesn't allow Thai spoken on the grounds and was taught in America himself, and sees how sad most Thai schools are as far as students learning much. They don't leave kids behind here, even if they're failing or rarely show up. Funny anecdote, he told me of a 19 year old half Thai (half American) boy who lived with his dad until dad passed away, that couldn't speak English!! I'm thinking how is this possible living with an English speaking dad? Talking with the teachers he hires, most of them say the same thing. They like the occasional camps that are put on, as much of the day is spent playing games and singing songs in English. They participate, then go back home and rarely speak English because no one around them knows how. The jobs are much, like you say, babysitting.
  12. Of course. Some things on earth are in quantities that only cause humans pain and suffering , much more than they are worth. Ticks, gnats, mosquitoes, black flies, fleas, some snakes, child molesters, land developers, centipedes that pinch, corrupt officials, flies, narcissists, certain ants, box jellyfish, viruses and more. They don't need to be totally eradicated, but lowered to a level that doesn't cause people undue harm.
  13. I usually try and help others am I'm hardly pompous, so I don't know where you get off saying that. I guess you didn't know that phrases are part of grammar? No one else seems to mind the sentence I wrote. If it irks you, deal with it , or don't read what I post.
  14. It is if you're trying to point out others grammar mistakes, don't you think? And if you would take a glance at all of the posts in this subject, you might notice a lot more mistakes in grammar that you didn't bother to point out, so that means you're just targeting me, which is a little prejudiced for what reason I cannot fathom. My username, if you need to know, is from my teen years and never needed a capital. It was just fredwiggy, for reasons only my close friends would understand.
  15. It did back in the states before they started realizing the benefits of Cannabis and that it was a lot less dangerous than they thought and nowhere near as dangerous as alcohol.
  16. Most likely in less than 2 years, maybe sooner.
  17. A lot of people move here because of the girls they can be with that are younger, notwithstanding all that comes along with that. Most foreigners I've talked to here hate the heat. I came from Texas, so I'm used to it, but I had a lot more things to do there that I can't do here. It sure is cheaper here, and that's why some stay, because back home it's a lot more expensive to live, although I'll take that because I can do more there, and my daughter will have a much better life back there. Staying in a bar or your house all day long because of the heat gets old.
  18. Maybe refrain from both while driving, so you and others can make it safely back home?
  19. Why do you bother when you know I'm very literate? And if you don't think so, maybe it's you that's not fully aware of the English language. You have commented on a number of my posts, so you should know, if you have comprehension skills and a memory, that when I write, my grammar is usually right on. Everyone makes some minor grammar mistakes, especially when they are typing and not looking back to proofread, as you have proven to all of us by responding to topics you know little to nothing about. I'll rewrite it so you can go back to your little world..........Driving on anything that changes your effectiveness while driving isn't a smart idea. And by the way, when you start a sentence, you should use a capital letter to begin. And names should be capitalized also. And great little sentence you have there yourself Einstein.
  20. Driving on anything that makes you change your habits isn't good. Even driving after using some cough syrups can be dangerous for some people. Some drugs make you sleepy and of course this is to be avoided.
  21. You're comparing a person who smokes weed, which doesn't make people violent but usually calms them, and lets people let off steam in an ever stressful world, to a person who uses control to force himself on a woman, a person who drives a 2 ton vehicle while drunk and which causes thousands of deaths yearly, and a person who takes the chance to enter another country to raise money for himself or family? That is about the dumbest response to a q posting I've seen yet. Marijuana makes money, for people and the government, and helps people cope
  22. Fighting ants here is a daily occurrence, no matter how clean your house is kept. They can find the tiniest speck of food and home in on it. I keep the ant baits handy and use vinegar when I see a trail. It kills them and cuts off the access trail. I also find them in the coffee pot, which is only used for water, and is less than a meter from the sink, so that is weird. I hear peppermint oil works also if you're not wanting to use traditional insecticides. I'll find a trail in the back next to the house, and use the ant baits. They bring it to the queen, and the mound dies. Then a few days later, I'll find another trail in the front, and repeat. Nothing much you can do but remove them as you find them, and try to keep your house as clean as possible. A mouse can get under a door or in a hole the size of a quarter, so imagine what an ant can do.
  23. Western Union is what I use because Bangkok Bank to my bank in the states charges a lot more.
  24. No matter how many foreigners have come to Thailand, we are still "different" than the local men. Some of course look at foreigners as money, but women are still women, and attraction can still be there, and seeing most country Thai women are a bit shy, the ones that come out and say this to you have already been around foreigners and are attracted to them for this difference. Like any relationship, only time will tell what their motives are.
