  1. I am thinking of carrying a large pile of cash (£10,000 more) to the UK soon. It sounds like passing through Thai and UK customs should not be a problem if the amount is declared in both countries.

I am just a bit worried about depositing the cash into my UK bank account. Does turning up with £10,000 or more look a bit suspicious? Will questions be asked and proof of source of funds needed?

Or can you just feed the money through a cash deposit machine with no questions asked?

Seems like Russian oligarchs can transfer millions with no questions asked, but the little guy gets picked on by bank compliance teams.

onwardticket.com has what you need I think

I have looked into this service offered by several online companies.  It is pretty cheap to get a quick flight or hotel reservation that can be used at checkin or immigration. BUT it appears you only get a flight reservation and not actual  E-ticket. Question is will Thai immigration see through this ruse and demand to see an E-ticket?

    Anybody have experience in this?

    Tappers 6.4 %

    53 Baht from 7/11

Get your facts straight. Tapper beer is 6.5%

Only 51 baht a large can if you buy from Tops, Foodland etc.

The best Thai beer for taste and value in Thailand IMO.

I wonder how long they will be able to maintain the current price?

  4. I was away from my condo for 2 months and came back to find a fair bit of pigeon poo plus 2 pigeon eggs. The mum had built a nest in the round recessesd drain hole.

I have now installed nylon netting suspended from poles that can be easily removed and then replaced when I leave the condo for a few weeks. Pigeons are not a big problem if the condo is inhabited.

More like he's doing something stupid that Thais like.

I remember watching the clip where he bought 50 or maybe 100 old style alarm clocks and set them all to go off about the same time in the morning. He then quietly placed them all round his wifes bed where she was sleeping. It was quite amusing to watch her wake up and try to silence all the clocks. She was a bit peeved but looked cute with it. (I am not Thai)

Well my Settings>Sign-in options page is not the same as the above.

The Windows Hello PIN box only has the Change selection box highlighted. The Remove selection box is not highlighted so cannot be selected.

And below the Security Key icon there is NO Password icon.

Below that there is a 'Require Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts' option which is turned on. Maybe turning this off I can revert to a Password log-in? Not sure and not willing to mess around trying. I have now set up a PIN so that solved my log-in difficulty

I have been using this account for a number of years with a Password sign-in. This change has occurred in the last few months, for me anyway. Reporting this change may help other users who suddenly find they have the same problem logging in.

I think you can remove any log-in/PIN from your account?

I have read posts that show a window where you can tick an option to not use a login/PIN to enter your account. This option is now missing from my account.

Just to repeat, my Microsoft login window only has two options: Enter  PIN number or click the 'forgot your PIN' link. Cannot enter a password (or any alphabet characters} just numbers.

  8. Just to let other not so clued up users like myself know that if you are having trouble logging into your Microsoft account it could simply be the fact that you are trying to log in using a Password instead of a PIN number.

After logging in for years on my PC with my Password, I found I could not enter my Password into the login box.  The letters in my PW would not appear and no error messages explained why not.

Turns out that now you have to use a PIN number specific to your computer to login.

If you have never set up your PIN number in your Microsoft account you can enter your account and do this.  Catch22 is that how can you enter your account to do this if you have no PIN to log in?

I found I could still login using the McAffee True Key option that had mysteriously appeared from somewhere although it was tricky to use and time consuming for this to work.

The other method was to use the 'cannot remember my password/PIN' option on the login page. Go through the verification process to set up a new password. From memory I did this but did not actually set up a new password. Just clicked with blank new password boxes and I was directed to my Microsoft account, keeping my old password. Then go into your account settings and set up a new PIN number. After that logging in was a doddle.

Maybe you can also enter your account using a Password on a different device as I think I read that the PIN is specific to one computer.

Hope the above helps to save hours of wasted time. I still resent the fact that I have to login on my own home computer to use it, but the option to remove this requirement which many people post about seems to have disappeared.

B10 stamp is needed on the return envelope!

I have read somewhere that the stamp should be 10 baht. This is incorrect as the postage for a internal letter used to be 3 baht. I have always included a 3 baht SAE but noticed on the Thai Post website recently that the cost now is 5 baht, so best stick a 5 baht stamp to be sure (although it doesnt seem to matter much as the stamp is rarely stamped and can be reused).

A mate just got an AZ booster this morning in Bang Sue, following two Sinovacs a few months ago.  I just asked him what he got and he has replied saying it'll be on the app in three days.  No certificate received.

I just registered on the Bang Sue website for a AZN booster to my 2 sinovac jabs from PhayaThai Hospital. Made a date for next week. You can make a reservation using your passport number but in my case the Government Database could not locate details of my first 2 jabs so rejected my application. I then tried again using my Thai ID number. This is the ID number starting 600000xxxxxx on my vaccination certificate. This time my registration was accepted. Confirmation sms came in less than 2 hours.

For taste or because it is 6.5%

I discovered Tapper about 3 months ago and it is wonderful stuff. Only 51 baht (supermarket) or 53 baht (convenience store) a large can 6.5pc alcohol. I have had 2 cans every evening ever since.

If you like the taste of a top quality Scotch malt whisky you will love Tapper. Both made from malted barley (some rice as well maybe in Tapper). The closest and tastiest Thai made alternative to dark/ black beer Laos.

Just leave some cans in the stores for me to buy!
