    มีนาคม = March

And as you pointed out, Fixxy IS still available, although for 50 Baht more than before.

Why would you post an ad from March??

I did not stay that Fixxy was not available. In fact I stated that it was available. But not at the price that you suggested.

There are many things that are available, just at a different price.

In fact, some of the previous codes may still work for unlimited 2/4/10 Mbps at 150/200/300 baht respectively.

Add another 50 baht for unlimited calls at 15 minutes per time. But I don't post codes.

  2. Dear Nemises

If one does not need or want internet access outdoors, then why the need for "Free wifi in nearly every coffee shop/ bar/ restaurant/ bank/ barber/ shopping mall etc etc etc"? as quoted by yourself?

Or are those places counted as indoors to you?

The fact is, if you are utilising the free WiFi in any of those places, it indicates that you use data outside of your dwelling and therefore renders your argument moot.

Why would you utilise Free WiFi unless it was about saving money?

I don't ever depend on free WiFi in malls etc. Pathetic scrabbling around asking for access or even looking for free WiFi.

Some of us have friends and family that regularly keep in touch. I'm sure yours, if you have any, love to wait until you get back home or until you hit the coffee shop with the free WiFi.

A bit sad, IMHO, unless you are trying to save money.

Looks like Gomo is not available for foreigners yet.
The AIS flat rate is called Fixxy. Despite the date in the ad, it's still available if you ask at AIS shop. I just signed up for it last month.

    q72it9t8xBCDvjXTmHY-o.jpg

You signed up for it last month.

The date of that ad clearly shows the 300 baht offer expired on the 15th of this month.

So neither are available. Though there should be a Fixxy option for 349 baht available currently; https://retailshops.ais.co.th/RetailShopServices/HTML/mags/467_31072020_วารสารนักขายฉบับที่ 1697-63 ขยายระยะเวลา แพ็กเกจรายเดือน Fixxy 349 บาท มีผลวันที่ 1-31 ส.ค.63.pdf

Of course there are other options, just not those two.

You certainly are missing something- the point of the thread which is to determine if the google authenticator functions are transferred to a new phone with the data transfer. Its a big issue if its all wiped and I cannot get into the apps with the new phone bc I lost all the google authenticator data

I'm confused. Why would one need Google Authenticator on an iPhone?

I have an even older iPhone which functions perfectly, so wondering why I might need this.

There most certainly is the offer there! It just requires getting a new number or possibly not.

"Come out to fight the internet promotion 10 Mbps 200 baht monthly 30 days and free call secret promotion which you can apply continuously throughout the year. But there is a condition that must be opened for a new number only, can that number be used or not You may have to wait to follow up on this website. We will have news to inform you before anyone else".

    There most certainly is not!

I can also write that there is a US$1,000,000 waiting for you. But it is 'pie in the sky' if there are no details as to how and where to obtain it.

It doesn't exist, so the link is a waste of time.

Correct! There are indeed many  of us who do not have any use for a data plan. So many phone zombies out there. Sad really.

Ridiculous to suggest cadging off free WiFi every time.

What's next? Looking out for balloons in order to get free food?

You are no different. You have a mobile phone and use it. The only difference is that you cadge off free WiFi in order to save money. But it's a fools game.

Very easy if you do not use or have any use for a data plan (like many or us who prefer computers to phones).  Inadvertent data use on mobile without a paid plan can be very costly.

    ??

What about those who have both mobile phones and PCs?

Your statement of inadvertent use is somewhat outdated. I have a package attached that cost me 30 baht, which gives me an 'always on' 64 kbps connection. So no chance for 'inadvertent usage' and I can also check my message when on the go. 30 baht one time payment.

    This is a criminal offence.

    Report it to the police.

Stop interacting with her, block her email and phone number and any social media.

Using reasonable force to remove her from your home is entirely within Thai law.

Ignore any communications from her, do not reply.

    This.

    But at your discretion.

Don't accede to her requests. If she bothers you again, you have her breaking in and the video as your Aces.

    Interesting article.

I note it was published on 31/7/20, so quite recent.

It seems like UK residents can secure travel insurance for Thailand, but still, many other countries have their Foreign Office warnings and therefore no travel insurance.

I already have insurance for Thailand and I am here.

Speaking to locals yesterday, some of them were hoping that the country would be open as soon as next month. I had to disabuse them of that notion. Either that are not being informed or they are not following events.

More and more apparently homeless people roaming around these days. Seriously don't know how many of them survive. The one thing that helps is that food is cheap and readily available and water available for a single baht.

But do they know that things are not going to get better for months on end? Government and local government may need to step in.

"Why are people staying in Thailand when then can't meet TI's financial requirements?"

Because they can! See how easy that was? Seriously; why does anyone feel the need to answer otherwise to such a nosey individual?

I think the OP, wisely, stayed out of it. Perhaps one post other than the OP; instead left it to those who could not read nor understand the question.

I have no idea how people can possibly waste money on mobile data anymore nowadays! Gomo offers 50 GB for 299 Baht and AIS has a flat rate of 10 MBit/s for the same amount. I'm sure other providers have the same kind of offers. Time to change your promotion!

Can foreigners sign up with GOMO?

Can you link to the AIS flat rate for 299?

Hi Ive been offline so not picked up the responses. To be honest, its easier nailing custard to the ceiling than trying to explain tech stuff to me! Im worse than useless. My friend is 73 and he knows more than me so thats where we are at. I gave it up as a bad job and decided to catch up on S3 at a later date because S4 isnt due out until next year anyway. I will find a way to view S3 in that interim period

Thanks for all who have contributed I do appreciate your help and advice.
The only subject matter I can add is that we both have USB sticks which we swap as his wifi is fixed where mine is from a myfi device, so his signal is stronger and he downloads for me at his place and passes the stick back to me. He uses Pirate Bay for the loads and the torrent we use is uTorrent. We download onto the laptop then use 'drag n drop' to get it onto the stick but on the S3 occasion it didnt work. I did notice later that in the subject line on PB it said MP4 so maybe it was only compatible with that ?

I asked you to PM me an email address a while back....

But then the computer would not have an operating system...

That takes minutes to install when using an SSD. It's not like Windows 7 wherein you had to spend extra time looking for Drivers. It's a relatively quick install. Not usually more than twenty minutes.

You should get started with the preparations of creating the installation media on an 8 GB or more USB Flash drive.

Get started and just get it done. Don't be afraid. Once you line everything up in preparation, you could be using the new faster laptop within 30 minutes.

The only caveat is the graphics Driver which we may need to install manually. But not a big deal.

Everything else, I am 100% certain that you can do. It's not at all technical or complicated. The only issue is that because you haven't done it before, you imagine it an insurmountable task. But it isn't. Each task in itself is simple.

I will just show you each simple task in sequence. So you won't be left alone guessing what to do and you won't be left without a working laptop.

I am not in a position to be without a laptop of any kind, if I tamper, I may well end up bricking it! I tried to replace a speaker on a mobile phone once and it had to go into the bin.....everything is packed in too tight.

There is nothing you can do to damage it in this case.

Mobile phone is a completely different proposition, as it is not designed to have user replaceable parts, other than perhaps the battery.

Your laptop is designed for the consumer to be able to replace the HDD and RAM.

I can see that you have got yourself into a funk about it. Convincing yourself of the worst.

You cannot break anything and you can choose to be back to your original configuration at any time within minutes.

Don't make a drama out of it. At least give it a go with instruction. If you feel it's too difficult at any point, you can just stop, no harm done.

But at least give it a go. You'll be surprised at how easy the swap. If you do plumbing, this is a doddle.

Have a go at removing the screws of the hatch. You cannot break anything by doing so. Then at least you are halfway there.

The step after that would be to slide the old one out and to slot the new one in. Takes a couple of minutes even for a novice.

    Don't panic. :)

I am mulling over the idea of a new laptop to transfer everything into, then perhaps attempting to do something with the old one after.

Mate I appreciate your help and input here, but I feel this is at or beyond my capabilities.

Stop it. If I thought it was beyond you, I wouldn't have suggested it.

I dealt with many people who wrote exactly the same...and now they are not only upgrading their own devices, but also those of friends and family. Because it's easy.

It's daunting only because your imagination is scarier than the reality.

Once you are shown how it's done, you'll have a lot more confidence in your own ability. Your laptop is relatively easy because of it's dedicated hatch. You'll be in and out in under ten minutes. It's almost as easy as putting in the last piece in a jigsaw puzzle.

Forget about transferring everything. You can do that later. Since you will be installing the OS on to a completely new drive, all of your old data on the old HDD will be untouched.

Don't make excuses and continue procrastinating. Just do it. You'll be glad that you did.

Order the SSD and let's get started.

  16. If your Broadband is separate to your phone line, you can continue to pay your phone bill. If you refuse to pay for either, you cannot expect BT to keep the number for you.

If you tell them you are moving, you might get a couple of months grace period.

I renegotiated my Broadband/Phone bill with them from £40 per month to less than £20 per month. Same Fibre connection and phone line as before.

Cannot imagine that they will leave the number free for you if you don't pay for it.
