My DTAC program was just renewed and it is still pushing the slow throttle in my face. There seems to be a hard F Us push to aggravate us trying to make or force us to upgrade paying more money. Shame on them and their tactics. I am almost full of their BS now and I have been with them for over 16 years.

I have to tell you that the problem seems to be with you and not DTAC. Even when you are given the solution you just ignore it.

All you need to do is to select a 'no slow down' bundle and your problem is solved.

If, for instance, you can attain 10 Mbps or more on your current package and don't want to change your number, then you can change to a non stop 10 Mbps pack. 1926 baht for 90 days. 642 baht per month.

If you don't need as much as 10 Mbps, you can subscribe to a 4 Mbps pack; 1284 baht per 90 days. 428 baht per month.

Then no more throttling and complaints about throttling. ????

So once again, to what package are you currently subscribed?

That package cost 650 baht/month at the moment if paying to AIS. To get a much lower price, ~200 baht/month, you must buy a 4Mb/s sim-card at for example Lazada or Shopee and then renew the subscription every month. 10 Mb/s unlimited net cost from ~325 baht/month. 4Mb/s 30GB cost ~155 baht/month.

Please don't post misleading information. There is no need to buy anything from Lazada if just looking at a monthly subscription.

You can just obtain a SIM from any stockist and add the package yourself, using a USSD code.

unlimited 10 Mbps from 300 baht currently. Unlimited 4 Mbps 200 baht. Unlimited 2 Mbps 150 baht.

If you are looking at annual SIM, then Lazada et al are useful.

It's no more than what happens every low season. Strange how this time it's "different". The unemployed bargirls used to go home to the village, so what's different now?

You are right about FARANGS not coming back anytime soon, but I fully expect the Chinese to be back in the not so distant future, not that they spend much if any money on bars and suchlike.

Hmmmm... I used to think that you were a seasoned and knowledgeable traveller. But some of your comments of late....

I think leaving Thailand may have really affected you.

    45k/mn instead of 135k/mn

Also had options for places that were 80k a month that dropped to 10k.  Brand new condos.  villas that were over 120k HUGE, at around 40k offered.

Are there beachfront villas here? I usually stay beachfront. But there isn't really much beachfront in Central Pattaya.

Unless you count living across the road from the beach as beachfront.

Unless I can hear the sea and feel the sea breeze, it isn't beachfront, but sea view.

The only beachfront in Central Pattaya is at either end. From Dusit going north and from Walking Street going south.

That being said, I have stayed in large low rise apartments(150 to 200 sq.m.) on the beach road. High rise is nonsense, as it's just a sea view, not beachfront.

Changed over to True Move about 12 months ago cause i'm living in a black spot, contacted Dtac about my extreme low or sometimes non existant data speeds, they advised me is was a black spot and they couldn't tell me if they were going to do anything about it.I googled the coverage area for the 3 providers and True Move had a far superior coverage area, with AIS coming 2nd and Dtac terrible coverage compared to True Move.Hope this helps.

How could it help? It will only help the people who live in the same black spot. ????

From my point of view throttling the data purposely was his point which they were clearly doing with mine.

Anyway I moved and problem solved

Nope, that isn't the point. First person bought a plan with throttled data after the initial data volume is used up. Whereas you perhaps likely experienced congestion at busy times. Completely different scenario....unless you too purchased a throttling plan.

This is the reason I moved away from dtac. 6pm til 10pm every night the internet was unusable. We called dtac several times and it would improve for that day, then revert back the next. Changed to True after that and have had no issues since.

    That's a completely different reason....

I ended up buyong a DTAC package for 200baht/mn with unlimited 10mbs data and Dtac to dtac free calls.  3 month paid upfront. good for one year. (found on Lazada).

You paid 550 baht upfront? I think that SIM claims free calls to all networks.

Also, if it's good for a year and you are here for that long, why not purchase the one year deal for 1400 baht? https://www.lazada.co.th/products/dtac-10mbps-1-i874566303-s1766648653.html

how do you find out about it?

Possibly still available for 200 baht per month sans the free calls element.

Auto-renews for up to six months, as opposed to twelve with the original offer.

Codes may be found somewhere within TV threads. I gave up posting the codes after too many took it for granted.

    Hi guys,

does anyone has news of new/upcoming promotions of 10mbps unlimited sims?
All i can find atm is 10mbps with 100GB(AIS) or 1/4 mbps unlimited ones

Recent codes from all of the networks may still work as normal. For new SIM there may be 2/4/10 Mbps packs beginning from 150 per month. 10 Mbps @ 300 baht.

Separately, AIS has a Fixxy pack offering non-stop 10 Mbps with unlimited free calls within the AIS network and 50 minutes of calls outside the network, for 349 baht per month. AIS Super WiFi included, plus a three month trial of YouTube Premium.

Available up until the end of the month.

Thanks everyone for the replies - much appreciated.  I took it to a third shop who asked to leave it with them for a few days.  He opened the laptop and showed me the mainboard, pointing to a small black chip in the middle - no idea at all what this chip is or why he singled it out, but he seems to think if this chip can be replaced/repaired, we are good to go for 1800 baht and the laptop will work.  If it cant be repaired/replaced, the whole motherboard needs swapping out for around 10,000 Baht.  The CPU is actually part of the main board on this laptop he said.  His opinion is much the same as you guys really, he thinks if it needs a new main board its probably better just to bite the bullet and fork out for a new laptop.  he dosent sell laptops, so has no motivation to say that I guess.

I guess I will just go ahead and buy a new laptop if it cant be fixed.  Even if I do repair it, its only worth doing if I want to keep it for another 2 or 3 years and by that time it will be a 6 year old laptop.

Ill see what he says.  As another poster suggested, I have lined up the HP X360 fo 24K.  Seems like a cracking machine so i will just go ahead and buy one, if we cant get the current laptop sorted for 1800 baht.

Thanks again for all your advice, much appreciated!

My advice to you would be to stop buying consumer rubbish that is designed to look good, but totally unsuitable for when it comes to maintenance and longevity. A two to three year old laptop that you may need to scrap? That is terrible.

Now you plan to do exactly the same thing again.

Take out the Lenovo extended warranty, since it is altogether likely that you may need it.

I never buy a laptop just because it looks good. I look at how easy it is to maintain etc.

That why a few here recommend ex business machines. Designed for longevity and quick maintenance. Not just shiny bells and whistles.

Are you working for them? hahahaha- just joking as bit.

Anyway, it always seems to change at certain times of the year and is very noticeable as I usually always do the same things year in and out for my routine. Even less so now as my travel is grounded, so I am using home wifi 60% more. So don't figure! Thanks for your reach out input.

    Not a problem.

Changing your tune now, first post you said not allowed to live here under 65.000, please stop posting incorrect facts.

    If it's incorrect, it's not a fact. ????

Though indeed one does wonder why people who clearly post fiction, cannot simply admit that they got it wrong.

Instead they obfuscate and when that fails, either disappear or abuse you. It's a curious thing.

So easy to just to write, "thanks for updating me, but I didn't know that".

But it's like they think that they have lost face...on a virtually anonymous forum.

What insurance have you got?  Is it travel insurance?  If so, can I ask your country of citizenship?  This matters, because if your country of citizenship have placed a travel warning on Thailand, and one still decides to travel here, then they are not covered.

I agree.  The average Thai hanging around Pattaya waiting for the boarders to open has no idea that tourists will just not come flooding in.  It's going to take months and months to get anywhere near pre Covid numbers.  Airlines and travel insurance being of great importance to the travel industry, worldwide.

It's travel insurance and I am fully covered.

  15. I went there once, recently...

I think there was some kind of issue with the food. So I called the server over and pointed out the issue. She just laughed nervously and walked away. That was it.

Incredible, but par for the course with poorly trained Thai staff. I say poorly trained, as I have seen exemplary service from local staff. But they were trained by a Swiss chef, so you can imagine...

I just didn't like the vibe. I know something of it's origins, so it's not the kind of place I would have chosen for myself. But I was taken there by a friend. But I felt uncomfortable there and was happy to leave.

On the other hand, it's probably a nice place for single men to take (or meet) their Thai friends. Just not the kind of place for me.
