No, it isn't.
Why are people staying in Thailand when then can't meet TI's financial requirements? is the topic.
So the answer could be that they like the weather or entertainment or that they have a family to support etc
It's just you and a couple of others who have used it as a vehicle to try to boast about what you have.

What about if he doesn't hail from the USA at all? Oh...you thought there were only two countries in the whole world?
Wow...just....wow...

I have both AIS and True. At different times of the day one or the other can slow down rapidly particularly when children come back from school or workers return from work. I use both as a hotspot if the wifi signal drops on one of the providers. A post paid unlimited 30gb wifi on True is 321 a month. The quoted speed only works for part of the day. Everything depends upon where you live and the time of day you use your mobile phone wifi.
What is that? Three words that contradict each other.

If you go to Tukcom, there is also IT City on the top floor.. I bought the laptop I am using now there, in February of 2007. Yes, 2007 and still working perfectly.

Thanks, everyone, for your responses. It appears I will have several options for comparing prices and products while in Pattaya. I also did some web checking and there is a JIB store in Phetchaburi, about 35 km from my house. One in Hua Hin as well. 85 km.
Do not buy any laptop that does not utilise Solid State Drive for storage, unless you know how to upgrade from HDD to SSD by yourself. The old style spinning discs (HDD) are just too slow and fragile.

In the US we pay way, way more than that for medical insurance. Thai health insurance is dirt cheap!
So what?! He is not earning money in the US$. So what is the correlation?
Some really amazing people on this forum. The mind boggles...

That being said, foreigners without sufficient means to meet legal requirements have no business living in Thailand.
Of course you are not sorry. No need to attempt to insult my intelligence. There was absolutely no reason to write about Mercedes and Volvo Turbo, other than conceit.
Of course you make a big deal about giving. You have mentioned it twice on this thread alone.
As to your last sentence. That is just your opinion and it's really none of your business. Why concern yourself with it?
Since you claim that you are such a giving person, why aren't you helping your fellows instead of condemning them for not having as much as you?
More disgusted than offended truth be known.
What if the fellow has invested millions in a home, but has an income of 60,000 baht per month?
He has to go back to his former home country? Idiocy.

KVC is I think a computer shop retailer and repair chain like Charoen is a retail chain for spectacles.
I am waiting for the CPU to arrive in order that when it does arrive I can trot along to KVC, buy an SSD and have them install both items.
Then on your advice I come home and do a clean install of Win10.
If I have that wrong then please tell me.
Perhaps forgot that you ordered the CPU and from China. So we''ll wait. No worries.

RAM and SSD, I only ordered a CPU from W-Win in Shenzhen in China via Ali-Express, they promised 13 - 22 days. When I track my order it is moving, albeit slowly, and I think it is with the airline now, so probably another 7 days at least.
Just out of interest I must ask when I ordered this CPU FX-4300 ( I've forgotten already ) there was an original price of 2954 baht, but that was quite a few years ago, I only paid roughly 700 baht, so is what I am getting secondhand and as such pretty useless.
I was astonished at how many of them were available on Ali-Express and Lazada, which made me dubious as to their authenticity, and why I didn't go for the more expensive FX-6300 in case I was buying a dupe.
Second hand is not an issue. I put a second hand AMD CPU in this laptop. Cost 240 via eBay.
I would have definitely chosen domestic over China; https://www.ihavecpu.com/product/233/am3-amd-fx-4300-turbo-4-0ghz-4c-4t

I am buying the SSD from the local KVC, a 256 GB at 1300 baht, don't know the make / brand.
Buying but not yet bought? I honestly have no idea as to what it is that you are doing. I thought that we were waiting on the delivery. Have no idea as to what KVC might mean.

My question is that living so cheaply how do you handle emergencies that occur?
I'm glad you take pride in your cheapness. Having a little more provides us the opportunity to help others in need and or our community.
Do you imagine that you are the only one here who helps others in need?
Yet you are the only one here sneering at others and attempting to boast about what you have. Why is that?
We are all different. Not all aspiring to the same lifestyle.
Some would be happy seeing out their days in a bamboo shack on the beach, whilst others would be content with nothing less than a 350 sq m house or apartment facing the sea.
So there is really no need to boast and sneer. I never owned a Mercedes or Volvo, but that is because I have never coveted such things. Yet, I have been able to travel the world unfettered for the past 30 years.
Certainly not something that you were able to do, since you had to work. So I might choose to look down on you as a lowly worker.
But people who feel the need to look down on others in order to feel superior are, IMHO, the most pathetic of all.
We can learn a lot from the man who is self sufficient, without the trappings of wealth. If I look down on anyone, it's upon the people who boast on here.
If the people without a lump sum of cash to sit idle, can live here without being a burden to others, more power to them. May they live long, happy and fruitful lives.
I look at the character, not at the clothing.

Sure, there may be some bad (and even corrupt) IOs, but even the good ones put up with a lot of <deleted> in an average week. Based partly on my own observations and partly on advice from the wife, I think there is never any reason to be anything other than clean, neat, respectful, calm and exceedingly polite to IOs, even if you think they're wrong. Like bureaucratic officials everywhere, they have the absolute ability to obstruct you if they want to -- it's very unwise to give them any reason to want to.
I guess I'm lucky. I have come across bored IOs and unsmiling, not particularly friendly IOs, but never one that was openly disrespectful or rude. They are literally the most miserable introduction to any country I have visited and I have visited a lot of countries, many times.
Why you would want to massage the egos of those miserable bunch of misfits?
Yes, many are openly rude. Waving their hands to dismiss is openly rude and disrespectful, make no mistake.
This from a country that needs tourism like no other. Disgusting.

Built-in cleaning solutions of Chrome
Chrome offers some solutions to find malware and cleanup Chrome from within the settings of Chrome.- go to the settings of Chrome by copying and pasting “chrome://settings/cleanup” into the address bar of Chrome and hitting [enter]
- scroll to the bottom of the settings page you just opened to find the menu “Reset and clean up”
- follow both options listed there
-
Scan your device for malware
Install either of these two free antivirus programs and run a scan: -
Remove unwanted extensions
Copy and paste "chrome://extensions" into the address bar of Chrome and remove all unwanted extensions. -
Find malware installed on your device
remove all unwanted programs on the list of all programs on your computer. For Windows open the "Control Panel" and go to "Programs and Features" or just type “add or remove programs” in your start menu.

Have the RAM and SSD not yet arrived?? Did you order them from China?? Should have taken a couple of days if ordering domestically.
No need to have to deal with the removal of Browser Hijackers if you will run a clean install to SSD anyway.

Why do you assume that the software was not paid for? My question concerned dishonesty.
Because of your statements;
QuoteWindows stopped working after six months, then IDM, and then other programs.
There is no reason for paid software to stop working because Windows is not licenced. You definitely didn't pay for Windows, unless you think that 300 baht for a dodgy install covers it. So the dishonesty would be on your part.
Anyway, no need for you to derail the thread.
Unless the laptop has an official Windows sticker with Windows 10 preinstalled, install everything yourself.
You likely purchased a laptop without OS and paid a couple of hundred baht on top for a hooky install replete with dodgy software.
Easy enough to run a clean install yourself. But for those who choose to remain ignorant of anything related to their PC, it will remain an insurmountable problem.
-
Even when you narrow down the one with the highest speeds in your building, to which package will you subscribe? Higher speed only means that the data allowance can be used up more quickly.
So you'll also need to determine the likely usage and to consider your budget.

How do you ensure that a new laptop doesn't have illegal software installed? Four or five years ago, my wife bought me an Acer model in a PowerBuy store and much of the software turned out to be illegal. Windows stopped working after six months, then IDM, and then other programs. It was frustrating and time wasting.
Why would you expect there to be free software installed in the first place? IDM? Since when has that been supplied with laptops. Unless the laptop has an official Windows sticker, install everything yourself.

if i was to go with one of these dongles, pocket wifis... do shops like AIS sell simcards for it that are pay monthly - unlimited speed - i dont want the speed to decrease half way through the month or when its running out. and a good download / upload speed for online gaming? apologizes if i sound like a dinasaur. i used a dongle back in the UK from EE and i think it was capped at 20GB for 1 month only and playing on xbox online i used all that data in 3 days! insane how quikcly it uses up the data so would need to be an unlimited amount and high speed.
thanks

Don't make a drama out of it. Clearly you created the 2004 version without issue. This is third party software, nothing to do with Windows 10. In fact it is because of your installation of Windows 7. Windows 10 is even easier to install than Windows 7.
Anyway, you have the alternative method in your inbox.
