guess the memo was circulated to all under the auspices of the democrat party.

another bs allegation backed by anonymous sources from the deep state department.

Sadly you are going to go down with the ship. The crime family (thanks  Steve Bannon - you gave him the devilish playbook ) will take a lot of the US down with him when what is needed now is sane, responsible bi-bipartisanship leadership. Any bail outs will be made to bail out his properties, golf courses and the like and his Wall St pals he will throw his working class supporters under a bus whilst dialing up the xenophobic rhetoric for deflection. Like a scorpion stinging it's host - it's just  what he does. Didn't take long to sack his own staff. Judge a man as to how he treats his friend's and neighbours.

So is saying stuff like "smashed in the face with a reality check" supposed to be a substitute for a rational argument? And still no comment on the actual facts? Let's review, shall we?

England: 33% higher per capita infection rate

England: 398% higher per capita death rate

You're happy with Boris and angry at Trump. And you don't even live in the US. And you can't even make an attempt to explain your logic?

Meh... I think you've had enough. See ya!

    to be continued......

    Anecdotes. Just as I figured.

The numbers at this stage are too small to make any meaningful assumptions from the data. We will only know the true picture when the dust finally settles in a few months and the cost will be measured in lives , economic impacts and social stability. You were no doubt one of those flu deniers a few weeks ago and have been smashed in the face with a reality check sadly as has Trump.  If I was petty I would google your pronouncements but I'm not so I wont. (scuttles off to google in a mean spirited , petty way !)

The fact that you try dismiss FACTS pretty much shows you know you've lost the argument. Disqualifying one's argument because of something other than the facts presented is an old debate trick used by people who know they've lost- especially when you use false gobbledygook. Now, on what facts do you base your claim about the UK being united?

Listening to vox pop phone ins and monitoring UK forums and an educated hunch. And knowing my people we are not much bigger than California after all. Finally the time for partisan politics is at an end - we need to fight this and recover and our political class are as one at this with no time for petty political point scoring. Like I said united as a country.

England's has a death rate per capita nearly 400% higher than the US.

    FACTS. COLD, HARD FACTS.

But hey, Boris is handing out more free money! So it's all good.

No it won't be free we will all have to pay for it in the end and as a relatively wealthy person I will probably have to dig deep and pay my fair share and that is my responsibility as a citizen. But we are in it together with our front line healthcare workers the true heroes of this sad unfolding drama. Not egotistical real estate billionaires hell bent on lying their way to re-election.

Well yes of course Trump administration officials are getting annoyed with silly leftist propagandists. Trump gave that cretin an epic beat down he had coming to him. Where was he when Obama was letting 12,000 Americans die from swine flu?????

I mean really... whining about Trump saying "Chinese virus", just as the media did repeatedly, is something to get bogged down in?

The fact that you compare the two as being equivalents pretty much damns everything else you have to say I'm afraid. In the UK we are now united behind our PM and stand together as a people of whatever political persuasion to fight this damn thing. That's what being a leader for all the people means.

Yes, we should definitely unreservedly support the President. Because just because he says we're at war, doesn't mean that a pending epidemic should in any way violate free market principles. Except when it comes to bailouts.

Trump Resists Pressure to Force Companies to Make Coronavirus Supplies

"President Trump and his advisers are resisting calls from congressional Democrats and a growing number of governors to use a federal law to mobilize industry to provide badly needed resources to help halt the spread of the coronavirus, days after the president said he would consider using that authority.

The Defense Protection Act grants presidents extraordinary powers to force American industries to produce medical supplies, materials and equipment that health care workers say are in dire shortage in hospitals across the country."

Britain and Boris have just promised to pay 80% of the wages of anyone unemployed for the next 3 months and closed virtually all public spaces indefinitely. We are all in this together , thank god for a nanny state which is much better than riots and despair. On a local phone ins there is almost joy in a weight that has been lifted off the shoulders of the  British people.

  8. For the past 15 years he has warned of the dangers of a new virus emerging which could see as many as 165 million people die and he is now taking a hit of the actions of President Donald Trump for failing to do more early on to lessen the impact in the U.S. Brilliant branded Trump's claim that the coronavirus was a Democratic hoax as 'the most irresponsible act of an elected official that I've ever witnessed in my lifetime'.

When the fella upstairs says your numbers up there’s nothing any of us can do about it. When your born the only guarantee we have is one day we will die what happens in between is a bonus ,personally I wouldn’t go , lock the door and keep a low profile and if anyone asks why you weren’t there say you had a migraine.

But in this case it's not a lightning strike but a virus with a known pathology and transmission that is growing in numbers. And IMHO there's no fella upstairs just the world and known knowns. And if there is a 'fella' - why curse the world with pestilence !

  11. Once they are merry and in their cups they won't notice you are not there. Send some food / money and then cry off cos your ill and lie low along with the missus. If you are motivated enough to post here then you're worried and once paranoia sets in (or a careful analysis of risk) it's no longer fun. Are you a risk category btw ?

Yes, and if you happen to be residing in an actual retirement home, then you are posting in a home, which you call your home, posting about being at home, when you are in fact, in a residential home and not your actual, real home. ????

Home is where your heart's at.

I continue to live here for the same reasons many of us liked holidaying here when we first discovered Pattaya.

I retired younger, and I'm single. You work out why I am here.  I don't care being called a monger.  I am catching up for some lost time.  I'm here for fun, not to marry a hooker and take care of her extended family.

My biggest asset in Thailand is a motorbike that I could sell tomorrow for 20k baht, donate some other things, pack my bag and head to the airport.

I have no emotional, financial, property, or business ties here.  I have been told by many they envy my position, even more so in recent times.

I like the variety and choice of restaurants and bars, and the nightlife speaks for itself, pre virus, and in the good old days, but not so much now, but still very lively.

If one was retired and married, with no children, with a useless beach, toxic air, big sleaze factor, traffic, high crime, poor infrastructure, onerous and expensive visa requirements, corruption in your face, higher cost of living, unfriendly locals etc, why would they chose Pattaya over nicer places in Thailand, and the region?  The next generation of retiree is now recognizing this, hence a property glut.

The Chinese and Indians will not fill the western retired expat void as they have no aspirations of retiring here, so you can expect more and more worthless condo's coming onto the market each month, and if you think you can pick up a cheap one at a fire sale to rent to foreign tourists, or expats, or Thai's, think again.

Western tourists were drying up here pre virus.  Western expats were leaving, post visa law changes.  Thai's were losing employment and leaving, due to the previous mentioned.

Man up nothing wrong with an honest monger or more posh 'sexpat'. Pattaya was built on pussy.

I can only speak to low priced Nirun condos.  Before the virus,  they were selling almost as fast as they came on to the market to Chinese buyers at 700K-750K. Wait a few months and these same buyers will return.  China has a hugh up and coming middle class with cash to spend.  Pattaya is not so far away for them.

Same with the View Talays - if you have money to spare and a brave heart look for at least 50% off the listed price and cast your net wide. You might find a desperate soul needing the cash badly in a no buyer market. View loads flash your cash and don't get sentimental on the condo just the price. Don't ignore fundamentals though of location , facilities and overall management and maintenance.
