Even the Prosecution's opening statement said that they make no claim as to whether the Daniels dustup would have materially affected the 2016 election results.

What proz saying is that they were not going into the hush money affair per se (whether the two actually ever met, fvcked, had a pillow or dildo fight) or the effect it might or might not produce. It's just not their target.

Anyway how many time does it need to be pointed out that this trial is about falsyfying of records and not about the hush-up? Playing dumb is not going to win any argument for ya. Neither is deflection (about evidence or lack thereof re the tryst.)

f the Access Hollywood tape did not cost Trump the election, there is no evidence that the Daniels brouhaha would've made the difference.

Again the stale worn "no there is no evidence that  blal bla bla would've made the difference" nonsense when one has nothing that make sense to offer, or to voice one's discontent by.

Stormy Daniels mader Trump campaign run around like chickens with head cut off.

So, why do you need to send two passport pictures if you are only sending one DS-82 Renewal application.

In my case, I glued 1 onto the form itself at the blank space for photo. The other 1 I put in a little see-through paper envelope, with my name and old pp number in the back. It was returned untouched, still in the see through thing, included in the new pp package.

[I stand corrected at the mention of "cashier check" in my previous post. It was "bank draft" and I forgot the term for it so I said "cashier check."]

How did he get an appointment? There is no option on the online appointment schedule for passport renewals.

True, appointment for passport renewal is not an option on the website, but there was no definite no-no as in "you can't just show up and barge in to renew your passport!" (The instructions wording is rather obtuse when it comes to this, at purpose I must say.)

The guy just showed up at the gate with all the forms in hand and prolitely told the guard that he would like to renew his passport. He was let in. I did mull over this option myself, but like most, was too chicken to do it and had to gone through all the miseries of doing it by mail.

You can buy the Courier Pass back at a Thai Post Office, but again, most seem able to purchase this online.

It's a moot point because as instructed, "Prepaid envelope cannot be accepted if you are applying for a U.S. passport in Thailand." When I did this last year, I got a separate cashier check for the embassy to use as fund to send my new pp to me when the embassy got it from US passport services.

A side note to American expats in Bangkok: best to just do it in person at the embassy, even though they try to "talk" you out of it in so many ways - but no where did they say "No way!" Someone  on in this forum insisted this in-person approach as he distrusted all mail services. He showed up at the embassy, submitted the forms, photos,  money matters to a real person, and told her to email him when the embassy got his new pp so he could come back and collect it. That's how he got his new pp.

Best part of this, beside all documents  passing from his hands directly to the embassy staff, and vice versa on the way back, is if anything not acceptable (forms, photos, money matters) he will know it right then and there. Had I done it this way, I would still have a full head of hair.

I reached out to mobile2you with Lazada messaging, they directed me to their line account.

I just did that, they replied with "Now the product [30mbps] is out of stock. Unlimited internet customers have a maximum speed of 15mbps. Are you interested in using it first?"

On the other hand, looks like Melon Thai is having it again, though the price is 1k more than last year..

In short the stock availability seems to change month to month.

I had exactly the same issue. I reached out to mobile2you with Lazada messaging, they directed me to their line account. They said they no longer sell them on Lazada or Shoppee but I could buy direct from them for 2790 which is exactly what I did.  Quick delivery, a hour to register online with DTAC, I now have another year.

Could you provide the link to mobile2you website? I tried Mobile2You.com and co.th and got nowhere... Thanks.

I submitted old and new bank book, with copies of all pages, and statement and bank letter only from the new bank.

Both document checker and IO looked thoroughly at the dates of my transactions, both were satisfied and didn't even mention anything to me.

Thanks for the update. Much appreciated.

Even if the transition happens in one day, "logic" would dictate that:

a ) Closing one account and opening a new account (ie moving 800K between old and new one) on the SAME DAY "should" satisfy the requirement that you have 800K in one bank account of that particular day.

(I say "should" because IO could nick pick that at one period of that day, between the closing of one and the opening of the other, you did not have 800K in a bank account. I remember some past situation when - in one same account as opposed to closing one and opening another - one person made a withdrawal that let the balance drop below 800K, but later filled it up. He did that in the same day. However the IO faulted him on that, saying that in one instance - even though within the same day - his account dipped below the 800K line and therefore not qualified for extension!)

b ) If you have that transition stretched out say 2 weeks, meaning having 2 accounts both holding 800K each for 2 weeks, then for that period you have twice the amount of 800k in bank accounts.

In both scenarios, you have satisfied the requirement of having at least 800k in bank account(s) during the "transition" period. The rest would be the formalities of proof, ie the supporting documents, and that would be at the whims of the IO, though on our part we can make sure to have bank statements and bank books (both old and new accounts) at the ready just in case. As it turned out, you only needed "statement and bank letter only from the new bank." Good job!

keep them separate, you won't have the 'thought my 90 day calendar reset when I did my extension' issue cropping up.  But people may differ on that.

I assume by "people"you mean us the applicants. I can recall from experience why the two would get lumped together, and it wasn't by the IO. One time I was doing both extension and 90 day report at the same time because both time frames kinda "collided." In that instance, the people at the queue machine told me to do the extension first, so that when I was ready to do the report afterward, I could use the new extension (expiration) date. That's how I see the 90 day date got "reset."

My IO resets the report date every year on approval of the extension application.

I did my 90 day report on line sometime in April (and on schedule after I got an email reminder.) The report was successful and it came back with a receipt and  next report due date (sometime in July).

A week later, the last week of April, I went to Immigration to do my annual extension. The IO did not say anything about my 90 day report, nor whether the report due date has been reset. So I guess I would expect some sort of hiccups when I do my next on-line reporting?

I feel bad for the LGBs, as they just want equality, while their cause is kind of being high-jacked.

Those are your words. Like I said before, your bias is showing.

Then adding fake sympathy to injury, or shall I say, hypocrisy: "I feel bad for the LGBs,...their cause is kind of being high-jacked." There is a word for pushing one (sub-) group against another, it's called "snitch." They (the trans) are not hi-jacking the gay cause. It's the likes of you that are doing it. And the same manner you are hell-bent on pushing your propaganda that somehow gays want their same sex marriage to be regarded as "man-woman" marriage. Insidious.

Is having someone like you implying that I blow other men is supposed to make me feel bad? That's hilarious.

Always take things literally, that's your weak point. Dummies tend to say "hilarious' when they run out of argument. Another fast friend of yours also used the same tactic. (This one 's specialty however is in the pot calling the kettle black, as shown in "we were over-educting our idiots."  Yeah this bloke loves to make up new words...)

FYI, The only person whose blood can be considered "pure" is Dracula. He was born with a self-purifying blood system, genetically traceable to the still thriving local bats (according to a tourist-guide whom I hired during my jaunt through the Eastern Bloc this summer...)

Once they get the "gender affirming care" thing going, will trans kids be able to get puberty blockers and have their genitals mutilated under the 30-Baht scheme? Asking for a friend....

As the forum resident fluffer, you have the amazing ability to "blow" AND whistle simultaneously. The average one could only do one at a time, usually blows and then whistles, as a signal they're done with the "blow" part...

The article clearly states what is wanted:

"Activists say using “parents” and “mother and father” in legal terms will affirm those who identify as LGBTQ on equal terms with other couples."

They want the legislation to make them legally considered mother and father/parents to the child/children.

Probably webfact is sending out their own in-house "activists." Personally. I won't have this kind of "activists" working on my gay cause. "Parents," definitely, but "mother and father" as a same sex couple? No way Jose. Are you kidding? Us gays have gone too far in our quest for equality  to settle for this parental gender-divider. Such nonsense. Two mothers or two fathers can't do the job? Says who, considering the most commonly heard complaint from straight unions since millennium has been about mothers doing most of the child rearing chores.

Nevertheless, the takeaway from outsiders looking in has taken on this twisted interpretation of the term "equal marriage" - embellishing with their own bias such as "one of whom wants to be a man"

    23 hours ago, BangkokReady said:

The person in question still wants to be a man, and that is what they want the legislation to make legal.

FYI, bias = "A preference or an inclination, especially one that inhibits impartial judgment." Or let me elaborate on that: the tendency to (mis)interpret other people's words, action or intention, based on one's personal preference or  inclination.

Thanadech is not asking legislation to legalize his desire  "to be a man." He's asking for equal marriage (same sex marriage being equally legal as straight marriage). Which  means by doing that he has implicitly conceded that in the eye of the laws, he and his girlfriend are still of the same sex ie woman and woman. Not man and woman.

But if you still insist on applying the "man and woman" paradigm onto an "equal marriage" bill that us gay are hoping for, then you''re not only out of place, you're out of touch (and your bias is showing!)

The whole article is just unnecessary fear-mongering and the headline is clickbait, if you ask me. The Thais won't have a problem with gay marriage, regardless of wording.

Webfact does what a checkout line tabloid has to do to get readership. Always grab a piece of news by the most sensationalistic angle, regardless whether that angle covers the rule or the exception. With matters regarding gender roles within the LGBTQ group, which is by nature rife with confusion, webfact would add a few potholes here and there to make sure readers have ground to sow their own biases. Case in point:

On 4/9/2024 at 12:00 AM, BangkokReady said:

It sounds like their concern is not about whether they can marry or not, but that the wording within the bill doesn't effectively mean: "If two biological females, one of whom now wants to be a man, are married and living with one of the couple's children, they will be legally considered a man and a woman and the legal parents of those children".

Bias One : "one of whom now wants to be a man," - "One of whom," Thanadech has already gone through sex change, ie he has long passed the "wants to be a man" stage. In his mind he is now a man (whether the laws agree is another matter.) There's no mention of his girlfriend, the one whose child they are raising together, "now wants to be a man" either.

Bias Two: (they, the couple, are concerned) the bill doesn't effectively mean: they will be legally considered a man and a woman and the legal parents of those children."
This is what Thanadech is quoted as saying in the article"

I want the equal marriage law to be passed. It will make my family complete like any other family of men and women.” Though something might be lost in the translation, "family of men and women" in this context should be understood as "straight family."  Thanadech wants equal rights for his family as those of a straight family. No where did he said that there must be a man and a woman to "make my family complete."

In the few local malls that I frequent, now and then they would have on the ground floor a mini-book fair (selling discounted books plus a few tables of stationary and knicknack) just to stir the popular reading interest up I guess. In the (translated from) foreign-language corner, you can find a lot of history books, and among these Hitler/Mein Kampf feature prominently, as if this is the latest trend... Even though this book fair does move around from mall to mall, its stock remains more or less the same. So what can we be hoping- or dispairing rather - from this?
