  1. Here is a warning.  Within the last hour I tried to transfer my pension from the UK to Thailand. In order to ensure that the transfer is listed as an international transfer ( necessary for those of us who use the income method in order to gain an extension of stay ) I always use to chose the reason as "living expenses for long term stay in Thailand".   That option has of today been removed !! In fact the list of options has totally been revised. I have sent an email to TW seeking an explanation. As the UK contact center was currently closed I also rang Singapore whom in my opinion where next to useless in either understanding the issue or even bothering to listen to me.   So as of this point in time there is zero guarantee that TW will list your remittances to your Thai bank as an international transfer. So it appears it is back to SWIFT unfortunately, unless of course TW changes things back again.

  2. Why do these overpaid prima donnas command so much air time when they have accidents due to their own actions ? Much is being said about whether his leg injuries will impact his golfing future. But who really cares ?  I and millions others certainly dont' and guess his ex-wife will think perhaps it is just karma.  Just hope he does not go the way of OJ Simpson,  another prima donna who could not live up to his success.

Microsoft Antivirus, and firewall, and and and is very good. There is absolutely no reason to buy something else. That was shown again and again in professional computer magazines.

And IMHO one of the best features of the MS solution is that it just works. No annoying messages, no annoying questions. Nothing. It just works.

And for the record: I would personally pay for other solutions if they would be better. I don't have to do that.

My experience too. In fact many of the so called anti vrus software puts as much malware on your pc as they claim to detect.

Two of 21 commissioners to form reconciliation panel will represent protesting groups

A meeting between the House speaker, the chief government whip and the chief opposition whip on Tuesday agreed that 21 commissioners would form a reconciliation panel, two of whom would represent pro-democracy protester groups, House Speaker Chuan Leekpai said.

“Two persons will be representatives of groups that disagree with the government [protesters], two will represent the government, two will be MPs from the government coalition, two MPs from the opposition, two from the Senate, two from groups that agree with the government, and the remaining nine will be experts in related fields,” Chuan said.

The experts will come from the Council of University President of Thailand (three persons), Rajabhat University (one), Rajamangala University of Technology (one), and the other four will be selected from a list of those who have experience in political reconciliation.

“The panel will have as its secretary the deputy secretary-general of the House of Representatives, while four officials from the Office of the Secretary-General will act as assistant secretaries,” Chuan said.

“The president of the committee will be selected by its members.”

When asked about his expectations on the reconciliation panel, Chuan said he did not expect an excellent resolution but a concrete one that could be implemented instantly to solve the current problems.

“If the protesters refuse to join the panel, we will continue working with what we have, and will try to invite all parties to take part in the reconciliation,” he added.

Meanwhile, chief Pheu Thai whip Suthin Klungsaeng said the opposition would later discuss whether or not it would have its representatives join the panel.

“It is a good sign that the first step towards reconciling political problems has been jointly put in motion by the government, the opposition and the Senate,” he said.

House of Representatives deputy secretary-general Khunnawut Tantrakul, who will serve as the reconciliation panel secretary, said that after this he would send formal letters to six authorities (the government, chief government whip, chief opposition whip, Council of University President, Rajabhat University and Rajamangala University of Technology) to select representatives to join the panel as per their quota.

“We will not post a deadline for representative nominations, but will arrange a meeting as soon as we receive all the names required by the quota,” he added.

Looks like Home-pro may see a rush in the sale of brushes and whitewash shortly.

@robertson468 What do you actually envision? Power everything entirely off-grid, supplement your power bill, look green to your residents?

What's the building roof like, you could have gazebo shade structures with panels on the top, two birds, one stone.

If you go over 10kW installed panels a whole new raft of legislation comes in to play, you will definitely need a professional installer.

Just to clarify.  You mention over 10KW introduces increased legislation.   By that do you mean it is more regulation over 10KW even if you are totally off-grid ?  I can understand why there may well be further compliance should you wish to have an on-grid set-up but off-grid , really ?   Also how would anyone know in an off-grid installation as to whether your installation has a 9.9KW capability or say a 16 KW capability ? The number of visible solar panels would not give much indication as the spec for panels currently available differ in outputs

It takes about week to get the 12 month statement at many offices. It be obtained at some main branches while you wait.

If he is going to be in Bangkok he can go to the main office on Silom Road and get one while he waits for it.

Where will he be applying for his extension at?

If needed he could apply for 60 day extension to visit his wife to get more time to do the application if needed.

Many thanks and passed your info on

It appeared to me reading your post he did have a valid extension when he left the country.

If he has a valid re-entry permit he would still be on a extension based upon retirement and would need 12 months of transfers.

You wrote this so I think he already has 12 months of transfers or will have when he needs to apply.

Many thanks for the clarity. Yes he will have 12 months by the time of his return. His only issue was he know that BKK bank can take more than a week to provide a 12 month statement whereas for 2/3 months he can get over the counter. Not sure of his exact return date but he gave impression he has only a few days before coming out of quarantine and when his current extension expires, hence his worry about having to wait a week for his 12 month statement.

It will be considered his first extension since he will be entering with a new non-o visa. He only needs 2 or 3 transfers of 40 baht from abroad.

If has more than 2 or 3 months he should show proof of them as well.

Many thanks for your reply but I am not sure as to whether he will be entering with a new non-O visa. You see he was on an extension due to retirement and like many years before, when he was on extensions due to marriage, I am sure he always had multi-entry  permits as he used to come and go a bit. So does that count as a new non-O ?

  9. A pal of mine has got permission to finally return back to Thailand and after his 14 day quarantine he will need to apply for his yearly extension towards the end of next month. He has asked me a question which I have no idea about so hopefully someone can advise so that I can pass it on.

The issue is that he used to be here on 1 year extensions based on marriage, income confirmed by his embassy.  Last year the embassy letters were no longer available to him so he used, or tried to use the monthly income method. Although he thought he had it covered because his average monthly income into a Thai bank was over the required amount , one month, due to payment dates, there was a short fall and the IO turned down his application. So he had to use a retirement extension method  based on having more than 800,000 THB in the bank.

This money he had be saving for his daughter and apparently now he has given it to her.  He had planned this so throughout the present year he has ensured that a monthly remittance into his Thai bank has been in excess of 40,000 THB.

Now the question I hope some one can answer is this. Having last year been on an extension based on retirement and now wishing to revert to one based on marriage again, will he have to show 12 months of remitted income to his Thai bank,  or as it is in effect a new extension based on marriage, will he need to only show 2 months income into his Thai bank ?

    Thanks for any feedback.

  10. An exemplary and brave lady indeed. Better not push the Thai/American connection to much as simple searches reveal the it was her American Father responsible for her upbringing, not her Thai Mum who abandoned her apparently.  Now where have we read that before ? A bit like Alex Albon the F1 racer who has received millions in support from Thai sponsors, always of course ignoring the fact that his Thai Mum received a 7 year jail sentence in the UK for Fraud. Google is  good for finding facts.

A copy of the marriage certificate for a spouse of a Thai national is an absolute requirement to be included on the application.

And so it should be in my opinion. Anyone who is silly enough to go through a mickey mouse village wedding, with a mickey mouse monk present and expect it to be recognised by the real world should really move to Disney land. A legal marriage in Thailand is so simple and uncomplicated it suggests those that prefer the mickey mouse approach have something to hide and are now complaining that they are being denied entry into Thailand.

  12. Maybe it is my age or perhaps after wading through this thread and missing it but I have found that this  is unclear and the replies have been somewhat ambiguous and unreferenced as to to one very important aspect that concerns me and that is specifically the 90 day reporting option.

There appears to have been an assumption maybe in light of the current statement from the government that indeed the 90 day reporting option has been deferred until 31st July.

For the avoidance of doubt on this specific item, i.e. the 90 day reporting option only, can someone provide me with an unambiguous and specific reference  within yesterdays government statement or perhaps an Immigration instruction on this issue because deductions and assumptions by those who think they know are all fine and dandy until the perhaps one day in the future we return to normal 90 day returning only to be informed at our respective IO offices that the 90 day reporting was indeed not included !

Appreciate a specific reference to this item because unless I see it it black and white from an official source I think the risk of the consequences of not being in compliance of one's 90 day reporting date is too high to rely upon assumptions, deductions and even though  these may appear to be logical deductions/assumptions.
