When you get 30 days at the border, is the 30 days calculated from the day you cross the border or from the last day of your previous visa/extension? Thanks

Laos seems to be the only practical option (I'm in Chiang Mai) at the moment for a border run. When doing border runs in the past to Myanmar, i just needed my passport and 500 Baht - walk in and out in 5 minutes. Any extra complications like a Visa required to do this in Laos?

Need to extend my stay for another 30 days with a border crossing. Mae Sai is closed to foreigners. Was hoping Mae Sot would still be open.

Before covid I used to do Chiang Mai - Mae Sai to extend my stay. I've been told that for the time being only Thais can use this crossing. If you've used public transport to get up to Laos to do the same thing please let me know how you did it. I heard somewhere that you need to book a tour to cross into Laos.

Came to Thailand on 60 day tourist visa. Got 30-day extension which expires at the end of month. Can I get another month by doing a border run? Thanks
