  1. Pattaya, Thailand-The body of missing German businessman Hans Peter Mack, 62, was found in a rental home in Pattaya last evening and was confirmed early this morning, July 11th, 2023 around 12:30 AM by Banglamung officials. First, you can catch up on our previous coverage of the week-long search for Mr. Mack and the three million baht reward that had been offered for his safe return here. Mr. Mack’s body was found in a large freezer in a rental home in the Chokchai Garden Home 1 Village in Pattaya which police targeted following reviewing leads they had been investigating throughout the last 24 hours and CCTV that showed the freezer being transported in a black pickup truck by what appeared to be foreign nationals. Mr. Mack’s body had been cut into multiple pieces, according to forensic technicians, placed in black garbage bags, and stored in a freezer at the rental room. There was nobody present at the home at the time of the discovery, but neighbors said there had been until yesterday morning, July 10th, 2023. According to Mr. Rewat Rodchuen, 35 years old, a neighbor of the rental villa in question, the home had been occupied by a German friend of Mr. Mack, so far only identified as Olaf, who had been interviewed by police over the weekend regarding the disappearance of Mr. Mack. Olaf had reportedly lived in the home for about three months, according to Rewat. 10. In order to safeguard the students of Satriwithaya School in Bangkok, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has erected fences around a number of deserted buildings that have been used as makeshift homes by the city’s homeless. This measure follows the widespread online sharing of worrying images portraying homeless individuals occupying spaces on Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue, near the school. Countering concerns raised by a multitude of parents regarding their children’s security, Ekwaranyu Amrapan, spokesperson for the BMA, announced yesterday that personnel from the Phra Nakhon District Office have surveyed the area around the school and constructed fences around several abandoned structures nearby. One structure was the Suksapan shop, a government-owned stationery store that was decommissioned in February 2019. To further improve conditions in the area, the district office commissioned a group of street sweepers last Saturday to dispose of waste littering the area and thoroughly cleanse it. Amrapan specified that the primary concern driving parents was the fact that children were obliged to pass by these homeless communities on their way to catch a bus or while waiting for their parents to collect them after school. Amidst this, some well-wishers were found providing food to the homeless at night. Speaking to this, Amrapan pointed out that the BMA had designated two spots close by as official locations for arranging food donations. by Mitch Connor Picture courtesy of Thatri Jintawijit Facebook. #news Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/bangkok/bangkok-safeguarding-students-with-fences-around-homeless-haunted-buildings -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-07-10 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. 19. A 65 year old merchant from Samut Prakan pulled out all the stops to repay her debts. She successfully managed to sell her land for more than 10 million baht after praying to a monk. The money was subsequently donated to a temple. The community curiously questioned her age and other numerologies, hoping it would prove lucky for them too. The woman, Worranuch Pinsak, found respite from her financial quandaries after selling her property which had been on the market for quite a while. The disposal occurred in quick succession following prayers to the monk ‘Luang Por Hamjan.’ Waranuch was relieved after being bogged down by debts and the pressures of her business spiralling downwards. The unforeseen sale allowed her to clear her financial obligations and save a portion of the proceeds for her old age, reported Sanook. This delightful change of fortune is believed to be the outcome of a sacred image of Luang Por Hamjan that was given to her. She was advised to chant and pray for celestial assistance, in return for which she vowed to contribute a part of the sales proceeds to a temple and also commission a holy statue as an offering, should she successfully sell her land. by Samantha Rose Picture courtesy of Sanook. #news Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/central-thailand/65-year-old-samut-prakan-trader-clears-debts-after-land-sale-for-over-10-million-baht -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-07-10 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
