Pattaya robbery: Mother and son targeted, stolen valuables worth 100,000 baht
In a disquieting Pattaya robbery event, a mother and her young son became victims of a theft in their rental room in Pattaya. The 26 year old mother found her home broken into and valuables worth more than 100,000 baht, including her four year old son’s cherished piggy banks, taken. The mother, Nisachon Charoengpong, brought this dreadful Pattaya robbery incident to the police’s attention, guiding them into the room, explaining the situation, and indicating the area from which the thief had removed items. She conveyed that during the break-in, which occurred around 5pm one day and was discovered the next day at 5am, neither she nor her son was present. Finding the locked door left wide open and the lights still on, Nisachon realised something had gone horribly wrong. Among the stolen items, the three piggy banks held a special place. They belonged to her son, a preschooler, who had been diligently saving from his school allowance. Following the traumatic Pattaya robbery incident, the young boy reportedly fell silent, refusing to speak. by Top Photo courtesy of TMN Cable TV Pattaya. #news Full story: https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/crime/pattaya-mother-and-son-robbed-childs-piggy-banks-worth-100000-baht-stolen -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-07-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Thai man hunted following suspected murder of 12 year old stepdaughter
A recent crime in Thailand has seen a 29 year old man become a prime suspect in the brutal death of a 12 year old girl, referred to as ‘Ae.’ He was acting as the caretaker for Ae, who was his stepdaughter. The incident reportedly occurred at 3.30am today, with claims that the man allegedly beat Ae to death, using a baseball bat, before hiding her body in a concrete-filled ice box, supposedly due to Ae’s purported act of stealing food supplements prepared for clients. Currently, investigation officers are intensifying their efforts to apprehend Yuthana or ‘Jaeb.’ Information suggests that after the incident, he might have gone to a friend’s apartment complex in Bangkok’s Din Daeng district, and remained uncontactable afterwards. Meanwhile, his spouse, Niramon, has been detained, and her testimony successfully recorded by the investigation team. If discovered to have been complicit in the crime, she may face legal prosecution on the grounds of aiding and abetting murder, as well as the concealment of a corpse. Uphill task to demilitarize and decentralize Thailand’s deep South for lasting peace
How will the coalition partners reconcile their differences in approach towards resolving the long-running conflict in the predominantly Muslim deep South? In the second of a three-part series, our Political Desk analyses the challenges in pursuing a peace process. The eight-party coalition expected to form the new government led by the Move Forward Party faces tough challenges mapping out a new peace initiative in the restive South, according to members of the working group. Among the progressive ideas being considered are demilitarization and decentralization of the region. Peace in the predominantly Muslim region has been earmarked as a priority by the new coalition and they intend to deliver some concrete outputs within the first 100 days of the new government taking office. While many governments in the past have struggled to contain violence orchestrated by faceless insurgents since 2004, this will be the first major effort to resolve the southern crisis as the new coalition strives to translate the people’s mandate they got from the May 14 election to bring peace to the region. Mysterious bullet incident: Thai girl narrowly escapes tragedy as stray shot hits home
Residents in the Thai province of Prachinburi faced a near-tragic event on June 26, when a mysterious bullet pierced a window of a home in the small village of Ban Na. The bullet’s path aligned directly with the head of a young girl running playfully inside the house at the time of the incident. Thiphat, the occupant of the house, captured attention when she posted a photo of the bullet-riddled window on Facebook, vocalising her outrage at this reckless act. According to her, the mysterious bullet event unfolded around 7.15pm as she prepared dinner and her children were playing at home. On hearing a sound akin to shattered glass, she walked around investigating the source and discovered her window bearing the tragic signs of a gunshot. “No matter how annoyed you are at a person or dog, or you’re panicked, you shouldn’t do this. There are kids playing in the house, what if it had hit the child’s head? I don’t even want to think about it.” Thiphat had written in her caption under the Facebook post. by Nattapong Westwood Photo courtesy of KhaoSod #news Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/thai-girl-narrowly-escapes-tragedy-as-stray-bullet-hits-home-in-prachinburi -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-07-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. It doesn’t matter if I’m married, divorced or with a child. I can show my talents regardless of my marital status.” First time as a married woman When it comes to beauty pageants, most competitions, including Miss Universe, have always been restricted to single women. This will no longer be the case, as the Miss Universe Organisation has made a historical change to its rules to allow married women and mothers to compete. Image Courtesy: Praveenar Singh Thakral / MUT Phuket Upon learning of the announcement, Praveenar Singh Thakral decided to compete again, as a married woman, with hopes of inspiring other women to follow their dreams, regardless of their marital status. In fact, her husband was the first to tell her about the changes and fully supports her entering Miss Universe Thailand 2023. “I think that is such a wonderful thing,” she said. “It’s a step of inclusivity that shows that equality for women is real and it keeps happening every day. We are part of the society and, as individuals, we should make this society more inclusive for all women.” By Nad Bunnag, Thai PBS World Top Image Courtesy: Praveenar Singh Thakral / MUT Phuket #news Full story: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/never-let-societal-norms-change-your-mind-praveenar-singh-thakral/ -- © Copyright Thai PBS 2023-07-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Workplace rights: Pregnant Thai nurse’s plea highlights urgent need for improvement
In the online realm, a pregnant nurse’s outcry for workplace safety is causing a stir. Despite being eight months pregnant, the nurse is subjected to late afternoon shifts, highlighting the pressing need for workplace rights. She warned that if one falls silent, conditions exacerbate instead of improving. Her ordeal, posted today has amplified pleas for worker protection laws. The nurse shared a picture of her pregnant self on Facebook, displaying her burgeoning baby bump. Accompanying the image, she posed a series of questions to reflect her distress: “Where is the safety of life when an eight-month pregnant woman is forced to work a late afternoon shift? Can a pregnant woman effectively manage duties when her stamina is dwindling?” Her forceful statements sparked thoughtful discussions among the broader public, igniting talks on workplace rights in Thailand, a topic seldom discussed. “I apologise for this outright rant, but I couldn’t contain it any more. Please tell me we have laws protecting workers,” she urged. “Sometimes, silence means acceptance of worsening conditions.” The heated post was shared widely and garnered many reactions from other social media users, who empathised and expressed solidarity with her predicament, reported KhaoSod. by Nattapong Westwood Photo courtesy of KhaoSod #news Full story: https://thethaiger.com/news/national/pregnant-thai-nurses-plea-highlights-urgent-need-for-improved-workplace-rights -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-07-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Child neglect: Bangkok townhouse horror unfolds as deceased minor found in cement-filled cooler
A twelve year old girl was found lifeless inside a 200-litre plastic ice-cooler, covered in cement and fertiliser soil, at a townhouse in Bangkok functioning as an online retail packaging service. The investigation reveals a tale of child neglect, domestic abuse and horrific crime. The site of the child neglect incident was a two-storey townhouse used for online sale packaging services in Phahon Yothin Road, Anusawari, Bang Khen, Bangkok. Inside the kitchen on the ground floor, a 200-litre blue barrel utilised for ice storage was found. The upper soil layer of the barrel was mixed with cement. When the cement was broken apart, the body of the pre-adolescent girl, anonymously named as “A”, was discovered, estimated to have been deceased for approximately 48 hours. Apinya or Belle, 24 years old, the person who reported the incident, informed the authorities that the victim was a distant relative’s daughter, who, despite not being a student, lived with them from the age of five. The victim’s caregivers were Apinya’s sister Mint, 30 years old, and her husband Yutthana, or Jab, 29 years old. According to Apinya, the victim had a stubborn character and often stole food from within the house. The caregivers had to constantly warn and punish her, leading to several instances of physical abuse. by Nattapong Westwood Top Photo courtesy of KhaoSod #news Full story: https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/crime/bangkok-townhouse-horror-neglected-child-found-dead-in-cement-filled-cooler-relative-admits-to-crime -- © Copyright Thaiger 2023-07-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
