It occurred at 8.27 am and saw the left leg of a 57-year-old Terminal Two passenger travelling to Nakhon Si Thammarat province engorged by a faulty walkway escalator, causing it to be severed at the knee and prompting an emergency response at Thailand’s second busiest airport. Thailand’s second busiest airport was the kingdom’s main airport until 2006. Thursday’s freak accident followed another freak event with an escalator in 2019 when a visitor to the airport lost a rubber shoe to a malfunctioning moving stair. Officers from Mueang Nong Bua Lamphu Police Station dashed to the forest park yesterday, June 28, and discovered the lifeless body of 39 year old Praditsin Chuypad. Praditsin’s pants and legs were soaked in blood. Nearby the body a strimmer was located next to a broken metal cutting blade. The rescue team then removed Praditsin’s pants to assess the cause of his demise. Praditsin’s genitals were reported to be cut. A deep wound was also discovered in his left groin. The severity of the injury had affected his arteries, leading to significant blood loss and his death. The police later discovered a part of the breaking blade which was covered with blood. They predicted that the blade was broken after it directly hit Praditsin. Thailand and the United Kingdom (UK)are looking to fortify their economic ties now the toxic dust of Brexit has settled. JETCO Director-General Auramon Supthaweethum spoke at length about the expected sectors that are set to benefit from this economic bolstering. These sectors range from food and drink, health, education, the automotive industry, agriculture, and the digital sector. The subsequent aim of these actions is to form a foothold for future negotiations of free trade between the two nations. The economic relationship between Thailand and the UK has flourished since the UK severed ties with the European Union in 2021. It was within that same year that the two countries put pen to paper and agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding. The mission is to establish JETCO. The goal of this endeavour was the amplification and enhancement of economic cooperation in trade and investment, focussing particularly on sectors that spark mutual interest, reported Bangkok Post. The first ministerial JETCO meeting was hosted in June of the previous year. Among the attendance were Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanawisit and the UK’s Minister of State for Trade Policy, Penny Mordaunt. Within this first meeting, a 1-2 year work plan was approved to facilitate trade expansion and reduce trade barriers within the aforementioned mutually interesting sectors. An 82 year old resident monk at a temple in Thailand’s Buriram was reportedly duped by a conman impersonating a monk, leading to the theft of 180,000 baht (US$5,051) from the temple. Villagers from Butapuang, Mueang district yesterday called for the police to track down the culprit. Yesterday at around 1pm, the imposter paid a visit to the temple where the resident monk resides. The imposter, a man around 50 years old with a missing tooth and dark complexion, began the conversation by enquiring about security cameras in the area. To that question, the resident monk responded negatively. The fake monk then claimed that the air conditioner in the living quarters was defective, thus diverting the monk’s attention. He then asked for a white envelope, claiming he was going to make a donation to the temple. When the resident monk discovered that 180,000 baht was missing, he immediately alerted the rest of the temple monks. It was believed that the theft was committed by the imposter, reported KhaoSod. According to a Channel 7 report, a Kazakhstan man was arrested by Thai police officers from Mueang Pattaya Police Station, and Koh Samui Police Station, after he and his friends stole from a victim on Koh Samui, an island in the southern province of Surat Thani. The Thai lawyer, Krit Neatidham, who took care of the case reported to Channel 7 that the Kazakhstan man was later apprehended by Immigration Bureau officers and imprisoned for over two weeks at the immigration office in Bangkok. Krit stated that he and the suspect’s Thai wife attempted to gain temporary release for him to proceed with further litigation in court.
