"Pangeos" the floating city of the future The Terayacht idea started in the 2009 while the designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini conceived a giga yacht structure capable to host an entire city. The project extend his length for 550 meters (1800 ft) and measures 610 (2000 ft) meters at his widest point. At the moment, Pangeos is just a concept, but it's starting to his way to become something more than a computer animation. The Terayacht project: https://pangeosyacht.com/projects -- 2022-11-14

by Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - A number of Thai workers have recently been scammed into paying for “specified skilled worker” visas to work in Japan. The labor minister is addressing their plight and has tasked the Department of Employment to quickly handle this matter. Labor minister Suchart Chomklin spoke of 27 Thais who have filed a complaint with the chairman of the Senate committee on labor to request assistance. He explained the individuals have been tricked by employment agents who claimed they are able to find work in Japan for the individuals. The agents claim the Thais will enter Japan using “specified skilled worker” visas. Those who were tricked by the agents paid 20,000-70,000 to secure visas and jobs. Mr. Suchart said the agents would endlessly postpone the travel date. Upon noticing the abnormality of the agents, the victims would request a refund to no avail. Some of the victims are greatly distressed as they have already resigned from work in Thailand in anticipation of the new job in Japan. The total value of losses has amounted to 5 million baht. The labor minister said he ordered the Department of Employment to immediately inspect the matter upon his hearing of the issue. He said he wanted to tell Thais who are looking to work abroad to check the Department of Employment’s list of agent companies before making any transfer. Those interested in working abroad may visit the website doe.go.th as well as does.go.th/overseas to get information before taking any action. They can also inspect the list of licensed agency firms at doe.go.th/ipd to make sure they are dealing with actual agents. Problems with work application of travel to the destination country may be reported to the Department of Employment or the provincial employment office nearest to the person’s residence. Alternatively, call the Ministry of Labor’s hotline number 1506, or the Department of Employment’s hotline number 1694. WHO Praises Thailand’s Strength in Handling COVID-19 by Paul Rujopakarn Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu. File photo BANGKOK (NNT) - Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), recently sent a letter to Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to thank him for championing the Universal Health and Preparedness Review (UHPR). Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu. File photo by Paul Rujopakarn BANGKOK (NNT) - Dr. The letter also informed Minister Anutin that Thailand has been instrumental as one of the first countries in the world to pilot the UHPR initiative for public health emergencies and its handling of the COVID-19 crisis. The WHO chief highlighted many of Thailand’s critical assets that were key to safeguarding and assisting its population and residents during the pandemic. These included enacting decisive national policies, maintaining an effective public healthcare and health insurance system with a dedicated workforce, innovative approaches to advancing health, and promoting multisectoral coordination between the government, private sector, and civil society. Dr. Tedros noted that WHO members were particularly responsive to the presentation of Thailand’s performance to the World Health Assembly (WHA) in May 2022. Thailand is now cited as a guideline model for WHO members to follow in preparation for emerging diseases. The WHO is currently updating its technical package based on information obtained via the UHPR initiative, with the WHO Technical Advisory Group to produce recommendations for improving and simplifying its working methods. Minister Anutin said that the impact of covid-19 has reflected the fact that the global community didn’t prepare for such an outbreak. The lack of financial investment to respond to the pandemic is part of the issue. The 12th APEC’s High-Level Meeting on Health and Economy between August 25-26 this year has reached solutions for health and economy balance by focusing on health system investment, health security, and universal health coverage. Vaccine development and digital health technology are also key elements to coping with unpredictable outbreaks in the future. Photo: INN News By Thai Newsroom Reporters PRIME MINISTER PRAYUT Chan-o-cha has been suggested to help make Palang Pracharath Party boss Prawit Wongsuwan an elected prime minister instead of preoccupying himself with personal whims to prolong his rule, said a partisan source over the weekend. Prayut has been strongly advised that he lend solid support for Prawit’s hush-hush scheme to be named the No.1 Palang Pracharath candidate for prime minister and give up on his sustained efforts to prolong his rule for only two more years provided by law, according to the partisan source who spoke on condition that he not be identified. Prayut who has reportedly intended to prolong his rule provided by court until 2025 has so far remained non-committal as to whether or when he may ever decide to run for prime minister under the tickets of the Palang Pracharath Party or probably turn to the brand-new Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party which has been primarily set up as an alternative to Prawit’s camp with the top post of a post-election government at stake. This and signs of life from China that its economy may be ready to relaunch after a disturbing shutdown imposed by authorities to fight the pandemic, has been enough to send the baht surging against the US dollar since October 19th last. Thailand’s economy and currency have come thundering back in the last three weeks with the baht’s value soaring through multiple barriers to hit ฿35.93 to the US currency while both consumer and industry confidence are on the rise. The country’s inflation rate has also been ticking downward while the kingdom finds itself at the bottom of the scale, ranked 107 out of 130 countries, on the basis of inflation, far behind developed economies such as the United Kingdom, United States and Germany. The Thai currency has staged a rapid comeback against the US dollar in the last three weeks which has seen the world’s default currency fall in value by 6.2% against the baht.
