Daily News Thai Caption: Driver surrenders (to police) Daily News followed up on the case of a female dog name "Jao Khao" (Whitey) that was injured when a black car ran over her near the entrance to Big C in Phetchabun, north eastern Thailand. A royal organisation heard about the incident and the injured animal was taken to Kaset University in Bangkok for treatment. Pol Capt Sanit Sannichart of Muang district police said that on Wednesday a "Mr A" surrendered to police and was charged with animal cruelty for which there is a possible fine of 40,000 baht and/or two years in prison. The court decided yesterday to fine him 10,000 baht reduced to 5,000 on admission with no jail time. "A" said he was deeply sorry to animal lovers for what had happened. He said he had sounded his horn and thought the dog had moved aside. His animal loving girlfriend had been unable to sleep or have food for days and when he had seen the news he had contemplated suicide. He consulted with WDT (Watchdog Thailand) before surrendering to police. Picture: Daily News Meanwhile the staff at Big C were thrilled that the popular dog was getting great treatment at Kaset and wished her a speedy recovery and return to the store. A picture of Whitey's ongoing recovery had a tag reading "Yai Khao" (grandmother white) on the pen. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-08-26 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Picture: Thai Rath Thai Rath reported on an extraordinary tale of a small 54 year old woman who managed to lock herself in her own ensuite bathroom at a townhouse in Bangkok. This happened because the lock on the door had been installed the wrong way round. When the door locked she was unable to get out. Despite her screams and efforts to free herself it all came to nothing. Desperate after several days surviving on tap water she scribbled a farewell note on the bathroom wall in cream. It began: "I got stuck on the 22nd and couldn't get out..." Picture: Thai Rath It continued that if she died please would relatives handle her affairs for her. Fortunately it didn't come to that after the woman's elder sister, unable to contact her on the phone for days, told Phrakhanong, Bangkok, police that her sister was missing. She lived alone. Pol Capt Charnchai Sornsiang and a patrol went to the four story town house in On Nut Soi 27 and found the gate locked and a metal grill sealing the front. The captain vaulted the gate and with the help of heavy tools managed to break into the house. Picture: Thai Rath When they did they immediately became aware of screams coming from the third floor. It was a simple matter to just open the ensuite bathroom door and inside was "A" in an exhausted state. She said that at 8 pm on August 22nd she had decided to go to bed. She placed her phone on the bed. But after finishing her business she was unable to get out. The door had always been like that with the knob on the outside. Picture: Thai Rath She screamed and screamed for help but no one heard her and tried to use things in the bathroom to break down the door but failed. She wrote the farewell note in desperation fearing she would die. Capt Charnchai advised her to seek hospital treatment as she hadn't eaten for three days. He said that the woman's predicament was made worse by the fact the whole house was completely locked up and she was high up inside the body of the house and couldn't be heard. He advised people not to have door locks installed in the wrong way - especially if you live alone. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-08-26 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Government spokespersons team asserts work of government unimpeded by court order by Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - The government spokespersons team has asserted country’s administration will be interrupted despite the court order for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to temporarily suspend work. by Namo Vananupong BANGKOK (NNT) - The government spokespersons team has asserted country’s administration will be interrupted despite the court order for Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to temporarily suspend work. Meanwhile, all parties are urged to not hasten to conclusions or criticize the work of the court. They are also asked to help keep order in the country. Deputy government spokesperson Tipanan Sirichana asserted the court order does not terminate the status of Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha as prime minister. The order means Gen. Prayut will suspend work for the time being, pending the court’s interpretation of the length of his tenure. Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon will, for now, carry out duties in place of the prime minister. The court order, therefore, does not impact country administration, civil service affairs, or government policies. Ms. Tipanan said Gen. Prayut expressed gratitude for the moral support he has received recently. Gen. Prayut indicated he will continue to work in the capacity of minister of defense and carry out duties for the benefit of the nation and its people. Gen. Prayut is also asking all parties to respect the upcoming court verdict and avoid instigating conflicts in society. Deputy government spokesperson Trisulee Trisaranakul also asserted the work of the government will not be interrupted. Meanwhile, deputy prime minister and health minister Anutin Charnvirakul is continuing to host APEC Health Week 2022 in Bangkok. The meetings of APEC health officials from August 22-26 are being participated by on-site attendees as well as those attending remotely. A successful hosting of APEC Health Week and sub-activities are expected to give a boost to the image of Thailand.
