by Natthaphon Sangpolsit BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Tobacco Products Control Committee has resolved to ban sales of electronic cigarette products containing cannabis extracts, along with traditional cigarettes and cigars containing cannabis. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. Following the decision, a new guideline will be introduced in the form of ministerial regulations, while rules for e-cigarettes fall under the responsibility of the police and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society. Concerning the reported sales and consumption of cannabis by a primary school student in Lampang, the minister said the consumption of cannabis products among people under the age of 20 is strictly prohibited. He reiterated the health ministry’s stance against recreational cannabis use, saying the draft cannabis and hemp bill proposed by the Bhumjaithai Party does not contain any clauses that explicitly permit recreational use. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-07-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group (CP) and Norway’s Telenor are urging the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), Thailand’s telecom and broadcasting regulator, to speed up the issuance of conditions to govern the planned merger of their two subsidiaries, True Corp and Total Access Communication (DTAC). CP Chief Executive Suphachai Chearavanont and Sigve Brekke, president and chief executive of Telenor, told a joint press conference yesterday (Friday) that the NBTC has no authority to approve or reject the planned merger, but does have the authority to regulate the operations of the merged entity. Supachai, also chairman of True Corporation, said that the merger will not lead to monopolisation of cell phone services, as feared by some, because their market share is no more than 48%, adding that, each year, as many as 30% of cellular service customers tend to move between service providers. by Natthaphon Sangpolsit BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai government has announced the successful conclusion of negotiations to lift bans on more agricultural products entering China. Thai Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on disclosed that the Bureau of Import and Export Food Safety of the People’s Republic of China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC) lifted the suspension of product exports from five more poultry and poultry-based product businesses in Thailand. The lifting of the suspension follows progress in cooperation between Thai and Chinese authorities in working to lift import bans for Thai companies that follow China’s protocols in preventing disease contamination in their products and maintaining managerial confidence. Currently, 20 Thai companies are permitted to import poultry and frozen poultry-based products into China. Sorawit Thanito, director-general of the Department of Livestock Development (DLD), said the GACC evaluated these businesses and determined that the producers adhered to China’s import regulations, allowing for the lifting of export bans from these five companies effective July 22, 2022. He also emphasized the importance of prioritizing product safety and preventing contamination in products to boost confidence among domestic and international consumers. For more information, interested parties can visit the DLD website at http://certify.dld.go.th, use the DLD 4.0 application, or call the department at 063-225-6888. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-07-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Speaking about “Economic Turbulence 2022 and How to Cope with It”, he said that all countries must be prepared to cope with the consequences of international geo-political conflicts, energy and food crises, turbulence in global capital and financial markets and an economic slowdown in China. These will impact emerging markets and the economy of Thailand for the next 1-2 years and will slow Thai exportgrowth, which recorded a 20% increase last year.
