In the wake of the nation's move on June 9 to become the first in Asia to decriminalize marijuana, some experts have called the decision hasty and "immature". "The Thai cannabis policy is very immature," said Sarana Sommano, an associate professor at Chiang Mai University's Department of Plant and Soil Sciences. She said the government should have studied the consequences of such a move and closed any loopholes before going ahead with the legalization. "The regulation should be set in place that we only allow medicinal and therapeutic uses in Thailand," Sarana said. Thailand's Department of Health said that food outlets must get permission to sell products containing cannabis, public broadcaster Thai PBS reported on Sunday. The move by Thailand has also triggered warnings from other countries in Asia. Sarana said the government should consider carefully how to respond to the concerns, especially as the economy relies heavily on tourism. Siam Rath were contacted by the chief of the Kha Thong Kham traders' association and business people of Chinese ancestry with companies on Hua Mankorn Korat road in the north eastern Thai city. Chaichana Praphrittipong said that a car had already been damaged by sparks from the wires and there were fears things would get worse. Electrical engineers were on the scene taking pictures and preparing remedial work. In 2016 Bill Gates famously raised the issue of the wires on a holiday in Thailand. He took photos. The group of workers were found hiding in a palm plantation. 21 were arrested - 20 men and one woman - nine managed to flee and are still on the run. Those arrested were taken for ATK tests and prosecuted for illegal entry. They had crossed into Thailand at Mae Sot, Tak, in the north west and were headed for "a neighboring country" - in this case that euphemism would be Malaysia, notes ASEAN NOW. He appears to kick her twice as she is floored. The shocking video can be seen on the Sanook site here. The attack left Anong in Bhumibol Hospital in Bangkok with a brain hemorrhage. It happened at 11 am Monday in Pahonyothin Soi 50, Bang Khen. Ekkaphop who runs the "Sai Mai" site called the man a danger to society who must be taken off the streets. He took the old lady's daughter Thanaporn, 54, to the Bang Khen police to report the incident. They arrested a homeless man called Pongsan or "Big" aged 28. He is well known locally as a habitual drunk and drug taker. He reportedly admitted downing a whole bottle of spirits and taking three Ya Ba tablets. He was incoherent on arrest. He has been in rehab twice for two four month periods. He reportedly knew the old lady who had once had a go at him saying he should get a job. He remembered her face and when asked why he attacked her and not someone else it is claimed he said: "It was her turn." He's been charged with being drunk and disorderly and assault and is in custody. Inside the song thaew were 11 female rubber factory workers from Myanmar. Dead at the scene on Kanchanawanich Road heading into Sadao, Songkhla, southern Thailand was 23 year old Ming Mia Suu who was thrown out. Seriously injured were four others and six were slightly injured - all were taken to Sadao Hospital. Behind the wheel was a tourist police volunteer called Hemmarach. The driver of the truck called Thammaron, 39, said he had clear dashcam footage and he blamed the song thaew driver for not looking. He said he was only going 50 kmph as it was raining but the other vehicle just pulled into his path. The Myanmar workers had rented the song thaew yesterday evening to take them to Wat Hua Thanon to make merit to mark the Buddhist holidays that begin today. But they never made it. By Thai PBS World’s Political Desk Thaksin Shinawatra’s recent boast that his proxy party Pheu Thai could win by a landslide at the next general election, expected early next year, seems to have scared leaders in the ruling coalition. The fear apparently prompted them to make a last-minute change to the draft election bill, by switching the formula used to calculate how many votes are needed for a party to earn one of the 100 party-list MP seats in Parliament. Parliament last Wednesday (July 6) voted to approve a proposal by New Palang Dharma Party leader Ravee Maschamadol to divide the total number of party-list votes by 500, rather than 100 as originally proposed. The 500 figure is the total number of MP seats in Parliament. Ravee cited the Constitution’s principle that “every vote counts”, though he admitted his proposal would also ensure smaller parties could win seats with fewer votes while reducing the chances of a landslide win by a large party. The Constitution was amended last year to change the composition of the next Lower House from 350 constituency MPs and 150 party-list MPs to 400 and 100 respectively. It's at the "ห." intersection. Words that start with this letter could start with an H, or many other letters for that matter! It's in the "ส." police jurisdiction. That means it starts with an "S".
